Don Taco has stellar food, and is way better than its overall 3 1/2 star rating would suggest. This food is legit and you can taste the quality. I pulled up to the drive thru and was really happy to see a picture menu. I ordered a #4 which was the Enchiladas Mexicanos. When I got home, the food was carefully and nearly packed. The were enchiladas were filled with cheese and came with rice and beans. Everything was so good! To add to the delectable meal itself, the salad on the enchiladas with a huge jalapeño, onions, and marinated carrots with a fresh lemon took it to next level! Oh, and I'm not even done because I haven't mentioned that creama or the green and orange hot sauces. The green hot sauce was 100%! I paid via credit card and they do have a tipping option. I did tip because the girl in the drive thru was very patient and nice answering my questions. Looking forward to the next time I visit Don Taco, and trying some of their other offerings. Overall, I enjoyed every aspect of my first Don Taco experience. read more

We've been coming here for a few months and I gotta say, this is "autentico" Mexican fare! It speaks volumes that an overwhelming majority of the customers are Latino, which in and of itself is an endorsement. We're also thrilled they're close to the house, which is cherries! We start with the shrimp cocktail which is very flavorful, with a touch of sweetness and has the perfect amount of seasoning and always tastes fresh, though it would benefit from more side veggies like celery, cucumber, etc. The price is about average as seafood places go (as a reference.) What we really salivate for, though, are the fajita tacos con tortillas de harina (flour). They never fail and the taste is genuine. Oh, and you must try the asada fries. French fries with thin-sliced beef and three sauces -- red, white and green artistically drizzled over everything. The inside is not what I'd call "traditional ambience", but at least they play futbol on the flats. It's also great that hey stay open until midnight on weekends for da munchies crew Highly recommend! Vamos!! read more

The food was phenomenal, I definitely will be back. I got the Bistec tacos with corn tortillas. I will say that first the order was wrong thank God I checked it because they gave me chicken tacos instead of what I ordered... but it was quickly resolved. It was just the wrong package being handed to me. I will say service is a little on the slower side too.... Definitely not a place to go if you're in a rush. The drive-through is kind of a joke. You will be sitting there lol. But the food was great once I got it. read more

Refuse to service me due to my service dog! My dog is 8 pounds! I tried to show my badge because i'm legally blind but she refused to take my order and walked away ! She said it's unsanitary! I advised I'm ordering out and she refused to service me..... I was discriminated against due to my handicap! Do not eat here or patronize this establishment! My minor daughter was with me! She told my daughter that she needs to stand outside with the dog in order for me to place the order! So I told her she's a minor and she said she doesn't care and walked away! And she told the male cashier to not take my order! I have all my credentials with me even my badge that states my medical handicap ! Keep in mind there was no one even inside! I just wanted to place my order and leave. I was even willing to place my order and stand outside until my food was done. But she refused to accommodate me. I will be contacting Dons taco corporate to rectify. may be a potential lawsuit for discrimination. There is no sign on the inside or outside stating "no service animals." read more

3 stars. I tried the 3 taco plate which came out to about $10. Service in the drive thru was lightening fast. Rice and beans were very good but you only get about a 1/4 cup of each. Salsa was nice and spicy and I was pleased the tacos came with freshly diced onion, cilantro, and lime. Tortillas were warm and soft. I did one shredded chicken and two carnitas. Chicken was juicy and flavorful but the carnitas was such a miss. Was diced, not shredded, and full of gristle and fat. Multiple times I had to spit it out. It was not good and I wish I didn't order the carnitas. Big mistake! I'm still totally hungry, ten dollars later. read more

I've only been here a couple times, my boyfriend loves the menudo! I've gotten the chicken flautas twice, and loved them! The plate comes with 6 or 8 flautas. I get 6 because it is very filling to me. They are SOOOO good! You also get beans and rice, guacamole, sour cream , and lettuce and tomato. I promise they were delicious. The service is fast, too! YUM! read more

The food here is really good. Authentic and always hot. Made to order and it never disappoints.

I saw this place pop up near my home a couple months ago. Various restaurants have occupied this spot but nothing seems to "stick". I was pleasantly surprised when I started seeing rave reviews on Yelp! I went for the first time today (drive thru). The menu is extensive and very affordable. We ended up getting tacos - carnitas, bistek, lengua, suadero & barbacoa. All were DELICIOUS! There were 3 sauces included and we loved them all! Verde sauce - rich and green in color, medium heat, slightly tangy Avacado sauce - spicy and creamy Orange sauce - spicy and smoky There are plenty of taco joints in the area but this is by far my new fav! I can't wait to try their breakfast tacos! read more

I had a barbacoa taco and a carnitas taco. I like how the garnishments came on the side and the price was very reasonable. However, both meats and the sauces lacked flavor. On the bright side the place was extremely clean. read more

I have been somewhat weary as to stopping by, but I am so glad I did. Friday evening after the gym I decided to stop by and check this place out. I ordered the Gordita platter. There was so much food that it I had enough for 2 meals. Sunday rolled around and after a long night out I stopped back in for a combo #8 the taco platter. I am completely sold on this place. The meat is seasoned just right and they over fill the tacos which I love. Can we talk about the green sauce OMG it has just the right amount of kick to it. I'll definitely be stopping back by soon. read more

The only reason I'm giving them three stars is because the food was so delicious. But other than that, I really cannot say anything good about this place. I mean don't get me wrong the food carries a lot of weight. But, that does not cover up the fact that the customer service was so poor. So when I first walked in I was with my two coworkers. Once they placed their orders, I was patiently waiting for the girl to take my order as well but that didn't happen. I literally was standing there for a good 10 minutes before I was even acknowledged. I guess they were short staff because the girl at the front was running all around the kitchen, taking orders at the drive thru and all that. The two other people who were in the kitchen, I guess they were cooks. But they didn't ask for my order either. It got to the point that I was just going to say forget it, I don't want to eat this anymore. But then my coworker walked up and asked for a napkin or something and then she asked if i had ordered yet. Mind you, we only have an hour lunch break. By this time, I was over it. I just wanted to see how long they were going to make me wait there. Finally, the young lady took my order. And thankfully they didn't take forever and a day to make it because that would have made matters worst... but the food was good. Lol read more

Amazing real Mexican food. All the options I would recommend. This is my second time eating here, I will definitely be coming back!

Food was delicious but- 70 cents for a card transaction. NO MA'AM. Then with NO notice of the rates that will be charged. There is a sign on the window but nothing is filled in- like it's discontinued or something. When addressed about it, it was basically an "oh well". read more

Completely screwed up my order twice then told me to bring my order back to the restaurant. Jose is awful and should be fired.

If you are from California you'd probably rate this place as "Meh". The burrito was MEH... They either got our burrito orders wrong or just forgot to put the beans in it? It was all tortilla, meat and Pico de Gallo. I have NEVER had a burrito were I had excess tortilla on my plate, know it sounds strange. My son said his taco tortilla was dry. My daughters fish was cooked well and had good flavor. read more

This is one of the worst locations we can have can't use facilities without buying something first the last time u I was here I had to pay for 2 extra slices of lemon slices, another customer was denied hot sauce because the limit has been reached bring in customer service I think we do better than this not real happy with this establishment in our neighborhood. read more

Their food is great. Supreme Burrito, Breakfast Burrito on point. I can't believe that they haven't received more reviews.

Came for breakfast ordered Huevos a la Mexicana. Eggs with onions, tomatoes, peppers were delicious! Very good flavor. And affordable.

May 24th, 2020. I did my customary every other Saturday run to the Montfort dr location. For my usual # 8Tacos w/rice & beans, # 5 Chilly cheese enchiladas w/ rice & beans And my #4 Mexican enchiladas w/rice & beans. Total before taxes $26.50. For the family of course. So getting ready to pay with my credit card. The cashier lady told me that there will be a .70 cent fee added to the total. I ask why she was unable to tell me why. And the notice was posted on the counter in front of the register It was only in Spanish and no English version posting. My concern, the complaint is not about the posting but rather the .70 cent fee. I don't do extortion in any shape or form. So now the patrons that would like to spend their money to eat at their restaurant chain must now pay a fee to do so! Transaction canceled! We are no longer customers of Don Taco and will not be spending our money on that chain after yesterday. Money just walking out the door. I really hope for the best with that chain. But might consider revisiting that policy. I've seen many chains go under for just that reason alone. Of similar complaints postings just like this one. read more

Our office used to be in Oak Cliff, where all the BEST Mexican places are, right? We were so sad to move up here by the Galleria. Where would we ever get good Mexican food for lunch? This place, Don Taco, is actually walking distance from the new office, but, meh....who wants to go to a place that clearly used to be a Whataburger? But one day a couple of people just wanted "anything" for lunch, and since Don Taco has a drive thru, I drove through and just ordered a bunch of tacos. I dropped them by the office and continued on to whatever it was I was doing. A few minutes later my phone was blowing up with text messages "OMG these are delicious" "OMG where did you get these?" Ok so I'm on this stupid keto diet so I can't have tacos or anything yummy. BUT I saw "bistec a la Mexicana" on the menu. Just meat in a delicious hot sauce. Ok maybe it has a carb or two but MAN was it delicious! Try this place! Don't be put off by the facade, the place is actually amazing! read more
