Tried Don't Bite the Bone today, and the BBQ was so good I almost forgot the name's warning. The food was flavorful, the place was spotless (even the bathroom was super clean and the staff was friendly. The mac and cheese was just okay, but everything else made up for it. Definitely worth a visit. Go check it out it's just off the 99 freeway across from Bravo Farms

After a few trips to DBTBBBQ in Traver, here are a few of my thoughts. The food is good to excellent. Standing out to me are the Brisket, Ribs, & Tri Tip. My side faves are the Cole Slaw and Macaroni & Cheese. I love the sliced pickles served as a condiment, but I'd like to see some onions served as well. The sauces are good - 1 sweet and 1 spicy. The spicy is also sweet. I would prefer a more savory sauce. Sometimes the meat needs sauce. Like today's pulled pork, which although was flavorful, lacked enough moisture and had to be sauced. The brisket needed no sauce. It was delicious although cut really wrong and could have shown off its tenderness better had it been sliced correctly. Still delicious but attention should have been shown to the cutting of it. When I pay 36.00 per lb. for something, I expect it to be cut correctly. The service is good and informative. I would like to come when it is busy there but so far I've always hit when it was slow The ambience is just as I like it. Decorated in what I call "Barbecue Funky", it brings back the look and feel of the old time BBQ Joints that were so much fun. Country & Western music happily round out the mood. Another little nit to pick would be no ice for the bottled soft drinks which is all they have. Hopefully a fountain machine is in the future plans. All in all, Don't Bite the bone BBQ is well worth the stop or drive (ours is about 25-30 minutes) to enjoy some good 'que. Dont miss the brisket. I'm sure next time it will be sliced correctly. My rating would be 3.5 stars. I'll round up to 4 believing future improvements will occur.

Very good food. Despite it being busy lunch time the food came out fast. Everything was cooked to perfection. The potato salad is smoother than I've ever had, I prefer it chunky but the taste was still there. Try the Texas twinky so worth it. The only thing I'd recommend is them having more drink options. Maybe some sweet tea and lemonade.

The food is amazing with the best choices of BBQ meats. The cornbread side is the best I have had in years. The service is fast and the staff is friendly. What I like best about the ambiance is it is relaxed. I brought in my own home tea to drink. You can also buy bottle soft drink at the counter. Limited hours so make sure you check the posted hours.

We frequently travel up north and have always seen a BBQ rig here but finally stopped in and learned that this place is new. Anyhoo, I'm SOOOO GLAD I stopped by. I bought a plate of brisket, potato salad and chili. I've never bought brisket that didn't need BBQ sauce to add flavor and moisture, so I immediately slathered on the sauce. I get into my truck and taste the brisket and it was freaking SO GOOD! So good I had to go back in and get a second plate and left the BBQ sauce off!! This brisket was so flavorful and cooked to absolutely perfection, the sauce was not needed! Now as for the potato salad, I am very particular about potato salad. Most people add too much mustard or it tastes like vinegar, but this potato salad truly tasted homemade!!! I highly recommend stopping inif you get a chance!!! I know it's going to be a must stop whenever I head up north!!!

While waiting for my car to charge I noticed that there was a barbecue restaurant near. I decided to give it a try after seeing that it has a perfect rating on yelp. I went in and I was instantly hit with the smell of warm smoked meat. I knew I was in the right place. I ordered a brisket sandwich with coleslaw. The restaurant is nice and it has open seating. You pay for your meal and then they Assemble it. I really appreciate it that he toasted the Buns first. My sandwich came with a nice serving of coleslaw and three pickles. I am a Texas girl at heart and normally have white onions with it but hey I'm in California lol. I enjoyed my sandwich with their spicy homemade barbecue sauce. 10 out of 10. They also serve smoked sausages pulled pork and ribs. I definitely come back to this place again and the food was amazing!

To meat plate combo $30 out the door

I got the two meat plate, brisket and ribs. Both OK nothing special. I got two sides mac & cheese and chili beans. The beans were hard and the mac & cheese was mediocre. I asked for an extra barbecue sauce. They said they charge $.75. I told them for a $30 plate you should be able to get an extra barbecue sauce since I did get two meats he just shrugged his shoulders like oh well and of course I ran out of barbecue sauce, I ended up giving half to play away. There's nothing special about this place. I think it's overpriced and very mediocre.

12/13/24 Hot and New! Must try! The worker was Great! They only do chicken thighs. FYI! 4 meat plate ordered with 2 chicken thighs, Pork ribs and tri-tip. Potato salads and extra order of chili beans. The worker was Great! Asked if they had spicy BBQ sauce and they just got it in. Ordered that too! Arrived to pick up! Greeted upon entering! Large, open space with music playing. Order almost ready. Paid for it, order was ready and waiting at the end table and wished a good day with many greets goodbye! Great! The worker told me they've been open about a month. Lunchtime! Order split. It's a lot! Chicken thigh was Really Delicious! Great BBQ flavor and the spicy BBQ sauce made it even better! Potato salad was Great! Pretty much mashed potatoes. Chili beans 1/2 were flavorful with a nice, spicy kick. Tri-tip was tasty! Rib was Really Great! Tender and DELICIOUS with a lot of flavor! Mother said hers was GREAT! Lots of leftovers too! Great service & GREAT lunch! HIGHLY recommended! They deserve every star!

I'm always in search of good BBQ. I came here on a Monday at 11:00 am. I ordered a pound of brisket, a pound of ribs, a pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, chili beans, and green beans. The ribs were over cooked, the brisket was a bit dry, and the pulled pork was dry. The meats were no over smokey, which I like. I didn't care for the coleslaw or the green beans. I liked both BBQ sauces. The main man behind the counter was very nice. I've had worse BBQ and better.

This was my first time at this location, and it is such a cool space! The tri tip sandwich and fries were, of course, delicious as ever. They have a full bar, a butcher counter, a charcuterie counter, a coffee & pastry counter, a shop full of fun assorted items from art to clothing, and ample seating areas with curated vibes. It is truly a one stop shop for anything you could want. It was neat to see it full of folks hanging out in the various seating areas. I was still able to find a spot with ease which was conducive to taking a work video call. The only challenge I had was not eating my food in too ferocious of a manner mid call, and if you've had their tri tip, you know this was a true challenge. lol I look forward to the next time I'm driving through, so I can stop by again!

Today I decided to stop to see what it was all about. They make their cheeses here and you can see the machinery behind the glass near the cheese section of the gift shop. They also sell lots of nuts, dried fruits, candies and fudge. The gift shop is quite large and you are likely to find a gift for anyone you know here. The bathrooms were really clean and modern farm style in design. Right next to the gift shop is a restaurant that smells amazing. I ended up buying chocolate peanut butter cups as a gift. They were pricey but probably worth it.

We ordered three different types of fries for the table but the garlic Parmesan was the main hit. I got the Santa Fe Cobb salad with the Tri Tip, thinking it would be more fire grilled meat. They basically topped the salad with cold Tri-Tip chunks which don't have a lot of flavor and looks uncooked (but not raw). I only ate a portion of the Santa Fe Cobb salad with the Tri-Tip. If I ever come in again, it's best to build your own 5 ingredient salad, which they allow you to do- so you can choose. We got the mac and cheese and wings which were good. Two people in our party ordered the Tri Tip sandwich with Cole slaw, and that appeared to be the better choice here. They have icecream which seemed to be popular for a lot of people stopping in. Still nice to be able to support a local business versus eating at a chain. Easy to get back onto the highway and journey on.

I wasn't sure if they were still open even though one Yelp it said that they were because when we walked to the back all the chairs were stacked up on the tables already. There was a group of people enjoying their coffee and when I went up to the counter, they said they were still open. They have a very large menu and can seem to customize pretty much anything you want including coffees and Red Bulls. The guy helping me was super nice and had a few suggestions based off of what I like. He recommended the mint chip, which I'm excited to see on the menu because those are usually seasonal and a lot of coffee spots. I enjoyed my mint chip drink which I was able to customize with oat milk and no whip cream. It wasn't too strong, but strong enough, and I really enjoyed the mint taste infused with the chocolate. My friend really liked her drink, which was an Horchata latte. We both said we would return.

I make this statement based on only one bite of brisket, and a short conversation with the cooker/cutter today. I later learned his name is "Jim". Here's the story.... Yesterday, while waiting outside for my wife who was getting her nails done around the corner, I smelled that beautiful aroma which can only come from smoked meat done correctly. Not having time yesterday, we decided to check it out today. We found the source, a neon sign blazing red "Holy Smoke BBQ", which showed up in the window of a restaurant named Kuma Ramen. "'That's different". I said, and although we had just eaten, decided to check it out. After our initial look around the place, we decided, instead of getting an after dinner sample, to wait until we could come back and enjoy a sit down meal - probably tomorrow - and check out the full fare. Jim cemented my decision by sharing with me a bite of the brisket he was slicing on the board. Excellent! Excellent brisket! Tender, fat well rendered, juicy, flavorful, excellent brisket. Tomorrow we will go back with an appetite, for a full meal follow up, and a fuller review. I fully believe that, based on the single bite I enjoyed today, Holy Smoke will maintain the five stars I give it on that single bite. Okay. It's now Monday and my wife and I went back to Holy Smoke BBQ for a meal. Holy Smoke BBQ and Kuma Ramen are in the same spaces. Both are owned and operated by the same family. While Kuma has be there about a year, the BBQ has just been added this month. The BBQ menu is limited, only serving three meats: brisket, pork ribs and pork belly. Sides available were macaroni & cheese, chili, and . While only trying the Mac & cheese, which was very good with lots of cheese, we did have some of each meat. Brisket, as rep yesterday was excellent. The ribs, a bit salty for my preference, also were excellent. The pork belly was the best cooked I've had this side of Texas. The fat was rendered so perfectly, I enjoyed it immensely at about a 1-1 ratio with the lean. A nice surprise since I I seldom find pork belly that I can eat like that. The two BBQ sauces - homemade regular and spicy were excellent also even though the meats did not need any sauce added. I don't know how this spot would stand up against a full service Texas themed BBQ joint, but for Hanford - my five stars still stand!
