They told me that I had to pay my deductible every time I visited the doctor's office, even it's a blood test without seeing a doctor. Today's visit was for a blood test. Never have appointments for patients that are extremely sick. My husband called not feeling well and they told him that they didn't have appointments available and he was hospitalized for 10 days after. My mother had a stroke and we were referred here by a hyperbaric o2 therapy center. I have to say, check in was normal about 5 minutes and we were escorted into a private room where we waited another 10-15 minutes to see Dr. Don Son. I must say i completely understand the wait now.. He doesn't rush through our questions and he takes the time to fully understand what my mom was going through. I've seen tons of other doctors (for personal reasons) and I have NEVER and i mean NEVER seen a doctor that was as thorough and caring as Dr. Don Son. Anyways, during my mom's evaluation and asking probing questions he found out that our cardiologist, neurologist and even our primary doctor missed a key test after her stroke. I forget what the correct terminology was called but it basically checks the clot in her vein to prevent future strokes which she is highly susceptible to. honestly, if he didn't spend the extra 30 minutes on her for what was supposed to be a simple referral, my mom could have experienced another stroke. I've been seeing Dr. Son for almost 8 years now, and he's not simply an excellent doctor, but an ideal one. His bedside manner is impeccable and he truly listens to his patients to effectively deal with whatever issue I may be suffering from. His check-ups are also efficient and thorough. He's extremely fluent in both English and Korean and he only staffs the most caring nurses. Most of all, he embodies what every doctor should strive to be. He is kind, objective, and thorough. Complained about how we came late (guess they wouldn't be able to take lunch) and made faces even as my family member was clearly in pain. The best doctor anyone can ask for! My parents and husband go here for check-ups and Dr. Son explains everything in great detail and answers all of your questions. He does not ever rush you. The majority of doctors are always busy and are trying to hustle you out. Not Dr. Son. He tends to his patients as if they were his family. It is very humbling to see such a caring doctor. First time visiting with mom made appointment and still waited for an hour, lol who came 20-30min after went it first either they had insurance or regular there. This wasn't the issue that I came out, lol people who works at the front desk, they were really rude. My mom wanted to get her body exam and package was 1000-1200(I knew a head and explain to her before we went in) she asked them if it was normally that price and just mentioned other hospitals' price. When guess what? She said it 3 times,," you should go to that hospital then?" I was like excuse me?? What the fuck?? I couldn't handle it anymore and told mom to let's just go. Dr. Son is the Ideal doctor. One whom other doctors should emulate. At a time where a typical Doctor appointment means waiting 40 minutes in the waiting room, another 20 minute in exam room, only to be seen for 7-10 minutes and be sent off with a prescription after a brief inquiry by the Doctor of your symptoms. Doctor Son is the opposite. He has an efficient friendly office staff, the wait is so brief that I barely manage to read a paragraph of my book, and then to be summoned & escorted by the Doctor himself to the exam room is impressive. I continue to be amazed by the thoroughness of his inquiries and detailed explanations. He explains complex medical information so easily and clearly for the lay person. His enthusiasm for his profession is evident. The exchange is a real two-way conversation. He Listens! He shows interest in your questions and concerns and you walk out stunned with what just happened. Most important, one is treated with dignity and respect.
