I have been a patient of Alpha Dental for 10+ years. When I first started going here Dr. Vegter was…read morethe owner of the practice. He was an EXCELLENT dentist with tons of experience. Never had any issues with the quality or care of his work. Then Dr. Kuwamoto took over the practice. Over the last 3-4 years every experience seemed to be less and less pleasant. Longer wait times to be seen, painful dental work, fill in dentists (maybe a student dentist) who were allowed to fill a cavity under Dr. Kuwamaoto's supervision but not do it correctly. Resulting in it having to be drilled and removed and filled again all in the same visit. That's a lot of time in one chair for a cavity filling that had to be done twice when it should have been done correctly the first time. Other visits where it should have been a simple cleaning but it turned into a sales pitch trying to talk me into an at home sleep study with a purchase of some type of breathing machine. Which seemed more of a way for the office to pay for the new CT machine they recently added. After they did the ct scan they started asking all these questions about snoring and if I have a hard time breathing when I'm sick... saying "this is the way dentistry is going. We're partnering with doctors and seeing how else we can help our patients" when all I really wanted was my 6 month cleaning done. All the extra CT stuff took over 30-40 extra minutes and caused me to be late for work. Don't get me wrong, the dental hygienists that work here are the best! I have always had great cleanings. They're always so friendly and welcoming. I have tried to give Dr. K and the office the benefit of doubt but today I went in for my normal 6 month cleaning and the new girl at the front told me my insurance was now out of network. I have had the same insurance for the last 10 years. So I asked if they stopped accepting it and she said "no we still take your insurance but at this moment the plan doesn't have in network coverage for the summer????? But we can reschedule you for November and you will be in network again" I was very confused. I have worked in multiple medical fields for over 10+ years that involve insurance billing and have never heard of seasonal coverage. It just seemed very odd. She said I could get services done still today but have to pay for them out of pocket. I told her I wish I would have known this before driving 20 minutes to get here and now having to drive 20 minutes back home without my dental cleaning being done. That is the real problem. A courtesy call to notify someone about insurance coverage only takes 2 minutes.

However, my latest treatment--a crown replacement after my previous crown broke apart--was far more complicated and stressful than expected. The process involved multiple visits: First visit for diagnosis and recommendation to get a crown. Second visit (10 days later) for the procedure and temporary crown. Third visit (2 weeks later) for the permanent crown, which didn't fit properly. Measurements were redone and a new crown was ordered. Fourth visit (7 days later) for the permanent crown fitting, where I was asked to pay $60 more than the original quote. Fifth visit after I experienced significant gum swelling and discomfort around the crowned tooth and nearby teeth. The swelling happened during Thanksgiving while I was on vacation, with the office closed. I had to wait until the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to be seen. In the meantime, I was in pain and ended up visiting another dentist who saw me out of pity, because I didn't have an appointment. He couldn't treat me fully, because of no appointment, but he took my x-ray, gave me antibiotics and shared his opinion, mentioning concerns like "microleakage" and "buckled tooth," which raised questions about the crown fit. When I finally saw Dr. Liberto, I was told the crown was fine and the issue might be a root canal infection or food impaction, and was advised to get a deep cleaning of the teeth with the infected gums, for which her office quoted ~$200. While the office did reorder the crown, the number of visits, the timing of complications, the holiday disruption, and the added cost made this experience stressful and inconvenient. I can't say for certain what caused the inflammation, but the fact that it started right after the crown fitting--and another dentist raised concerns--makes me question the process. Overall, this was far more time-consuming and costly than expected.

I have been to see Dr. Liberto on two separate visits to fill cavities. Both experiences were the worst experiences I have ever had with a dentist in my entire life. I have relocated several times and have had the best dental experiences across the U.S. minus Dr. Liberto. I will break it down for you: 1) Poor bed side manner (I don't appreciate being told I am too nervous and that's why I feel her drilling into my cavity. I have had several cavity filled with zero problems before coming here. I also don't appreciate hearing the dentist speak of other patients in a negative manner). 2) Condescending 3) Lack of compassion in her care for myself as a patient (Continuing to drill into my cavity while still experiencing pain/the max amount of carbo had not been given). 4) Lack of sympathy (I was never completely numb/instead I was told I had anxiety). 5) Impatient (she was rushed and it was apparent, there was no time to complete the 2nd cavity she was drilling on leaving me with part of my tooth looking like it was standing on a stilt. As a registered nurse with a masters degree, I know what acceptable care is, this dentist doesn't cut it! The care I received was appalling & absolutely unacceptable. I forgot to mention I developed an infection from my first visit, this was the first for me. I can't imagine how other patients have been treated. I was able to find another dentist who fixed my half drilled on tooth that she left with ZERO PAIN. I will never recommend this dentist to anyone.
