The core issue is that no one on your staff raised the basic and essential question of whether my father should be placed in a location that would allow my mother to be interred next to him in the future. Presenting paperwork to a grieving family member during a wake, without guidance or explanation of long-term implications, is insufficient. While this may meet legal requirements, it falls short of the level of care and foresight that families reasonably expect during such vulnerable moments. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing, marked by a lack of professionalism, empathy, and organization. At a time when families are most vulnerable, CMFH failed to provide the compassion and integrity one should expect from a funeral home. Our family initially met with a gentleman who was courteous but not authorized to make final decisions. We were told we needed to meet with Valerie, the funeral director, to finalize arrangements and ensure we could stay within our very limited budget. When the meeting day arrived, Valerie showed up 20 minutes late and was completely unprepared. From the start, her demeanor lacked empathy and professionalism. During our discussion, she made an inappropriate remark about her colleague, stating, "He's a man and doesn't know what needs to be done" when referring to the preparation (makeup) for our loved one. This comment was not only unprofessional but highly insensitive, especially to a grieving family just days before the funeral. Regarding pricing and services, we were charged for the use of a 32" ONN television to display a memorial video. The fee was explained as covering both the equipment and dedicated technical support. However, the person assigned as "technical support" -- who was also managing the funeral service -- had no technical expertise. She did not know how to connect a laptop with a cable, and I had to personally request one twice. The only method she attempted was using a USB stick, which the monitor couldn't read. This made the charge unjustifiable and added unnecessary stress during an already emotional event. After finalizing our selections, Valerie provided a written quote. We reviewed all the details together, signed the paperwork, and left to obtain payment. While en route to the bank, I received a call from her stating that she had made a "calculation error" and was increasing the total by $1,100. The tone was dismissive and unapologetic -- no acknowledgment of the inconvenience or her mistake. When we returned to deliver payment and the clothing for preparation, Valerie avoided contact altogether. Her office manager -- the Office Manager, who also handled "technical support" -- processed everything. On the day of the funeral, Valerie remained out of sight, never once checking in with the family. At the gravesite, without prior coordination, the attendants instructed the pallbearers to face the mourners and speak -- something the family had never requested or approved. Following the service, a blanket with our loved one's image was presented to the family. While it appeared to be a thoughtful gesture, we know it was not without a cost and even an offer to purchase additional copies. This left a terrible impression, as if the family's grief had been turned into a sales opportunity, despite our clearly stated budget limitations. In summary, the facilities and service quality do not justify the cost. Valerie did do a commendable job with the physical preparation of my mother-in-law -- she was presented beautifully and as we had hoped. Unfortunately, that was the only positive aspect of our experience. Chapel Memorial Funeral Home's lack of empathy, accountability, and professionalism made an already painful time even more difficult. I would not recommend this funeral home to any family seeking respectful, compassionate, and honest service during their time of loss.

Because I live in California, Rob facilitated a conference call w/ my sister & I to discuss what options we might prefer for Mom's service. Once we agreed on our specific choices, Rob ensured us that Mulryan would coordinate with all the other outside services (cemetery prep, priest, etc.) so that we could focus on other things. True to his word, everything was effortless before, during & after Mom's service. (They even let me drop-in the day before the service to test our Spotify audio playlist and video slideshow that would appear on their screens during calling hours.) From beginning-to-end, we felt we were in good hands with Mulryan. The room looked absolutely beautiful & well-appointed for the service. Rob was present & available throughout. The coordination from Mulryan to the cemetery was smooth & effortless. And even in our final moments at the cemetery, Rob was there overseeing the final closure of the burial site. We really couldn't have asked for more. If you're in need of a local Glastonbury funeral service that deftly handles the sensitivity, class & respect a funeral of a loved one requires, Mulryan will most certainly take great care of you & yours. We met with the director and wanted to have a casket for just the mass. The home has a casket that they use for multiple rentals for the funeral. The fee to use the casket for an hour and a half was $1200 which we thought was exhobinant. The mother of the daughter is a single mom on a fixed income. The fees from this home were extremely high and I wrote to the owner Tom Mulryan to ask if he could consider a discount for the woman. He never returned an email, I wrote to him again telling him that I thought that it was discourteous to not even respond to a customer. Then I received a rude email back from him stating that I was threatening him because I told him that I will never refer anyone to his business. He also threatened that if I said anything to anyone about his business he would forward my emails to the mother of the child. I never threatened this person and merely asked him if he could possibly give this single mother a discount for their services. there is nothing wrong with that. In return I received the following email from the owner. (This is from Tom Mulryan the owner) "I didn't get back to you because I didn't think there was any reason to.  Just because in your mind you think we should give a discount that doesn't count. How much did you contribute to the funeral.  And don't ever threaten me. If I Hear one thing from someone that you said about me or the funeral home I will forward all your emails to---------- " ( A real classy way to treat his customers that just lost a family member.) Mind you we just buried her daughter a couple of weeks ago. We will never use this funeral home again and this is an example of the sensitivity and crudeness that you receive from no less the owner of the home. This person doesn't deserve anyone's business and I would not recommend that anyone go to their home. It seems like money is the main concern and not the compassion for his clients. All I did was merely ask him if he could give a single mom that lost her 32 year old daughter a discount on the package. This person is insensitive, rude and completely inconsiderate to his customers and isn't professional. I understand now why many people that I know are choosing CT Crematory for $1250 and they have a mass. The don't want to deal with the funeral homes that are bilking people. We just lost a family member and this is the way that he reacted to us. I have never had an owner of any business, especially someone that deals with grief, loss etc. act so callous, and rude. He shows no class. We are still mourning and this is the treatment that we got. We do not recommend this funeral home. Absolutely egregious! Any other funeral home would be better than this one. Please do yourself a favor and choose someone else for your services.

Idk we had service for my mother who passed two and a half years ago. I didn't purchase a coffin. I…read moredidn't purchase an urn through them. I didn't purchase a statue or marker or a headstone. We pre paid ten thousand dollars. The dinner service nearby costs were aprox $500. Not a big alcohol bill or anything that was in total for 30 guests. I got aprox $300 in flower shop plants and flowers. I asked for what I asked for, there was dealing w out of state stuff etc. ensured they could handle the arrangements required in this cost arranged of ten thousand. Two years later long after I thought it was all set I get this long drawn out call from the senior guy. Apparently the younger woman handling my mother's service left and it was all unfinished and it took them that long to realize. He said he was charging an additional thousand dollars because of out of state travel of one trip and the engraver cost more than expected yada yada. Today a relative called close to six months later to let me know the marker still isn't placed at the grave this still isn't done. Two and a half years after the fact. Please don't go here. It was a mistake. It's a sick thing to do this to grieving families. Suck it up and figure it out I don't want to pay more when these arrangements still aren't done!!!. This place has been open long enough to do better. Where is the rest of the money? Where is the metal plate? No itemized bill has been produced this whole time and the job not done. Seriously irate. Don't go here. Wish I didn't go here. There is a cement slab with holes sitting there and the metal plate isn't in it. All that was requested was different lettering on a metal plate and added engraving on the back of my father's existing head stone. No way it costs nine grand to engrave stuff, make phone calls or drive to Pennsylvania or New York etc. maybe he did a huge expense account for his whole family to stay over night or something, Jesus. Yet I'm sure they will still have customers dying to get in. Don't be one of them shop around first. I feel foolish and my mother's grave still isn't completed, not sure how to get it done and he's talking like it's gonna cost more.
