When I was 19 & had medical, there were only a couple dentists to choose from. I made the wrong choice because I came to Dr. Fleming. I was given nitrous for a root canal and this jerk thought he could take advantage of me and touch me while saying inappropriate things because I couldn't do anything about it. I was extremely scared and in such a vulnerable position since he was working on my tooth. That experience messed me up and scarred me for life. I wish I would have said something and filed a complaint after it happened, but I was young and too afraid to tell anyone. DO NOT GO. Extremely rude!! And I know how to treat people since I had a business for 10+ years in San Francisco. I know good customer service and they're just strolling on...until grandpa can't do it. The place uses very old equipment from the 60's , and is unsanitary! The staff is beyond rude,especially the nurse who thinks that she's all that + the boss of the place. Like if you hate working there, go to western dental or something. Lol. She's blonde. You think you're superior and everyone else is nothing. Literally embarrassed me in front of the window cleaning guy. He was even looking at me like I can't believe this is happening to you. Probably grandson or great grandson. If they would do this in front of a customer, they would be sued. And I will be taking this place to my attorney. And don't worry, I do have one. This hole is also going to be investigated by my insurance. He's the only dentist who had enough nerve telling me that my grey back tooth (THAT HURTS) is a shadow, ummm, excuse me? That I'm not covered for fillings, and if I am, for only 3 cavities. How funny, he told me I have 3 cavities when I have 8! Dude, you have dementiA, seriously, close up shop and be done. He told me that medical doesn't cover my fillings, when they do. That's why the medical lady wanted to call them! I didn't ask her to. I was like, ok, go ahead. The nurse LAUGHED in my face (blonde) who has probably been there for decades thinks that just becaUse she has a mask on, I can't tell that she laughed at me. Do I look like an idiot to you? Then she proceeded to argue WITH ME, telling me about my coverage. Medical called them themselves today to confirm everything and they got pissed at me, claiming that "they gave me that information" I said what the doctor told me about not being covered for fillings, for my 3, she told me he never said that! so I am not allowed to agree with my insurance to confirm! At my first visit, that doctor puts my toothbrush box that I received from western dental on the TOOLS that he was working on me with!! I brushed it off and thought he's going to grab different ones! Nope! That nurse, told me that he never said or did any of that. She's clearly probably his daughter or granddaughter. Trying to protect him. And keep her job that she hates. Or the patients, who knows. She may also be premenopausal. She (nurse) tells me that I'm not the right patient for them. Leaves and then the doctor comes out, mind you, I am bawling at this point! He tells me that I can leave because they will not work on me!!! Literally bawling because that awful nurse went back there to talk sh$/ about me. Facts. The lady at the front said to me and I quote!: "Nurse gets frustrated easily" Omg. I left and couldn't believe them. I walked back in and told them I am filing a complaint! Which I did! She told me to leave, or she will call the cops. Call the cops, I did nothing wrong!! I regret not waiting for them!! What would the cops do? You old lady? Like they don't have enough going on these days! Medical is going to investigate. As they should! And maybe then, they will finally shut down! Do. Not. Go. Trust me. The doctor is the only one, dated equipment, puts boxes on instrument and extremely rude staff. Including the doctor!!!!! I found a different place and am happy this happened! STAY AWAY from this place. It's FRAUD. My mother and father went this Dentistry for simple cleaning and trick them to get $900 night guard that normally coast $150 from other places. They end up paying over $1900. This people should not exist in this country. Really nice man, but... I received dental care from Dr. Fleming for several years. He's a great guy. I agree with many postings about his nice staff and him not doing excessive procedures, but here's the problem: My teeth actually got worse under his care. Plus, I think he has trouble handling the dental equipment. A couple years ago, he left a small scar on my lip from dragging the drill across it when I jerked from pain. He told me it was my fault because I didn't tell him I was in pain. (Really, how can you tell someone you're having pain at the same instant it occurs.) But okay, my bad so I kept seeing him. On my last visit (November 2018), I noticed he was having tremors (he's got to be at least 80 years old). I knew then that I needed to find a new dentist, but I proceeded with the current appointment. After which, I developed tremendous sensitivity and had severe pain a few days after the procedure. I decided to see another dentist for a second opinion. The new dentist told me, among other things, that I have severe periodontal disease. I have some really deep pockets (6s and 7s)n and might even loose a tooth. Dr. Fleming never once checked for or told me about my periodontal disease. He never told me I needed frequent cleanings. He never did any root planing or deep scraping. Since last year, I've been getting cleanings every 3 months and while there is some improvement, the periodontist has recommended surgery and bone graph to save one of my molars. So why did I wait a year before posting this? Today (one year since the last procedure done by Fleming), I went back for another visit and now am told that the two fillings Fleming did were done badly and needed to be re-done because bacteria is getting behind the filling. WTF? New dentist said I could go back to Fleming to have them redone or refunded, but no thanks. I cannot go back. Like I said, he's a lovely man, but I think it's time for him to retire. read more

After reading some of these horrible reviews I decided to still keep my appointment with him. I figured out that some of the comments were from the same angry guy. Let me tell you I'm so glad I followed my mind and went. It was the first time I didn't need laughing gas for fillings. Janice who was a sweetheart convinced me that I didn't need to numb my gums or laughing gas. She said just raise my hand if it start to hurt and the doctor would stop and numb me plus give laughing gas. It was unbelievable how I walked out of their loving a dentist office. No disrespect. Darlene and Janice went far and beyond. Unlike the views Dr Fleming was nice and I didn't see him shake as he was doing my procedure. Someone said they were racist. I'm a black queen and there wasn't anything racist about them. Sad how people get mad and want to ruin people's livelihoods. Again Janice and Darlene were very kind to me. THE DOCTOR TOLD ME "GET A JOB" I can account for the rating extremes for this practice. The staff might strike you as rude, but aloof and unconcerned is more accurate. They are polite enough, just suffering from resting b**ch face. The dentist upsells, but so do they all - that's more on the healthcare and insurance system. Facilities, treatments and the dentist himself are beyond the use-by date, but prices are reasonable. The practice is withering and part-time, but that means you can easily get an immediate appointment. Bottom line, if you just need a cavity filled quickly and relatively inexpensively, and are ok with some condescension, this could be three-star experience for you. Unfortunately, there was more going on in my mouth. From the start, I explained that finances are very tight and I would need to triage, which made Dr. Flemming unhappy. On the last visit, I consented to a procedure I had previously declined because I could finally afford it. He told me that he had never recommended the procedure -- this despite me having received the recommendation in writing -- and that the idea that I had was "a figment of [my] imagination." Instead, he pushed something more expensive and seemingly less efficacious. When I politely explained, not for the first time, that my budget wouldn't allow it, Dr. Flemming said, paraphrasing, that I don't have a dental problem, I have an income problem. Now I will quote directly. "What you need to do is get another job. There are help wanted signs everywhere, go get work so you can afford dental care. I've been working since I was 14." Dr. Flemming is extremely lucky he still has HIS teeth. Another patient would have smashed them into bloody chiclets on the floor. read more

He discusses all options clearly and will do his best with any financial situation that will suit your budget. I have been going here for years and love it. If you want high tech, video screens and 3D imaging this isn't the place for you. If you want a great and caring dentist then you need to make an appointment NOW! Dr Flemming is honest and great at his job. I really trust his abilities and knowledge. He always does what is needed to keep your teeth healthy without adding costly extra stuff and 99% is pain free. I just don't know how he does the pain free part, but he's good. I really don't understand the negative reviews the guy and the office are great! Ok sometimes I think the reminder call every 6 months is a little annoying, but to be honest with you, if it wasn't for them reminding me that preventative care is easier and cheaper than filings,crowns and etc, I'd probably forget to go to the dentist until I had a major problem. If you're looking for a high tech office with all the bells and whistles, complete with every possible comfort like massage chairs and movies on the ceilings...don't come here. This is a no frills dental office, and the prices and services you receive reflect that. What you will get when come here is friendly and efficient dental care, which is why I come here. I don't enjoy the dentist, not at all. As far back as I can remember, I've hated going to the dentist. They've always yelled at me to "open wider!" I have an unusually small mouth, it makes exams and cleanings difficult. I've never enjoyed the dentist as a result. If I don't receive good treatment at a dental office, you better believe I won't return. It's hard enough to get me in there for a checkup. I'm a bit skeptical about a few of these negative reviews. I've been coming here for a couple years and they have to coax me into scheduling my checkups, but I do it. Everyone I've come into contact with here has been nothing but friendly and professional. In fact on the occasions when I've had to bring my son along with me, they even gave him coins for the prize machine that is for patients only! They were so impressed with his behavior and good manners. I've never observed any of the staff being anything but kind when I've been in the office. I had a crown put on last summer and Dr Fleming did a nice job on it. I also had an old filling replaced recently when I went in for my checkup. I couldn't believe how speedy of a process it was. It seemed to only take a couple minutes and he was finished! They always communicate what they are doing before they do it, which is why I doubt the negative reviews. To each their own though, I've had positive experiences here and I'll continue to come here and I'd recommend this office if asked. read more

I love Dr. Fleming. He doesn't find a bunch of phantom cavities that must be filled to the tune of thousands of dollars, he's all about preventative care and not about filling his pockets with unnecessary cosmetic procedures. Dr. Fleming is old school. And he has a lending library for his patients. Good with kids, too. My kids haven't had a problem, and my niece, who cried everywhere else, had no problem either. read more

I have been coming here for years and initially I liked Dr. Fleming. However he has been a bit rude a few times which pissed me off. I did not like a comment he once made about me where he said in earshot of me, "Well then we can't see her anymore." When I asked the assistant why he said that, the assistant (I won't name any names) whispered to me, "Oh he's just being a bit of an asshole today. I apologize for him." His work is very good and they do a great job cleaning my teeth, so I have no issues there. In fact I still go and have my teeth cleaned by them every three months. Another thing I notice is that he shakes when he is doing his work. Shaky hands and a shaky head, etc. I think if he is drilling teeth and such he should have a steady hand. read more

I've been here twice for cleanings since Sept. 2014. Both times my teeth were cleaned by Melinda, who is sweet as can be, and then they were examined (briefly) by Dr. Fleming afterwards. I find that the negative reviews are kind of absurd... Yes, it is true that once my cleaning was done, they told the dentist "Exam in room 5..." but why should that bother anyone?? People seem to be nit-picky about the silliest things. I rated this office based on things that really mattered to me: (1) They got me in for a cleaning as soon as they could, and they informed me when someone had cancelled their appointment (which worked out perfectly for me) (2) The front desk is straight forward but kind & competent, even bright and early at an 8AM appointment (3) I gave them my insurance card once and they handled everything. No issues with billing. (4) My dental hygienist, Melinda, is friendly and superb! She got the coffee stains off my teeth... THANKS Melinda! read more

I've been coming to Dr Fleming's office for a few years now and have never had a negative experience. I switched over from a previous dentist because I was in need of a dentist that accepted dentical. Of course they accept other insurance policies too and I was able to stick with them when I got a job that offered dental. The offices are simple but always clean and the waiting room is comfy enough while you wait. I've had fillings and cleanings done here and I've had family get other work done here too including denture work. After I switched over to Dr Fleming, both my dad and an uncle switched over too. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Fleming for over 20 years. After many cleaning and and a half a dozen crowns, I could not be more satisfied. He has "saved" 2 of my teeth from probably needing extrication. Recently, he replaced one of my crowns that served me well for for 22 years. The office staff has always been very accommodating and Janice does a great job cleaning. I know I have bad teeth, I know they are not well maintained, I expect to hear this at a dentist office. I don't expect a dentist to be rude about it, and a downright miserable human being. It was my first time at this office. The dentist came in the room, voice raised, ready for battle. No introduction, no hi, how are you, nothing, just voice raised shouting. Yes my teeth are bad, but that's no reason to scream at me, literally. No eye contact was made at any time. Just shouting about how my teeth are not my priority. This dentist is in the stone age, LITERALLY. The x-rays are the old fashioned little cardboard things where you have to bite down just right. They took a full set, even though there was only pain in one tooth, I'm sure my insurance company pays for that all the time. Did not use a lead vest, even though I'm a female, which I thought was a big no no when dealing with x-rays. They are obviously "pro-x-ray radiation" in this office, because it's the ONLY dentist office I have ever been to that has radiation ratings on the wall, kind of creepy. Despite my situation, my allergies, everything else, the dentist took none of it into consideration, finished his yelling, prescribed a prescription for a gum infection, and sent me on my way with a referral for a root canal. I might add that I went to the dentist he referred me to, loved the dentist office, and the tooth cannot be saved by a root canal and needs to be extracted, something Dr Fleming never mentioned. He also wants to make sure that he's off the hook for anything that goes wrong, so if you tick any box on the health questionnaire, they want you to sign a written statement, basically clearing them of everything, never had that in a dentist's office before either. All in all, I left the office steaming and crying, with a recommendation I come back for a specialized cleaning I cannot afford that my insurance doesn't cover. The dentist he referred me to mentioned nothing about said cleaning. I don't trust anything that Dr Fleming says, and never would, I don't deserve to be yelled at, no one does for making an attempt. My mom, who was in the waiting room the whole time since I don't drive, said "were you the one he was yelling at" when I told her I was, she was like OMG you don't deserve that, and you know what, she's right. On a side note, despite mentioning my allergies, they jammed a dental pick in my mouth, one of the ingredients on it (it was flavored) I was allergic to and got a mouth full of hives that I needed antihistamines to get rid of. I was traumatized as a child. At 59 seen plenty of dentists and hygienists. My sister and niece were patients. Well... give Dr Fleming and Melinda 5!! I explained to Melinda that I am not a fan of dentists. She did xrays and cleaning, with NO pain. Dr Fleming filled 1 cavity and I was in and out on 50 min. I'm going back to do the teeth whitening. I've been very happy with Dr. Fleming's office. I've had my teeth cleaned by two different hygienists. Both were friendly and not overly aggressive. The Dr. is an old-school New Yorker but also very friendly. He doesn't do unnecessary work like some young go-getter might. Awful experience. I was a first time patient and came here because of new insurance of which he's in the network. I checked out the reviews online (incl. yelp) which seemed fine and figured I'd give him a try. It's a very old school office with outdated equipment. For example, they still use the old style small film x-rays and it looks like the place has been looking this way for decades. The x-ray radiation guard had a rip on it. The woman who came to get me didn't introduce herself, which I'd expect (and is normal) since I'm a new patient and she did my x-rays. That's minor though compared to all else. She left me in the room to develop them and I could hear a woman knocking on doors in the hallway now and then loudly saying things like "Exam in room 5". I've never experienced that before at any medical facility. She came back in with Dr. Fleming, a senior, probably in his 70's. He didn't introduce himself, say hello, or address me by my name. He just shot out a few questions relating to the paperwork I had to fill out and my last dentist visit. He held the x-ray card (with the little film rectangle x-rays in it) to the light above me. Then, with shake hands, he looked at my teeth and called out codes to the asst. He asked a couple more questions and then he told the woman to have me talk to so-and-so and he walked out without saying anything to me. I was left there and another woman came in to ask if I was doing okay. I asked for water and she brought me a cup of water. Then the receptionist came to get me and took me back to the front. I had not idea what was going on. The Dr. didn't explain anything to me about what he wanted to do, when, why, and what exactly I needed. So, of course he didn't even show me the x-rays of my teeth. Any other dentist I've been to as far as I can remember, showed me the x-rays, pointed out what he/she saw, what he/she suggests to be done, and what he/she can do. The receptionist said dollar amounts and for how many fillings. I asked what they were. She also explained how the insurance would only cover 3 that don't show up on the x-ray per year. Huh? Don't show on the x-rays? Then she gave me a referral slip for an oral surgeon. Again, I had to ask what for. She said to have my Wisdom tooth removed. I said it doesn't bother me and it's still beneath my gums. She then said how it will be a problem and what will happen if I don't...putting fear in me, although it's up to me to go forward with it. I told her other dentists said I could leave it alone since it's not affecting me and she said "Well they aren't good dentists then." When I asked about what would be done in my next appointment, she said she didn't know. Whatever he wanted and would have time for, pointing out how crazy it was. Yet, there was no one in the lobby and she had many openings to choose from in the next couple of days. It appears that he just does whatever he wants when people show up and the patients don't really know what to expect. I called to ask for my x-rays and they wouldn't release them. I'd have to wait 10 or so days for copies to get made and pay $35. Needless to say, I left very disappointed and with an odd negative feeling about the whole thing. The worst dentist office experience ever. So, I called my dentist (who I was sad to leave) and went for a second opinion. I explained what had happened, we looked at my x-rays I'd taken at his office before, and a couple new ones to double check. There was no work that NEEDED to be done like Dr. Fleming said. And "not showing up on x-rays" by Dr. Fleming's office is a red flag. Also, the receptionist said decay/bad fillings to be fixed and when I called back for clarification of the teeth and needs, another woman (asst. to Dr. Fleming) said cavities. Another red flag. Those that "didn't show on x-rays" were fine. And my dentist found a couple things that Dr. Fleming missed, but can be left alone for now...just need to watch them. I will NOT be returning to Dr. Fleming and felt I had to write this yelp review for the truth to be known. read more

Dr Fleming and his staff are unfortunately very rude and crotchety seniors. The entire time I had people zooming from door to door yelling who needs what, and the doctor was hopping from mouth to mouth like a cricket. When I finally got my teeth cleaned, it supposedly wasn't the deep cleaning yet she mainly was scraping my gums. My mouth kept filling with bloody water. So everytime I winced the lady was screaming in my face OPEN OPEN OPEN!!! or WIDE MOUTH WIDE MOUTH WIDE MOUTH!!! And slapping the inside of my mouth with the pick. Like damn, I know my insurance is covering this but they won't cover any other teeth you break, or any other 'inci-dentals'.. She felt the need to semi shout at me (in case anyone had heard me yipping) YOU KNOW WHY IT HURTS? Cause you haven't had a cleaning in forever!' Um.. Excuse me? They used a very old technology like the x-ray machine that you have to bite down on 20 big pieces of cardboard individually until they're done. My mouth was rubbed raw by the end. Nobody introduced themselves whatsoever and plus they speak at you instead of to you. Nobody had time for or interest in any small talk . Also the doctor screams when he talks, and he has very very shaky hands, which is un nerving. So I call my friend to curse her out for referring me to this treacherous place and she had the same gripes as me but claims they did a really good job with her fillings so I should go back, but just ask them for anesthesia. For whatever reason, I did.. And they came out nicely. Did a great and fast job. Although now I'm worried that I may not have even needed them because of what everyone else is saying. read more

However, his staffs are the complete opposite. Lets start with the front desk lady, she is extremely rude and disrespectful. I have been here multiple times, and each visit just gets worse and worse. It's the same lady who cleans my teeth, and she always has an attitude, she would roughly turn my head with her hand. After she cleans my teeth, i would have to get up and get my own napkins to wipe, she doesn't even give me anything to wipe my mouth afterwards. Today was my final visit, I have decided to not put up with their b*tchy attitude anymore. I arrived 40 minutes early to my appointment because I needed to do some work and have it due by 10 o'clock. My appointment time is at 10:15, so I was expecting to be called at 10:15. However, the same lady from my last few visits (blonde curly hair, tied up in a bun, multiple piercings on both ears) called me in at 10, so i told her " hold on, can I finish this assignment first" then she waited there for a couple minutes and walked up to the front desk and the front desk lady said "Is she getting on your last nerve?" and the teeth cleaning lady nodded and the front desk lady went on and asked "Did she know you called?" and the cleaning lady said " yeah, she said let her finish her assignment first" with a mocking tone. Then the front desk lady said "she has been here for an hour". EXCUSE ME, I have not been here for an hour, please get your facts straight, and don't be talking crap about your patients in front of them. It was a nice gesture that I even asked if I could finish my assignment first, when i did not need to. My appointment is at 10:15, not at 10:00 so technically I don't have to be in the exam room until 10:15 so what is the problem if you wait? I confronted both of them, and they straight denied it..they said they were not saying that, when I was the only who was working on my assignment in the waiting room area, THE ONLY ONE who just asked her if I can finish my assignment first. I will never come back. I will tell everyone I know to never visit this office. I have never felt so disrespected, no one should be treated this way. Dr. Fleming is a nice guy, but you don't even see him for long, it's not worth to pay and put up with these grouchy old ladies attitude. If you truly hate your job so much, don't work there, but if you have decided to work there then do your job and be nice to your patients. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE, AND I DONT WISH FOR ANYONE TO EXPERIENCE THIS KIND OF SHITTY SERVICE IF YOU'RE PAYING FOR IT. read more

Dr Fleming has been my family Dentist for as long as I can remember and now I bring my 2 young boys here. The waiting room has very comfortable leather seats, but you dont sit in them long because we are always in and out. The staff is very professional and friendly and Dr Fleming is very personable and always has a new funny story to tell! I highly recomend for quality care! read more

Dr. Donald Fleming, DDS was my dentist since I was 12yrs old. He has done work on my crowns, bridge, and fillings. Donald has always been to me part of our family. So much so that Donald asked me to up-grade his x-ray cabinets in his offices, paint his house-trim. These good memories I will keep. Sadly I have to say I will no longer be a patient of his. I am saddened by Donald's cruel comment to me today with regards to my deceased parents Jordan and Joan. It's hard for me to see Donald deteriorate in mind and body. The glaringly apparent uncontrolled shaking of the arms and hands, (and Head gyrations) signal clearly to me somethings wrong here ! Donald's recent work on me has been falling apart and coming out and not fitting properly , ( fillings and new "flipper" front tooth prosthetics ). So if you want to avoid mistakes and poor workmanship ( His Labs also ) give this old New York Doctor a wide berth. read more
