There was an early Sunday morning and they had plenty of options in stock. I chose a jelly filled doughnut, and my hubby picked two cake, donuts, one vanilla, and one chocolate both with sprinkles. People are nice, and the price is always amazing!! Good old pre-inflation price, it feels like... I got two good size donuts and a dozen of donut holes for $5 or so. The location is a bit hidden, but it's in a small building next to the Chevron gas station right at Nordahl and El Norte Pkwy. This place has the most amazing glazed donuts! They are so fluffy & so moist! The service is great and the people are always smiling. This is the only place where I crave the donuts when I pass by! The best neighborhood donut shop - THEY'RE EXCELLENT!! Parking lot is a bit small and it's hard to get in and out of if there's a lot of people, because there's also a dry cleaners there as well. I love donuts so when I had a hankering I had to stop at Donut Star, especially since they had a 4 1/2 star rating on Yelp. As we entered we were greeted by a friendly "hello" by the young lady behind the counter. She was friendly and polite as she took our orders. Donuts were fresh and fluffy and the coffee was hot. The devils food donut my wife got had a nice crunch to it, indicating fried perfection! My maple bar was light and mapley....if that's a word. The inside of the shop was clean and tidy. Only thing is you cannot arrive late in the morning and expect there to be many options of donuts as they sell out pretty early, but that can only be expected with amazing donuts such as theirs. THIS IS IMPORTANT! Donut Star lost some large business customers due to Covid-19 and are having to consider going out of business. If you've ever had their donuts, then you know what a TRAGEDY that would be! If you have NOT ever had their donuts, you have been missing out and need to get on down there! I think that if each of us who are regulars would buy an extra dozen or two each week, it would help them out greatly. I can't eat that many, but I would not hesitate to share these special gems with Police Stations, Fire Stations, Churches, random businesses, clubs, gatherings, etc. With any luck, THOSE places and their employees/customers would start to buy from Donut Star. It is so hard to describe how much better these donuts are than others. I have always loved donuts. I don't turn my nose up at many. But having found Donut Star, I now find it difficult to enjoy any others. That's how good they are! There was a previous reviewer who did as good a job as any I've seen in trying to explain it. I hate having to do one star reviews and honestly this is my first one. This is my third attempt to try Doughnut Star and sadly all 3 times I didn't have any doughnuts. The first time I went they are closed but during there business hours, the second time they didn't have hardly any doughnuts to choose from...probably 4 types of doughnuts. Today was the 3rd attempt...I just wanted an old fashion Doughnut my fave!! Sadly to say they only had a few tray of donuts but they only take cash and no ATM nearby.
