Once youbfind it, the truck that is, the menu shows prices and an "A" grade inspection sticker. Everyone gets so impressed by a little paper letter from the city, like an "A" means the guy cooking the meat is a saint or something. This whole food setup, it's about as ridiculous and depressing as anything I've ever seen. First off, you walk up to the blue food truck, and the side of it is completely covered with a giant menu listing every combination of meat, rice, and pitas you could ever imagine. Then you get the food you I orderedin a shouting voice, everyone is shouting, it's a total circus. They hand us our two giant skewers souvlaki sticks, somebody had the brilliant idea to stick big, thick slabs of bread right on top of the skewers like stupid little helmets. So there you are, standing on the sidewalk in dirty Jackson Heights holding two sticks of meat while the counterman in front of you is not exactly smiling, dude looks pissed. He's wearing a jacket over a shirt with a giant, goofy panda face on it, looking like a complete weirdo. If you don't get the sticks, you can get these aluminum takeout tins sitting on a tray, crammed full of heavy yellow rice, grilled meat, and pitas all wrapped up in branded paper. We also ordered a big white plate covered in chopped-up chicken, black olives, white sauce. It all smells like char and grease, and it's supposed to be the "best souvlaki" around, but the whole experience just leaves you feeling sort of sad and greasy. It really does.

Chinelos Tacos Birria: The Unexpected Hero of My Travel Day…read more When my flight got cancelled and I found myself unexpectedly solo at the Holiday Inn Express in Woodside, I needed a pick-me-up--and maybe something cold to take the edge off. I wandered over to Key Market for a couple of beers and, on the way, spotted this glorious food truck: Chinelos Tacos Birria. With no dinner plan and no clue where else to go, I made a mental note to stop on my way back--and wow, am I glad I did. Total hidden gem! I ordered two shrimp tacos, and they were loaded--plenty of perfectly cooked shrimp, crisp lettuce, juicy tomato, queso fresco, and a touch of cilantro. My only tiny gripe? They used lemons instead of limes. But the flavorful hot sauce totally made up for it. The service? Uber friendly. Seriously, the kind of warm, welcoming energy that makes you feel like a regular even if you're just passing through. As for the ambiance--sure, it's a food truck on a city street, but it's got a cool, laid-back vibe that just works. You can feel the neighborhood rhythm all around you. If you ever find yourself grounded at the Holiday Inn Express Woodside, consider this your silver lining. Grab some beverages from Key Market or United Liquor Market (even closer to the hotel), then treat yourself to a taco truck that seriously delivers. Travel mishaps never tasted so good.

Again I sh*t you not, these fries were top 3 I have ever had anywhere, and I've had A PLETHORA of fries in my day. I hang my hat on being a fry connoisseur. I mean the fries themselves were good, but the seasoning is really what made them what they are. Can y'all DM with whatever the seasoning was on these fries? It was actually insane.
