A MUST for any Studio Ghibli fan (so all of those casuals that say they love anime and literally have only seen Spirited Away or Totoro, just kidding, just kidding...).
I'm glad I was able to finally go without a super long fisted line in front. Easy walk in on a Saturday now which is great, still a very popular shop that gets busy but there was no line to check out and no real line to take pics at the Totoro photo op. Mostly people looking and shopping if anything.
Aside from never actually going to the Studio Ghibli museum, I feel like I have to do this lowkey flex, but looking at the goods that they have here, there are items that they DO NOT have at other shops that sell Ghibli items, I'm talking about Kinokuniya, Japanese markets (Tokyo Central/Nijiya/etc.), Tokyo Japanese Lifestyle (sometimes official and unofficial), BoxLunch, and even when they vended at Anime Expo (with the Cat Bus and Totoro photo op), they didn't have some of the items that they had here (though I wish they had that Heen plush desk duster). The items here even had stickers saying that they're approved by Studio Ghibli/official Studio Ghibli, which is great.
Also the Totoro here is much larger and more impressive than the Kinokuniya one (Arcadia mall). Very cute!
There's plushies galore ( I got a No Face one and Yakul) and some of more rare characters and different variations, hairbands (I got a Calcifer one), desk statues, home good and kitchen goods (towels, plates), stationery, books, and much more. There were Jiji and Calcifer blind boxes that I haven't seen elsewhere either and really cute keychains too (the corn from Totoro, little mouse and bath house ticket from Spirited Away, Calcifer on his log, etc.) If you spend more than $100 (which is SUPER easy to do since everything aside from the postcards are around $20 already), you get a nice Canvas tote bag.
Great place to get cute Ghibli stuff for yourself or for others.
Hopefully they get more stock and new items in too, would love to see some more Nausicaa Valley of the Wind (my favorite movie) or more strange rare things (merchandise of the pumpkin fish casserole from Kiki's Delivery Service - I know I sound crazy but look it up). read more
