Sometimes I would come away with a trunk filled to the brim and sometimes I would walk away with a brain full of knowledge and new ideas. Since the change of ownership and now under the Summerwinds brand this store is not the wonderful haven is use to be for our neighborhood. 95% of the original staff are gone and those that now work there are not knowledgeable and sadly not very friendly. This past weekend I was searching for some plants and approached a sales person to enquire about a plant and if they had it or if they would be coming. She replied "yes, we will have that in a few weeks" I said "great because I bought a number of these last year" and tried to strike a conversation. She turned to her colleague and started talking to them and ignored me. I then said "excuse me - do you know about any more of this type coming in?" And the look she gave me was that of 'are you still here' - and walked off. Just awful - absolutely not a good representative for your store. I could go on but I won't. So sad ... I give them 6 months and they will be closed.

The tree service was great and delivered by very nice and polite local kids, the only good thing,…read morein all their sites. Between the Xmas tree lots and the pumpkin patch you can see a great deal of work wrapped around greed. They are and have always been over priced, which is their choice. However, if you want to be the high priced place, look and act like it. Manage your inventory and shelving better, stop trying to sell every piece of shit as a tree. Some just aren't, trees. Next, and very important. Don't staff your cashier positions with grumpy sarcastic old people. And teach them that the purpose of a receipt is to prove what shows up on your statement is what you agreed to pay. A text/email merely shows what you were charged not what you agreed to pay. A small but important, nuanced difference, yet important. Don't argue or try to outsmart your customers on issues such as technology or finance. You can turn your screen around and have them take a screen shot, or dole out some money for a printer (~$60 on Amazon, the profit off two trees.) We know you are busy, stressed, and at times overworked. We see it in the way the husband and wife owners yell at each other. We all have bad days. But remember, you only do the public stuff for several months a year, in total. Do better with your public facing bits. Also, there are better pricing strategies. There are better inventory management strategies. None of the above will cut into your profit, and will increase it. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you all.

Lots of great Christmas trees that are reasonable price. And more words to meet the minimum.read more

This review has been way overdue. I just finished a plumbing project for my mom, and I thought that…read morethis was the best time to visit Yelp. My family has been been doing business Ace/Pini hardware ever since it was on Grant Avenue, Novato . The customer service has never changed since I was in my teens and now in my 60s. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful on DIY projects. When entering, I'm always, ALWAYS greeted by an associate and asked if there's something he/she can help me do, explain and or find. It's my humble opinion that this is one of the best Customer service examples in the industry. Thank you, Pini Hardware!!!

I specifically pointed out the clip issue when I brought it in originally and the kid apparently didn't pay attention, nor did they probably compare the old screen which I actually left with them, but is now disposed of. When I went in to speak to a manager they were kind of quick to offer a refund to get me out of there. To be fair they would need me to leave the screen, but I don't exactly want them to give me another screen that won't fit where the reference is disposed of - what will I do then? I just don't trust the Novato store and will have the San Rafael Chase store re-screen one and create duplicates. I said as much and they said nothing to reassure me. I want to point out a couple of things with the reply on Google reviews, supposedly by the owner. Why is there any kind of reply when the original was a rating with no review? Just for the 5 stars? When someone mentiones something specific they say to email and then when people say nothing they are busy celebrating. And of course they don't do that here, I guess Yelp users don't count even though it doesn't have the link that says claim this listing, they just ignore this site. And for those who had a key issue, I think that generic reply to email the company for training purposes is ridiculous. In this case the manager I spoke to could have said they would look at the situation to ensure it doesn't happen again, I am right there so that could be addressed before I go online to write this review, but it doesn't look like they care and just said "I don't know what happened" and most likely want to get rid of the customer. The "email us" reply is what big companies do who want to project an impression that they are responsive when they are not really. I don't buy it. Growing up in Novato I had the image that Pini is a nice local business that care about what they do, I don't believe that anymore. I'd like to support local business but not so much when I don't feel like they care about supporting me. The customer is not paid to do training. Why does it require a separate email taking our time when we already wrote detailed information in the review?

Jacob (reddish bearded guy?) in the paint dept. needs to be promoted - or given a raise, or both…read more Today we brought a large piece of chipped paint that peeled from our house to get a match paint color. The first guy put the piece in the matching machine and made our paint. It was too dark. So then he tried again - this time it didn't match at all. His solution - "oh well - that the best we can do." I asked if the machine was broken - we've never had this problem before. The first guy just shrugged and said it wasn't gonna be perfect. It wasn't even close! He basically said - take it or leave it. So I asked for a manager - first guy just wasn't capable of problem solving. Jacob heard and came over, took a look, knew exactly how much white to add to the first can - and boom...perfect match. Home Depot - if you lose your "Jacob", you're stuck with "the first guy" who makes $100 worth of bad paint that will eventually end up on the discount shelf. And you also lose customers. Jacob needs to train, he needs to be promoted, he needs to be a decision maker. We're tired of the first guy. The "take it or leave it"guy. The shrugging guy. Please retrain him to be like Jacob. Please hire more Jacobs.

Miguel O. helped me during a recent Home Depot visit, and I felt compelled to leave a review…read morebecause he was truly exceptional. I've been a regular Home Depot customer since we bought our home about a year and a half ago, and while I've always found the staff helpful, Miguel stands out as the most helpful employee I've ever worked with. I'm currently in the middle of my largest DIY project to date: adding cabinet boxes and shelving to all of our existing kitchen cabinets. The project required purchasing several large sheets of plywood, understanding the differences between them, and figuring out the most efficient and accurate way to have everything cut. Miguel supported me through every step of the process. He helped me select the right materials, handled a significant amount of the board cutting, and when he needed to step away to assist other customers, he made sure I was seamlessly taken care of by Trevor (who was great too!) so I was never left unsure of what to do next. Beyond his technical knowledge, Miguel brought such a positive, optimistic attitude to the experience. He was patient, thorough, and genuinely enjoyable to work with. Employees like Miguel are the reason I keep coming back to this Home Depot. He absolutely deserves recognition and a raise.
