My mother passed and they were recommended by the staff at Middlesex Hospital. Their service is top shelf. No trying to sell you anything you don't need. We had discussed with her what she wanted and we explained it to the staff. They provided everything we needed at a very reasonable cost. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them to anyone.

We received Excellent service from Abbey during these difficult times prices were reasonable and they told us they would be willing to work with us in any way they can, showing they cared and their were no additional fees or no hidden costs when picking up my dads ashes which made me at a peace with my decision when looking for a place to choose I had only only a few days to look for a place and this was one of the places I was given, I was impressed with the quick return phone call after I had called, they took down my name and number and someone got back to me that same day, they had comforted me with their show of sympathy for me and my mom, and what we were going through and showed deep concerns and sympathy towards us and assured us that everything was going to be taken care of by them, they also told me in advance what their services included which was removal of my dad, the cremation, and a box or I could bring my own urn or order one from them if I chose to, they didn't push anything on me which was excellent that I didn't have to feel obligated to order or purchase anything extra and that when it was my dads time that they would come and get him, they gave me their card and said call any time and they did come when my dad passed at 1am during a week day they gave us enough time for us to say goodbye, they came and picked him up they showed and handle my dad with complete care and dignity and they were professionals about taking him out of the house, they got their in a reasonable amount of time they were their at my dads house at 4am we could of had longer if we chose to and we didn't have to pay anything until we picked up my dads ashes we decided to go with our own Urn and it only took a short amount of time to get back the Urn by the time I was done with the paperwork they had my dad ready thank you again Abbey

During the very sad, overwhelming and emotional times after losing a loved one, it's comforting to know that SHB is available to shoulder the task and help you and your family navigate through the storm. In confusing and uncharted journeys, it's important to have trusted and highly experienced professionals available to help. Once again, after losing a close relative last October, we are appreciative of the professional manner that the arrangements for our cousin were planned and perfectly executed by SHB.

Driven by this location many time was pretty surprised by the ease of getting in and getting out as the funeral was promptly after the business day concluded. There were ushers helping us park cars as it was a large gathering from in and out of state that was here to bid farewell to a friend and family. The lot was pretty tight yet served us well as I didn't have to fight for a spot and was heading inside. The staircase leading upstairs from the lot that I had parked was beautiful, though we all were dressed in black attire. Two different rooms for seating and the bigger room held the casket and visitors came to pay their respects. A decently sizes funeral home that some had to squeeze by others while there was still areas for groups to congregate. I imagine that a lot of thought and preparation was put into honoring this man and this funeral home did him justice. Cannot speak to the procession the day after to the cemetery as I couldn't attend but I imagine thar it was well organized and handle the business of the Elmwood West Hartford area.

It was an absolute pleasure being helped by Shoreline Cremation, during such a horribly painful and…read morestressful period! We started with a different funeral home, that was "full-service". However, my beloved family member only wanted a simple cremation and absolutely no funeral. So in general it only costs between $250.00-$500.00 for a basic cremation; however, the average cost is $2,000.00, which isn't unreasonable. Additionally, we found out that Medicaid has a death benefit of $1,800.00 towards cremation. So not only did the initial business not inform us of this, but they were not willing to bill her health insurance. They wanted to charge $7,000.00 to come out of her life insurance only for cremation, and for a brief final viewing just her children, where they offered to place her body on a stretcher with a sheet over her. I felt this would be extremely traumatic for her younger children, and the youngest child, flat out refused to say "goodbye" to her mother, if she had to see her like that. Their mother wanted as little spent on her end of life expenses as possible, so that the bulk of her life insurance would go directly towards her 4 children (1 already in college, and the other going to college next year), as well as, her 3 grandchildren. On a late Sunday evening, Joe one of the co-owners spent hours on the phone helping us navigate an area that was completely foreign and beyond confusing. Without any frustration, other than the way that my family was treated, he invested hours of time & energy, while exhibiting such compassion. He literally provided the much needed hand-holding we needed at this point; even as we were bombarded with a multitude of challenges and time constraints. He literally walked us through step by step!!!! I am forever grateful that my loved-one's body was treated with such dignity, respect, and reverence prior to being cremated; and particularly that her children were providing a brief intimate and beautiful viewing where she was able to be dressed, propped with beautiful pillows, and covered with a lovely blanket, on a lovely but covered table. This gave them a much needed private opportunity to say, "good-bye" to the most important & influential person in each of their lives, while being in a positive and completely non-traumatic setting. Her daughter actually said, "Mom looked beautiful and peaceful, just like she was sleeping". That was exactly what I hoped, for her children's last visual image of their mother; which will stick with them for the rest of their lives! His brother James, the other co-owner, worked with us as well, and he showed such patience & kindness; plus, he was so helpful with addressing the challenges associated with retrieving her body, the significant time limitations that resulted, and he still made it possible to schedule a time that same day for her kids to have a viewing! They only charged $1,800.00 for the cremation, you paid up front, they submit the billing to Medicaid, and once reimbursed, they send you a photo of the check they received and immediately send the money to you. Of course there had to be a credit card issue, as due to the large amount, a freeze was automatically placed on my card. I'm panicking trying to correct everything immediately, but my schedule was jam packed that day. He calmly told me not to even concern myself with paying the bill today; and that tomorrow morning they would run my card again, when the office opened. This immediately relieved me, so I was able to continue with the rest of my day without additional stress. The entire office staff, during every single interaction, was extremely kind, helpful, and showed exemplary professionalism. This is never an easy time, when a loved-one passes, but it is even harder when there is confusion, your needs and requests are not being met, or when experiencing feelings of being taken advantage of in any way, while you are at your most vulnerable. Shoreline Cremation incorporated a sense of morality and ethical beliefs into the manner in which they conduct business. I am so grateful!

Because I live in California, Rob facilitated a conference call w/ my sister & I to discuss what options we might prefer for Mom's service. Once we agreed on our specific choices, Rob ensured us that Mulryan would coordinate with all the other outside services (cemetery prep, priest, etc.) so that we could focus on other things. True to his word, everything was effortless before, during & after Mom's service. (They even let me drop-in the day before the service to test our Spotify audio playlist and video slideshow that would appear on their screens during calling hours.) From beginning-to-end, we felt we were in good hands with Mulryan. The room looked absolutely beautiful & well-appointed for the service. Rob was present & available throughout. The coordination from Mulryan to the cemetery was smooth & effortless. And even in our final moments at the cemetery, Rob was there overseeing the final closure of the burial site. We really couldn't have asked for more. If you're in need of a local Glastonbury funeral service that deftly handles the sensitivity, class & respect a funeral of a loved one requires, Mulryan will most certainly take great care of you & yours. Thanks again, Rob.

Our family used this funeral home in the last couple of weeks. We would like to share our story…read morefor others. My companion's daughter passed away unexpectedly. We met with the director and wanted to have a casket for just the mass. The home has a casket that they use for multiple rentals for the funeral. The fee to use the casket for an hour and a half was $1200 which we thought was exhobinant. The mother of the daughter is a single mom on a fixed income. The fees from this home were extremely high and I wrote to the owner Tom Mulryan to ask if he could consider a discount for the woman. He never returned an email, I wrote to him again telling him that I thought that it was discourteous to not even respond to a customer. Then I received a rude email back from him stating that I was threatening him because I told him that I will never refer anyone to his business. He also threatened that if I said anything to anyone about his business he would forward my emails to the mother of the child. I never threatened this person and merely asked him if he could possibly give this single mother a discount for their services. there is nothing wrong with that. In return I received the following email from the owner. (This is from Tom Mulryan the owner) "I didn't get back to you because I didn't think there was any reason to.  Just because in your mind you think we should give a discount that doesn't count. How much did you contribute to the funeral.  And don't ever threaten me. If I Hear one thing from someone that you said about me or the funeral home I will forward all your emails to---------- " ( A real classy way to treat his customers that just lost a family member.) Mind you we just buried her daughter a couple of weeks ago. We will never use this funeral home again and this is an example of the sensitivity and crudeness that you receive from no less the owner of the home. This person doesn't deserve anyone's business and I would not recommend that anyone go to their home. It seems like money is the main concern and not the compassion for his clients. All I did was merely ask him if he could give a single mom that lost her 32 year old daughter a discount on the package. This person is insensitive, rude and completely inconsiderate to his customers and isn't professional. I understand now why many people that I know are choosing CT Crematory for $1250 and they have a mass. The don't want to deal with the funeral homes that are bilking people. We just lost a family member and this is the way that he reacted to us. I have never had an owner of any business, especially someone that deals with grief, loss etc. act so callous, and rude. He shows no class. We are still mourning and this is the treatment that we got. We do not recommend this funeral home. Absolutely egregious! Any other funeral home would be better than this one. Please do yourself a favor and choose someone else for your services.
