    Lamb gyro W/ Fries - $10.50
    Lorenzo M.

This is by far one my favorite food trucks in Bloomington. First the owner is a wonderful man who is incredibly amicable and friendly. Turkish food is easily one of my favorite cuisines and Doner Kebab nails it on the dot in terms of authenticity. My main order is the lamb gyro with their fries and The lamb gyro speaks for itself. This gyro is HUGE and comes with loads of color and flavors that explode in your mouth. The fries are absolutely amazing which comes with this seasoning that send it to another level. To make this place even better are the amazing prices that are impossible to beat! Fast service, Impeccable food, and fast service make it very difficult to simply walk past this food truck without indulging!

We've been here many times. We aren't from Bloomington but this is our go to when we are here. He's extremely generous with his portions and is in general a good man. He's nice to talk to. We enjoy his food every time we come to Bloomington.

Nicest Guy in Bloomington, and Great Food! So says my IU grad student son. So when I came to town in July, a visit to Doner Kebab food truck was at the top of our mother&son to-do list. You gotta go, too! When you order, make sure you chat up Kebab Man. He not only makes good food and is super nice, but also he's quite funny. Son ordered the lamb gyro--awesome, of course. I ordered the cheese quesadilla but Kebab Man recommended I upgrade to the Lamb Quesadilla--oh yeah! Yum, yum and even more yum--the freshest baklava I've ever eaten! Ya gotta go!

The kebabs here are HUGE and the fork IS necessary at first. I salute anyone who can tackle one of these babies mouth-first.

The entire place is covered with the evil eye charms, so you should definitely be safe here. I highly recommend reservations because they sure get busy. And while the ambiance is great, you really cannot linger for long, as there are usually folks waiting to get a seat. The menu is quite extensive and offers plenty for carnivores and vegetarians alike. I opted for the Iskender, which is crisp pita bread pieces topped with meat slices, all of it doused in a savory tomato based sauce and topped with dollops of yoghurt. The bread has little crisp edges and together with the meat and toppings gives you like a mini sandwich in your mouth. Simply delicious. The Turkish spices bring a wonderful flavor to the dish. I highly recommend it. Hat to admit it, but I have not been too impressed with the tzaziki on previous visits. It was somewhat runny and bland, but I haven't had in a while. Street parking is limited, but in the summer there is a gravel lot on the side of the neighboring building. However when it snows, parking can be a bit of a problem, so be aware.

The menu bored is a little different than the paper menu I took pics of I ordered the curry chicken spicy and it was so flavorful. The chicken was juicy and tender. Ordering it spicy gave it the perfect balance. It comes with a little side of rice which was really good as well. Hubby ordered the lamb shawarma over rice and it was really good. Could use more lamb pieces. The tzatziki sauce was really good might ask for extra next time. We got an order of samosas which was 2. They were huge. It's a puff pastry dough filled. I'm not sure exactly what's in the filling but they were the best ones I've had anywhere. The sauce that comes with them is a little sweet but compliments them well. We also got 2 orders of garlic naan bread and they are huge pieces we could have gotten just 1. Taste very similar to garlic breadsticks. Highly recommend giving this place a try.

The sauces were rich and flavorful, the naan was perfect for dipping, and the samosas were a great starter. The mango lassi was especially good and super filling--almost like a dessert. There also wasn't much chicken inside of the dishes. That said, the food definitely makes it worth it.

The buffet was out, so we all chose that option. $14 if paying with cash or $15 if paying by credit card - a great price for a buffet. There were lots of options. Everything from your standard India dishes (chicken tiki masala, biryani) to some specialties. Included with the meal was mango lassi and chai, although the chai wasn't my favorite. There is also naan on the buffet and a variety of desserts. I really enjoyed my meal! Tip - parking in Bloomington is always challenging but they do have a small parking lot and we lucked out and got a spot.

I was there for dinner on a weeknight, and while there were a few takeout/delivery orders that came through, I was the only dine-in customer, and the man who served me was extremely courteous. I ordered their vegetable malai kofta, plain naan, and Indian tea. I'm pretty sure what I was kadhi kofta instead of malai kofta; the gravy tasted like tangy savoury kadhi rather than creamy malai gravy. I'm not upset about the mistake because this is actually what I would've ordered, but I didn't see it on the paper menu. Anyway, the dish was very flavourful and the medium hot was actually medium hot - no watered down spice level here! Good naan, soft and charred in the right places. The food was reasonably priced and portioned generously. Cumin rice was included with the entree. The Indian tea (chai) was strong, and I felt like the tea itself was actually of good quality, but it was served sweetened and it was too sweet for me. I prefer chai unsweetened but don't mind some tasteful sweetness, but theirs was really strong. It was also pretty small, almost cutting chai size, and didn't come out until I was almost done eating. The tea wasn't expensive, but not so inexpensive that I was expecting it to be so small. Definitely would visit again. The hours are a little weird - they open at 2:30 pm and close between 1 am-2:30 am depending on the night. It would be nice if they were open at normal lunch time, but on the bright side, they're open during the mid-afternoon window when most restaurants close between lunch and dinner and stay open late when most everything else still open is fast food.

We were immediately served a small portion of lentil soup, which was warm and delicious. The menu is simple with plates and sandwiches. I ordered the gyro sandwich and small hummus. The hummus arrived quickly and was a good portion for the small. It was served with two half pitas, not nearly enough for a bowl full of hummus IMO. It was creamy but still had some depth. The pita was a bit dry. My gyro arrived next and it was a very large portion. It was served open, which I prefer, and was smothered in the tazeki sauce, lettuce, cucumbers and gyro meat piled on it. The meat was very good. After our meal we were served a small portions of sweet clove black tea. Sweet was an understatement, but it did help us warm up since the restaurant was a bit on the colder side. Overall a good meal.

Then we waited to be noticed by the wait staff. And we waited, and waited. It took 17 minutes before anyone came to our table. We would have left but we had a $50 gift certificate to use. Finally someone came over. We ordered teas & an appetizer of flaming saganaki. We found it very tasty. For entered I ordered the Greek meatball sandwich. My wife got a cup of egg lemon bowl ( which is a soup she loves) & Keftethes ( with beef meatballs). I found the fries god & the meatballs & bread decent but the sauce was a little off to me which greatly reduced my enjoyment. It was just ok. My wife thought the soup was a bit thin but overall god with a strong lemon flavor. Her entree the meatballs were good, the green beans were cold & the roasted potatoes were decent. Overall she was meh. We ordered desserts to go. Baklava, Galaktoboureko ( custard in philo dough) & Oreo cake. Wife thought the baklava had an overpowering cinnamon taste which hurt it. The Galaktoboureko was basically sugar cream pie with philo crust. I thought it was ok but wife thought it should have been thinner. She also believes the to go containers aren't sufficient for these desserts due to the sugar syrup. The "Oreo cake" had one cookie to the side & was dry. When we gave the waitress our gift certificate she said they would take that off when they rang up the bill. She came back & the gift certificates were not taken off. I pointed this out to her & she went back to talk to whoever is running the register. When she came back she said she has no idea what's going on but they gave me a $50 bill to credit the $50 in gift certificates. My amazing wife surmised that they credited someone else's bill & gave us the $50 to make it right for us. Bottom line is all the staff we interacted with were friendly but the restaurant is very disorganized. Food was just ok. Can't say we were impressed.
