Don Taco has stellar food, and is way better than its overall 3 1/2 star rating would suggest. This food is legit and you can taste the quality. I pulled up to the drive thru and was really happy to see a picture menu. I ordered a #4 which was the Enchiladas Mexicanos. When I got home, the food was carefully and nearly packed. The were enchiladas were filled with cheese and came with rice and beans. Everything was so good! To add to the delectable meal itself, the salad on the enchiladas with a huge jalapeño, onions, and marinated carrots with a fresh lemon took it to next level! Oh, and I'm not even done because I haven't mentioned that creama or the green and orange hot sauces. The green hot sauce was 100%! I paid via credit card and they do have a tipping option. I did tip because the girl in the drive thru was very patient and nice answering my questions. Looking forward to the next time I visit Don Taco, and trying some of their other offerings. I will say that first the order was wrong thank God I checked it because they gave me chicken tacos instead of what I ordered... but it was quickly resolved. We've been coming here for a few months and I gotta say, this is "autentico" Mexican fare! It speaks volumes that an overwhelming majority of the customers are Latino, which in and of itself is an endorsement. We're also thrilled they're close to the house, which is cherries! We start with the shrimp cocktail which is very flavorful, with a touch of sweetness and has the perfect amount of seasoning and always tastes fresh, though it would benefit from more side veggies like celery, cucumber, etc. The price is about average as seafood places go (as a reference.) What we really salivate for, though, are the fajita tacos con tortillas de harina (flour). They never fail and the taste is genuine. Oh, and you must try the asada fries. French fries with thin-sliced beef and three sauces -- red, white and green artistically drizzled over everything. The inside is not what I'd call "traditional ambience", but at least they play futbol on the flats. Refuse to service me due to my service dog! My dog is 8 pounds! I tried to show my badge because i'm legally blind but she refused to take my order and walked away ! She said it's unsanitary! I advised I'm ordering out and she refused to service me..... I was discriminated against due to my handicap! Do not eat here or patronize this establishment! My minor daughter was with me! Salsa was nice and spicy and I was pleased the tacos came with freshly diced onion, cilantro, and lime. Tortillas were warm and soft. I did one shredded chicken and two carnitas. Chicken was juicy and flavorful but the carnitas was such a miss. Was diced, not shredded, and full of gristle and fat. Multiple times I had to spit it out. The only reason I'm giving them three stars is because the food was so delicious. But other than that, I really cannot say anything good about this place. I mean don't get me wrong the food carries a lot of weight. But, that does not cover up the fact that the customer service was so poor. So when I first walked in I was with my two coworkers. Once they placed their orders, I was patiently waiting for the girl to take my order as well but that didn't happen. I literally was standing there for a good 10 minutes before I was even acknowledged. I guess they were short staff because the girl at the front was running all around the kitchen, taking orders at the drive thru and all that. May 24th, 2020. I did my customary every other Saturday run to the Montfort dr location. For my usual # 8Tacos w/rice & beans, # 5 Chilly cheese enchiladas w/ rice & beans And my #4 Mexican enchiladas w/rice & beans. Total before taxes $26.50. For the family of course. So getting ready to pay with my credit card. The cashier lady told me that there will be a .70 cent fee added to the total. I ask why she was unable to tell me why. And the notice was posted on the counter in front of the register It was only in Spanish and no English version posting. My concern, the complaint is not about the posting but rather the .70 cent fee. I don't do extortion in any shape or form. So now the patrons that would like to spend their money to eat at their restaurant chain must now pay a fee to do so! Transaction canceled! We are no longer customers of Don Taco and will not be spending our money on that chain after yesterday. Money just walking out the door. I really hope for the best with that chain. But might consider revisiting that policy. I've seen many chains go under for just that reason alone. Of similar complaints postings just like this one. read more
