I did have a few issues with the service. Her obituary had two misspellings that I had to call about (She even wrote some of it) so I know she wouldn't misspell her maiden name or my name. Confusion in the posting of visitation and service which I think are one in the same. Visitation 4-6 Service 5-TBD was posted. Family was told 4-8 some family weren't able to come pay their respects and we were told at 6:45 the service had ended. Some of us were confused and that we were rushed out. When you are grieving confusion isn't something anyone wants to deal with.

Being the planner that I am - I had gone to O'Brien previously to check out the facility and start pricing out items and found them to be the best of those that I visited. Burying a loved one is never easy and I was not looking for the place where I could only get the most "bang for my buck". I was looking for a place that would take the same care and love of my mom that she took of me while I was growing up and I felt she deserved after her passing. I worked closely with Paige, the funeral director, who although she looks young - took the time and consideration to go over all the details with my brother and I multiple times and answer our countless questions. When planning a wake and funeral - it is a mad dash to put it mildly - you are grieving but there are all these moving parts that have to be put in place in a short period of time. We were luck to have Paige, and the entire staff of O'Brien Funeral Home with us during the entire process. They helped tailor the wake to truly honor her and make the day of the funeral as seamless as possible - snow and all.

In confusing and uncharted journeys, it's important to have trusted and highly experienced professionals available to help. Once again, after losing a close relative last October, we are appreciative of the professional manner that the arrangements for our cousin were planned and perfectly executed by SHB.

Driven by this location many time was pretty surprised by the ease of getting in and getting out as the funeral was promptly after the business day concluded. There were ushers helping us park cars as it was a large gathering from in and out of state that was here to bid farewell to a friend and family. The lot was pretty tight yet served us well as I didn't have to fight for a spot and was heading inside. The staircase leading upstairs from the lot that I had parked was beautiful, though we all were dressed in black attire. Two different rooms for seating and the bigger room held the casket and visitors came to pay their respects. A decently sizes funeral home that some had to squeeze by others while there was still areas for groups to congregate. I imagine that a lot of thought and preparation was put into honoring this man and this funeral home did him justice. Cannot speak to the procession the day after to the cemetery as I couldn't attend but I imagine thar it was well organized and handle the business of the Elmwood West Hartford area.

From the second you walk in as a guest the staff here is waiting with open arms to make this experience as easy and stress-less as possible. I believe he is one of the owners, but Ryan has personally helped a great deal with all arrangements and made these sad days a little less hard on everyone with how much help he has been. Just wanted to leave a review and thank the amazing staff at the DuPont Funeral Home for all the work they do. When I 1st googled funeral homes, I checked out a few different options, but only Dignity had a perfect rating, and I now personally know why. They have been exceptional from the very beginning and still after it was all done. The people that work there are some of the most wonderful people I had the pleasure of meeting. One in particular, has been a huge support, went above and beyond, helped me and my family feel comfortable, and has personally made me feel like we were old friends. She is amazing, beautiful and great at what she does. There is also a gentleman there that is a fellow Yankees fan, who was non-stop on top of things, making sure what needed to get done, was done. If we would have known my mothers service was not paid for, we would have taken her somewhere else. Guy was clueless that was helping us, the bill was paid before we left. Told us the contract would be typed out and then it would have to be signed. Couldn't get hold of the Deacon, was told we would have to pay him directly and that changed. Could not hand in the obit write up said it needed to be emailed in and she would get to us on Monday. Mind you my mothers service was on Friday and getting an obit in the paper has to be done at least 2 days before. She finally called us late Tuesday afternoon. Asked if we could quickly proof read it, because she said she had a doctors appointment she had to get to. (Really) With all the rushing the obit ended up being wrong in the paper. Thank God it was able to be changed online. We went on Wed to pay her for the Deacon and thinking we were also going there to sign the contract. We get there and she said she hasn't had time. (Really) When we were there we gave the lady a statue to be put in with her ashes and a jar so we could have some ashes kept aside. Day of the cemetery service thought it could not get worse. Lady at the funeral home calls my sister half hour before the service and tells her she needs to bring a check for the cemetery payment. This was unbelievable are there not by laws to go by? All of this should have been added so we would not have to keep going through this. So to top it off they never took out any ashes for us and the statue was still at the funeral home. They had to call and have someone bring it and take some out at the cemetery. My sister received the contract at the cemetery nothing was itemized and the contract was never signed till this day. The Deacon had a mask on and no one could hear him. I will say that we did have a good experience with my dad, but this really broke my heart. The closing I will never forget
