The Philly steak wonton appetizer - incredible. The burger was one of the best that I've had in a long time. The bun was so soft and fresh, the patty itself was seasoned and cooked to perfection, and of course with fresh mozzarella, basil, and balsamic vinegar, you can never go wrong. I would love to give a five star review, because my turkey Rueben was delicious and the service was great! I can't. The ONLY side you were given was fries. On their sides, the fries and green beans were both $3, but they WOULD NOT substitute the two. You had to pay a full $3 EXTRA to get a side that was the same cost as the fries. We went to Dooleys for dinner and enjoyed our meals. They have a big menu with a lot of choices: sandwiches, many many burgers, stuffed burgers, speciality grilled cheese and more! We had the potato skins and fried wontons as appetizers. Wow! Both were really good and I could have made a meal out of just the potato skins! They were huge, had lots of potato in them and lots of toppings! My husband and the roast beef and said it was very good. I had a fired egg burger... it was ok. I think I'd try something different next time. Tuesday is also music bingo night! That was a blast and I got a bingo! The prize was a $5 gift certificate for Dooleys. Fun place to go. Staff is great. This place is delightful! Great location in the heart of downtown with nice outdoor seating - and plenty of room inside too. The homemade chips were our favorite by far, they were perfection. We didn't get to try the cocktails, but we plan to be back! The menu offers lots of options, including vegetarian/vegan and gluten free. It's great have so many options! Our waitress was friendly and did a great job. The food came out quickly, nice and hot. If you have time, make sure to walk up the block to The Book Room, the cutest local bookstore! Ordered a $27 bottle of wine . Server brought the bottle to the table and it had been opened behind the bar, not uncorked at the table. So no glass was poured by server for a satisfactory nod. When he walked away we poured ourselves a bit and then tasted. It tasted like pure vinegar. I received no cooperation when speaking about the situation, only a "I just work here, and I doubt the owner will do anything for you." I brought over half a bottle home just so my husband could confirm the nastiness of it, which he did. My suspicion is that the wine I ordered was replaced by some horrible low cost wine that had gone bad. Will not repeat this mistake. Just stick with the water. Also, meat was cooked medium well, not medium and my co-diner had to ask for the black bean patty she ordered because it was missing from her sandwich. read more

What a delicious spot! My husband and I both opted for the hangman's rare roast beef. I got the small and he got the large. The small is about the size of a burger and the large is HUGE!!! My husband eats all and he could only finish half! The horseradish is delicious and the roast beef is tender and so fresh. I loved the French fries, which have to be hand cut! The little girls loved their hotdogs and were asking for seconds. The environment is casual, laidback, bar type environment with indoor and outdoor seating. Kid friendly! We were staying in nearby Purlear and decided to come into Wilkesboro for a local lunch. The weather was nice so we decided to sit outside. Our server was friendly and promptly took our order. I had the French dip with homemade chips and added provolone cheese. My fiancé got the rare roast beef burger with fries. The french dip was pretty tasty, not the best I've had but decent. The chips were great but I do love a homemade chip. My fiancé's burger was a bit overcooked but the fries were great! Only downside to sitting outside was the flies, they were very excited we chose to sit there. Alas, that's the risk we took. Service was a little slow as we waited for our check but nothing that was egregious. I'd come again, but there are a few other spots I'd like to check out nearby as well. read more

I've been here three times and had a great experience every time. Most recently stopped in for a little break from Merlefest, some AC and dinner. We were seated immediately -- they have both indoor and outdoor seating. Their menu is extensive -- it will take you awhile to get through it! Best thing for me is that you can get about anything on the menu gluten free! They also have a whole display case of desserts that are all gluten free! Husband had to order a burger because the host told us they grind the meat fresh. I ordered a club sandwich on GF bread and sweet potato fries. Unfortunately my sandwich came out with mayo all over it but waitress noticed immediately and took it back. Big glasses of ice water with lemon were great on a hot day. They also have an extensive beer menu -- we were there the night before for beers on the patio, again with great service. This is probably my favorite restaurant in Wilkesboro. read more

My go to place to eat when in the WILKESBOROs of NC's NW foothills. Locally farm to table beef. Can't be beat. The small hamburger is plenty the medium and especially the large and one will probably take home a portion. And the old time atmosphere and charm make for a nice dining EXPERIENCE. read more

Honey mild wings were fantastic they were on special for Wing Wednesday and Wednesdays are bingo night! I won at bingo twice and my husband one once! It's free to play, it's family friendly, and the prizes are fun. We won 10% off our meal, twoboros glasses, and a growler! The food was good, especially the desserts which were absolutely incredible (we highly recommend the cheesecake and apple pie). The staff were incredibly kind and helpful and made sure our event ran smoothly. I keep thinking that the food will be good, but over and over it's not. Cold greasy fries when I specifically ask for them to be hot. I have always believed that hot is always implied, but I guess people eat them cold??? Ive had the daily burger and it was not good. Close to 15.00 and it was so thin and overcooked. Stopped in for lunch around 1:00pm on a Wednesday in April. The place was not packed, but was definitely busy. We were seated right away, and got our beverages within a couple minutes. Our orders arrived quickly, and the food was perfectly done, very tasty, and super filling. We each had variations on the Tombstone garlic burger, and were very pleased with the 1/2 pound size of the burger and liberal use of garlic; VERY tasty! Being generous here as I was unimpressed. The server was very nice and helpful when navigating the menu options. I found the burgers (and most of the people in our 6 person party as well) to be very bland despite their "flavorful" description. I had the mushroom Swiss and added grilled mushrooms ordered medium rare. The medium burgers are enormous and I suppose that is the basis of their popularity. There was very little flavor to the burger and to me the meat was of low quality. It was not prepared as ordered as there was only traces of pink scattered around and far from being medium rare. The burger was also dry with no juice offering flavor. The hand cut fries looked great but tasted as if the fry oil had not been changed this year. If you are looking for a place that respects COVID-19 precautions I would also encourage you to pass on this place. There were no precautions at all. No masks or gloves being used by any staff member and no limited seating. I understand people's opinion of these steps are varied but for full disclosure I wanted peeps to know. read more

We had a great meal. We sat outside as we had our dog with us. Service was great. The food was fantastic with large portions. I ordered the boneless wings expecting sauced chicken nuggets but was surprised to get chunks of chicken lightly breaded and fried that were delicious. The breading was gluten free as were most of the sauces although I went with the Teriyaki which is not gluten free (I don't have issues with gluten). My wife got the French Dip special and my uncle got the mushroom Swiss burger. We all got the fries which were fantastic, similar to the fresh cut fries Five Guys has but maybe slightly smaller in diameter and a therefore a little more crunchy. I had an escaped delicious potato chip in my basket so assume they do fresh chips as well. I may try those next time. read more

Very charming find on my mountain trip! Dooley's is in the historic district right on Main St. They have done a very nice job on showcasing their old building.
