2024-02-19. Whataburger. San Antonio, TX…read more Whataburger is one of many burger chains in Texas. Competing with chains like In-and-Out, Chick-fil-A, A&W, Shake Shack, Culver's, and Steak 'n Shake. Being my first time trying it, I opted for both a beef and chicken burger. The hamburger was a double cheeseburger and the chicken was the breaded spicy one. Both were "all the way" which includes lettuce tomato and onions and condiments. The beef is very similar to that of In-and-Out, it's juicy and greasy. But the patty is bigger, similar to the size of a whopper. The double burger is at least 1/4 pound of meat. The spicy chicken is breaded and not too spicy. There is a kick, but not as potent as Burger Kings angry chicken. This didn't do much for me and IMO can't hold a candle to Chick-Fil-A's or Jollibee's. The fries are nothing special either. The cut is in between McD's and BK. They're not bad, but they're not great either. Overall, Whataburger's burgers are clearly the choice if you're to dine here. I didn't try their grilled burger and in hindsight should have tried that over the breaded spicy chicken. If I'm being honest here, I'd have to say I prefer Whataburger's double cheeseburger over Steak 'n Shake and In-and-Out when looking for that greasy munchies meal after a pub crawl. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with jalapeños and crinkle-cut fries, and it absolutely delivered. The burger was hot, juicy, loaded with flavor, with great bacon and melted cheese. ? More like a 1-star disappointment. Especially on Cheeseburger Day…read more The bacon burgers were seriously underwhelming. The patties were tiny compared to the buns and basically crumbled apart while trying to eat them. The meat had more of a taco-meat texture than an actual burger patty. For $36, we got two single-patty bacon burgers, fries, and onion rings. The onion rings amounted to 7 small pieces, and the fries were just a few burnt, overcooked pieces. That's a pretty rough meal for $36. I wanted a good cheeseburger for Cheeseburger Day and instead got two sad, crumbly patties, a handful of burnt fries, and seven onion rings. Definitely not what I expected, and unfortunately not a place I'd be rushing back to.

I came to this location and explained what happened to Jewlia. She went and took both the initiative and time to go speak with her manager about what happened. She found a solution that was more than fair and it made my day. It's refreshing to see someone working so hard to ensure the satisfaction of a customer during the pandemic when it would be so easy to just do the bare minimum. Thank you Jewlia.
