It's surprisingly authentic given the location, and the drinks aren't half-bad, either. The Bibimbap with Bulgogi Beef is one of my favorites, thus far, with the perfect ratio of rice to beef, kimchi to veggies. It's one hearty dish, so come hungry. The Signature Fried Chicken is also done to perfection, and if you've ever had Korean Fried Chicken before, you know what I'm talking about. It's not expensive, but sadly, you only get 2 pieces. Believe me, you will want more. I can also vouch for the cocktails. Being a girly drinker myself, I can't pass up a delicious fruity cocktail from people who know how to put it together well. It's always hard to find here because so many places serve only Halal to cater to the local populations, but it's always a treat for me when I find the authentic dish in the UK. It was juicy, fully cooked through, and perfectly lightly flavoured with salt and pepper. I ordered 3 of my 4 favourite dishes here. The other two are Samgyetang (Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup) and Tuna Kimbap. The Tuna Kimbap is also hard to find in England and I don't know why. It's a simply colourful and delicious dish to make and doesn't take much cooking. The Samgyetang broth was good and the meat was tender. It didn't come with salt and pepper on the side which it traditionally comes with in my experience since it's normally a very very light broth, but this time it felt light and fresh but still had a good amount of flavour. The owner and server seemed nice and are Korean so I made sure to say 맛있다 or mashita expressing how tasty everything was and my love for their cooking. It's on a main road and close to Middlesex University, if I was a student again, I'd definitely be here all the time, haha. Note that there aren't banchan (traditional Korean side dishes) but it was still a very filling experience and not overly greasy. Also, the Brown Rice Green Tea is my go-to tea, but it came in a teabag which I wasn't expecting, still lovely though! I'd love to come back sometime and try more faves. Maybe I'll bring family.

As I found out, when you go for Korean barbecue you have the actual barbecue in the middle of your table so you can cook your own meat and veggies just like you want them. But before you get to that there is an array of delicious starters and sides that are put in your table, meats, fish, seafood, vegetables, rice and soups. Once you go through most of those, you meats of choice are brought out and the barbecue is turned heated up. You can then start cooking your steaks using the special wooden cutlery and cut them up with a pair or scissors. This way you can be sure you have everything as soon as it's done and nothing gets cold. We decided to go with the set menu that offers 3 types of meat per person but if you really want to push your limits or have not eater for days there's an unlimited meat option too. If you pick that one, I salute you. Anyway, I definitely enjoyed everything I tried and look forward to going back soon. I recommend going there with a group as that would be great fun and you can order a greater variety of foods. Either way it's worth putting it in your schedule.

We were tempted at the Buffet menus but given that it was quite early we decided on getting the kimchi jeon, spicy pork and fried chicken. First they came out with banchan & kimchi - very few places in London offer this so a major plus as it reminds me of places in NY. The kimchi jeon was really good - at first looked a bit small as only two pieces came out but there was a bit of a confusion between the lunch menu so we got the other half later on! The spicy pork was good - I much prefer the one at Naru but still quite good. We asked them to cook it in the kitchen as it's not worth the effort to bbq at the table for 1 portion. The Korean fried chicken was probably the best I've had in London so far. We wanted half and half and they were quite nice to offer the sauce on the side. It was deliciously fried - comparing this to On the bab last week, we like this one a lot more. One funny thing to highlight is the plain rice. I grew up with a mom who was quite fussy about white rice and this place... they do it quite well. Fluffy and a bit on the sticky side. I started with the Haemul Pajeon (Korean Seafood Pancake). This was lovely - crispy on the outside with small bits of seafood and spring onion. I also had a bowl of seafood with noodles in a spicy soup - I think it was called koppongi. I was startled to find not just a mussel in its shell but also whelks still in their shell in the soup - proves that the seafood was fresh and not frozen! The soup was spicy enough to wake up the tastebuds I'm starting to get a feel for Korean food after a few visits to Korean restaurants. Their food philosophy is the opposite to the Japanese, which rely on few flavours and ingredients but each flavour is distinct and obvious. On the other hand, Korean food is a whole melange of everything thrown together - meat, seafood, vegetables, flavourings. Even bibimbap, which is served with all the ingredients in separate piles in the bowl, must be all mixed together and coalesced before you tuck in. After being let down at Jee Cee Neh on the same block, I decided to give You Me a try, given the favourable reviews. PROS - Very comfortable, intimate and inviting space. Greeted warmly when we stepped in and immediately had a table cleaned up for us. The menu had pictures for EACH item, making the process of deciding which item to get extremely hard because well shit, I wanted everything. My date and I finally narrowed it down to an order of the large dumplings, spicy black bean sauce with noodles and the oxtail soup. We were blown away. The "large dumplings" weren't really "dumplings" per se, but actually hot fluffy buns filled with a generous amount of yummy pork and veggie filling, served with an equally yummy (soy sauce/vinegar/hint of red pepper) dipping sauce. It was such a good deal as well for those suckers. For about £6, you get 6 large hot and fluffy buns. That alone could be a meal but that was filed under "appetizers" in their menu. The spicy black bean noodles was done perfectly, I don't know what else to say about that except the noodles were fresh and the sauce was just so freaking good. The oxtail soup was not bland, but just a sip of it will let you know they have stewed it for a long time. The soup was no instant bouillon type of nonsense. It was the real deal. The soup was served with complimentary Korean rice. Another HUGE PRO - Complimentary refills on your BAN CHAN. That's right, not only did we get more banchan (the side dishes they serve you to refresh your palate) here than at Jee Cee Neh, they immediately restocked our banchan, free of charge when we ran out. How awesome is that? That alone would make me come back to try their dishes but will everything going to fabulously, I would be crazy NOT to go back. CONS - Absolutely none. I was so pleased with the quick service, the amazing food for great prices, and the portions (above average!). Shoot, even the bathrooms were really clean. Everything was so great. POINTERS - You Me kicks Jee Cee Neh's hind quarters out of the bush ..........yup. Pictures to come!
