I dont have a picture to share, but after being a life long Burton resident and have eaten donuts all over the country including several visits to cops and donuts in Clare. (they are really good by the way), I have to say, that short of driving to Clare, you cant beat the quality and taste and variety that you get from Donnas. Truly a local historical place and worthy of the 4.8 YELP rating. The few 1 star reviews have to be people that have no appreciation for taste and i would ignore their comments as outliers. Trust me, you wanna come here , even if its out of your way. ! I cannot say enough good things about Donna's. Their donuts are absolutely amazing. I haven't been able to find anything that comes close. I can never choose just one. The nutty ones have so much flavor and are so perfectly cakey. The cream sticks are so fluffy and full of the most delicious cream. I am a huge fun of the peanut butter & jelly stick - filled with jelly and topped with peanut butter frosting and nuts. The big cinnamon roll donuts with either maple frosting or peanut butter frosting and nuts are also on my favorite list. This is why I always end up with at least a half dozen. My dad works at the Truck & Bus plant currently and has worked for GM in Flint for a long time. He used to come home early in the morning and leave a box on the table with "for my girls" written on it. Absolute best way to wake up. My mom has flown with them from Flint, MI to Atlanta, GA and from Flint to Tampa, FL (a couple of times). Every time she gets offers from other passengers to buy them! I talk about Donna's frequently and it is one of the first places I go to when I make it back to Michigan. OMG. Get there now. I have eaten a few donuts in my day and I can easily say that their vanilla cream stick is the best I have ever had. The setting is very unpretentious, small cement block building with low ceilings and a rough parking lot. Interior has its own special charm with old fashioned basement wood pattern pressboard and yellow booths. Employees are pretty friendly and it looks like a local hangout for some older folks. Our go-to donut shop. We stop in nearly every Sunday for a couple of donuts and coffee before doing our errands for the day. Place is always packed, but getting a table is still not really an issue, as most there are getting their orders to go on their way to church or whatever they're doing Sunday morning. The regulars there are always at the big table up front, and are really nice. They make you feel welcome. The donuts are some of the best I've ever had, and the girls that run the front counter usually know our order without us really having to say anything. It's a little pricey, ($1.25 per donut), but the price is worth it for the quality you're getting. The wife and I usually spend just shy of $8 for a total of 4 donuts and 2 drinks. Not bad for breakfast for two on a Sunday. The interior looks like something out of the early 80's with the wood paneling, and pictures that are done by the local kids hanging on the walls. If you're nostalgic for the old school feel when it comes to donut shops, this is definitely the place for you. read more

Donna Doughnuts have the best doughnuts in Genesee County. Unfortunately after 30 years of patronage I will no longer go there. I spent 30 minutes getting a dozen doughnuts starting at 615 this morning. There were 2 girls there and they were overwhelmed by over a dozen customers all there at once while others walked out It was the most inefficient way to do business I have ever seen!!!! Nobody has a 1/2 hour to wait on doughnuts ! The employees were talking about a new "system" I'm assuming a computer system that they obviously haven't been trained on. This was my first time going here after hearing my husband's friends raving about this place. We always drive by and decides to stop and see what they had. Seeing the reviews i drove 7 miles, 14 round trip, out of my way to get a dozen of these "fabulous" donuts. Service at the counter was rude. The attendant would stand behind a bunch of people shouting to me what i wanted and i had to shout my order back to her. The quality of the donuts themselve MAY have been good if they had been fresh. They had the taste and texture of day olds. In comparison, when i buy a dozen donuts from Meijer's they're gone within hours, these Donna Donuts sre still sitting in ths box on my kitchen table two days later! My family tried them and one bite was it. An entire box of donuts with black and green spots all over them. I had my son pick them up then he returned with them so I took them back to the store and first not one cashier said hello or anything. I was passed over by a cashier to help another gentleman behind me then when one finally asked if I been helped she went to the back and a manager or whatever comes out to tell me those were not mold spots they were grease spots. I'm like either way I'm not eating donuts with spots on them. He said he wouldn't refund my money because it's food. So I asked again and he was very rude and said no. Moon rocks were tasty but there were very few options for donuts that weren't filled (not my favorite). A few flavored cake donuts sounded really good but they were only available on certain days, none on the day I came. I tried the Maple Cinnamon Roll with nuts and the Cinnamon Sugar Donut because I couldn't settle on anything else. Pretty basic Cinnamon Sugar... much better fresh from the orchards, so I would never get that again. The cinnamon roll was unimpressive... meh. I wouldn't order anything but the moon rocks again. My favorite is the peanut butter and jelly donut. It's pretty much just a jelly donut with peanut butter frosting and chopped peanuts on top, but I'm telling you it's magical. The coffee is hot and "donut shop coffee" which means you can drink it black, it's not over-roasted, not too acidy. The main attraction are the donuts. They are the best donuts around, for sure.
