Regular coffee, donut recipes that have been working for decades, and old school back breaking stools at the counter. I love it. Take your kids here so they can hear tales of the olden days of the 1980s when you ordered a donut in person, face to face, no phone involved, no idea what gluten was or if the food was free of it. Anyhoo...... I may have eaten the best donut of my life last night. A man popped out from the back and gave me a freebie he said he just cooked. Oh.my.goodness. It was so light, airy, and flavorful. I think it was cinnamon roll or something; not sure I didn't catch the name because I was busy chewing. Try these donuts!!

I wish I could have gotten more but my doctor doesn't like me eating any. Moderation, am I right? Walked in and was greeted by a very friendly and polite staff. We explained we were all former Regular Customers, but no longer live in the area. They even knew the friends from both Florida and from Massachusetts wouldn't typically find the nutty donut, while we grew up with them in our arsenal. They had a great selection and all were fresh that day, some were actually just recently put in the case fresh. I chose a lemon, Bismarck, a cinnamon roll with maple frosting and nuts on top, two of the glazed donuts, one mixed fruit fritter, and a nutty donut. About 1/4 way home, I inhaled the Bismarck and my only regret is not getting a dozen donuts. That donut was still warm and was better than anything bought from a national chain, and you know who those are. The store is clean and kind of nostalgic. They had a display of vintage looking coffee cups but we were not sure if they were for sale or used for art.

The parking lot is small, but it's easy to get in and out, and they also have a drive-thru, which is a big plus. There was a great variety of donuts to choose from, and I really liked that they were lighter and fluffier than some of the other popular donut places in the area. They weren't overly heavy or greasy. The chocolate éclair had plenty of cream and lots of chocolate, the apple fritter had actual chunks of apple, and the glazed peanut donut had just the right amount of finely crushed peanuts. Customer service was great too! Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. ($9 for 6)

There is plenty of seating, and they open up outdoor seating when warmer weather comes. Despite how busy it gets, you will find seating opens up pretty fast. The staff are kind, quick, and knowledgeable, and prices are reasonable for the caliber of quality you get with every menu option. They also have a seasonal menu that is worth keeping an eye on as it cycles throughout the year. Every dish I've ever had from here has been a feast for all my senses. I recently got the Michigan Smoke and substituted their roasted garlic cream sauce for the BBQ sauce- it was seriously delightful!!!! I usually get their egg crepe and they also have seasonal drinks.

With an obvious play on Jackie Brown, this bakery is a bunch of fun. Great customer service? Check! Oh, you're going to try some pudding. Our server took us through the intricacies of the vibrant flavors. From banana that doesn't taste like banana, to speculous, to an endless variety , these are not your ordinary Jello puddings. Oh no- these are made with love. The crispy cookies balance the creamy texture, and each little container is perfect for one. If you're in the mood for some home baked treats, check out Snacky Brown. Pam Grier would be proud. Power to the snackers, right on!

The purple one, made with Filipino yams, was especially unique. The texture was perfect: not quite a pudding and not quite a cheesecake, but somewhere in between. It wasn't overly sweet, which made it even better. You'll find her right by the entrance when you walk into the farmers market. I'll definitely be back, the service was excellent, the atmosphere was fun, and the food was amazing. The market can get quite busy and crowded so it's best to go early lots of things sell out.

This place is by far the cleanest bakery I've ever been in. It was super bright everything was gleaming, lots of seating inside and out with plenty of parking and really cute decor. The guy who helped at the counter was super nice. They have the menu up on an electronic screen with straightforward pricing and also printed ones where you can scan the QR code and order ahead. It cost $18 for one dozen. That is so cheap compared to the other neighborhood donut places. The donuts were light and airy with plenty of filling but not overly sweet. I tried the peanut butter and jelly one which was delicious, a long John which is my usual standby, a few glazed and cinnamon, and a few other random ones and they were all delicious. I was in and out in under 5 minutes. It's right next door to the local grocer. Definitely stop in. I will be back.

The inside is bright, spacious, modern, and incredibly clean, with plenty of tables and two spotless bathrooms. They also have picnic tables with umbrellas outside if you want to enjoy your coffee and watch the world go by. The owners are the same people behind Pesto's, which has been a neighborhood staple forever, so I already had high expectations for the quality, and Café Brûlé absolutely delivered. They serve locally roasted Fireside Coffee and have a huge coffee menu, along with sandwiches and an amazing selection of baked goods they make themselves, including croissants, cookies, cheesecakes, and more. They even sell locally made items and little crafts like earrings, which gives the place a nice community feel. Now, let's talk about the cinnamon roll cheesecake because THAT deserves its own paragraph. It was phenomenal. Seriously, one of the best desserts I've had in a very long time. The key lime cheesecake was also delicious, with the perfect balance of tart and sweet. I tried the brown butter chocolate chip cookies and molasses cookies too, and both were moist, flavorful, and tasted homemade. My caramel latte was fantastic. You could actually taste the espresso! I hate when a latte tastes like a cup of warm milk with a rumor of coffee in it. This one had plenty of coffee flavor while still being creamy and delicious. I also grabbed a sandwich to try later. I haven't eaten it yet, but if it's anything like the sandwiches at Pesto's, I'm pretty confident I'm going to be happy. The service was excellent. Everything came out quickly, and the woman helping me was incredibly friendly. She even took the time to tell me how Café Brulee got its start. Prices were very reasonable too, especially considering the quality. It's also in a convenient location near Flint and Swartz Creek and within about a mile of the dog park and walking trails, so it would be a great stop before or after a walk. Definitely worth checking out. And whatever else you order, get the cinnamon roll cheesecake. Trust me on this one.

Nice and creamy, great flavors and of good quality. Now the fun... The employee asks if I wanted two scoops or one . I say one scoop, she hands it to me and I take a lick. It was so delicious that I instantly change my mind and want a second scoop. I ask her if it's ok, since I haven't paid yet to get two scoops rather than one. Her answers? Yes! She does indicate that because I licked it, it would be best to put the second scoop in a cup. This made great sense and I agreed. Is everyone following so far? Two scoops ice cream right!? Now when she charges me she charges $2.75 twice...$5.50 like I had ordered two single scoops. I ordered two scoops and she choose to put it in a cup. The price should have been $3.50, double scoop. I was unsuccessful in teaching this poor soul mathematics. Trying to explain to her how she agreed it was ok to switch to two scoops also feckless!! I would call a manager to get this resolved, but I did not want to waste my energy. Too strange!!! UPDATE- I returned for another taste of the best ice cream in the areas. I was not disappointed to say the least. The establishment was closing and the owner was gracious and allowed my friend and I to come in and enjoy their ice cream. It was a wonderful experience this time around. The owner offered an earnest apology for my previous experience and was generous in her portion size, as usual!!
