This place has been around for so long, and there is a giant Guy Fieri cardboard cutout to greet you- congrats on being featured! We sat in the lower level of the restaurant, which is half submerged, with windows that look out at the parking lot. They have live piano many nights of the week. I don't know how I haven't do a review before! My favorite place for (most) Cuban food! The staff is great they have been there for the past 10+ years I have been going there. It's a very cute place. Sometime they have live music on Saturday nights. (Call) Their lunch menu is when to go! So many options and nice portions. Our favorite is the lechon asada. Plus their plantains are top notch. We had a really good lunch here. We like their other locations, but had never been to this one. So glad we decided to stop by. We came for lunch. They had a nice menu with lots of appealing choices. They were busy but we got very good service, as well. They start you out with a basket of Cuban garlic bread. I had to stop myself from eating it all. For my entree, I had their baby churrasco. The flavorful steak came with chimichurri sauce and it was delicious. For my sides I had moros (mixed black beans and rice) -- a huge portion -- and maduros (sweet plantains). The sides were equally as good as the meat. My husband got their ropaj vieja. He said the shredded beef was so tender and the sauce quite tasty. For desert, we shared some classic flan. from the moment we parked, we knew this place had been here forever or was an original building. My father and I went for dinner Saturday night and it couldn't be any more static to walk in to a fine casual family oriented Cuban restaurant that have been there for well over 30 years. We used to go to Casa Romeo in Pembroke Pines for 25 years and we were super sad when we heard the news of them closing. Would that be in said we took a 25 minute drive to go have some dinner and we couldn't be more pleased with how satisfied how flavorful and how great the service was. As soon as we sat down, the servers were attended to us very nice bilingual so in case you speak English, it's still an amazing spot to enjoy. We ordered the Chicharittas, along side of that they're warm garlic bread that's toasted came out with it. But Chicharittas were perfectly cooked. Thinly shaved, not overcooked perfect amount of garlic on there however, I believe it did have a lot of onions on top. I love onions, but I love the garlic mojo over Chicharittas a lot more! For dinner, my dad ordered the Bistec de Empanizado, with Arroz moro and yucca! That's usually my go to order however I ordered the Masas de Cerdo with arroz moro and tostones! Pork chunks perfectly cooked soft in the middle flavorful. The steak was really really good, thinly battered and fried, just enough chopped onions on the plate to where it didn't overdo it. the rice of course my favorite because nobody does it better! The yucca could have used a little bit more garlic sauce, but they give you some on the side so you can add it as you please, so I really appreciated that and the tostones, yummy-- Also served with the garlic mojo on the side. of course we had to finish off with Cuban coffee ! we shared both dishes, we love them and we were super happy when we left. Excellent Cuban food! Great live entertainment. Well stocked bar but a def minus not having a bartender esp. on a Friday! I've had several excellent Cuban dinners there. Done takeout too. I haven't been to a Don Ramon in decades! Came by with some old friends for lunch. This is the one off of Dixie not Military. When we pulled up 11 am or so into the parking lot, we thought they went out of business or not open yet. I guess we were the first ones to get there that day. Whatever. Friendly greetings for us, seated immediately with menus and drink orders taken. Big menu, I kept it pretty traditional and just got the Pan con Bistec. Good sized steak sandwich, straightforward and simple. Comes with sweet plantains or fries. Bread seemed fresh, steak was fine, no issues from me. Everyone else at the table seemed to enjoy their lunch too. Staff was friendly, fairly quick to get your order out and get you anything else you may need. Prices are about what I thought it would be. The sangria was absolutely delicious and refreshingly cold This restaurant feels so cozy. You have to go down a ramp to go into the front of the restaurant. You have to park up slight hill, then walk down to find the entrance. The service was slow but pleasant. The place was pretty busy around lunch time, as they do have specials from 12-3 pm. This time we both started with mojitos for drinks and they where spot-on. For appetizer we had Tamal solo and it was excellent. The food is good, especially the Cuban sandwich, but I have had several issues ordering online then picking up. One time I arrived and it took 15 minutes more than the designated time, and another they received payment but said they didn't get the order, even though the restaurant itself sent a confirmation email with the order in it. Finally a nice Cuban place that isn't a bakery! I just had a great lunch here with friends and can vouch for the lechón! I have extensive experience with Cuban food as I ate it regularly for around 2-3 years while dating a wonderful Cuban girl. Anyway the server seated us and the front of house staff also was very friendly and welcoming. The place is decorated with some Cuban style and I have to say it's very nicely done. They seem to have all of the classic dishes but the litmus for me is the lechón. I had it with rice beans and tostones. Delicious. Lechón: juicy and flavorful with sautéed onions. The key is moisture and mine was definitely juicy. Sides: White rice and beans were standard issue but tasty as well. Finally the large tostones were a great as they were crunchy and fresh and the mojo they give you is spot on. Had a café con leche and their coffee is Cuban no doubt about it, tasted as expected. Strong and smooth. Also tried a Maracuya juice that was also perfectly made. Overall this place is a winner. Ate every last bite! All for under $20! Came for dinner early on a Saturday night, around 5:30. The restaurant was empty with the exception of four other diners. It's a decent sized restaurant with plenty of tables and booths. Asked for a window booth and of course they happily obliged. Our waiter George was extremely pleasant and friendly. Made us feel welcomed immediately and offered up some wonderful drink selections, however we just stuck with good old Diet Coke. I ordered the Caeser salad as an appetizer, a huge bowl filled to the rim with salad, plenty of dressing, croutons and Parmesan cheese. For my entree I ordered the Cuban special of the day which included grilled chicken, steak and pork and three side dishes. The dish was big, really big. The chicken and pork were flavorful, but the steak was fairly dry and chewy. The yellow rice and black beans were, to me, the best part of the dinner. Apparently on weekends they have live entertainment and my mistake was getting a table to close to the music. Although it was pleasant music, it was just too loud for us and to distracting from our enjoyment of the evening. All in all Don Ramon was a good experience and one I would try again, although from a different table. read more

I would give the food 10/10 I would give the service about a 5 out of 10, I've came to don Ramon's a few times and I can say this location for some reason the food is a million times better.. and the empanadas are better and the chimichuri is good here the other don Ramon's idk what they do to their chimichuri.. Every time I have ordered empanadas from here they are amazing!! Especially with the chimichuri it's my favorite thing to get from here, usually takeout orders are quick the rice is always cooked right it's really consistent quality in my opinion (if you order steak I'd just order it more rare than you'd like it they tend to over cook it like most restaurants lol) the food came out in about 25/30 mins I'd say that's pretty good for having to make 7 plates of food along with other orders. We came in yesterday with a party of 7, we started off with drinks what I don't like was after we got our drinks I felt rushed to order my meal. I wanted to order some appetizers but never got the chance because he (our server I honestly think it was one of the owners he was a bigger guy) didn't ask.. it was also a bit hard to me to catch our servers attention when I wanted a water.. I get we had a party of 7 but he never even came around to ask how we were doing with our meal and wasn't very attentive.. I felt he was a lot more attentive towards the Spanish speaking customers for some reason. He was extremely short with us. when I pulled up a photo of a dish to ask what it was he just gave me the name of the meal it would've been nice to have a little more of explanation as to what I was about to order..again I felt rushed and just ordered that I don't enjoy being rushed to order a meal. I will order takeout from here in the future but I don't enjoy the dining experience they offer here. I will give it another shot since my boyfriends family likes to go here but I don't see myself going back and sitting down to eat..I'd say if the servers were more patient and attentive ,not trying to rush you, and the dishes were cleaner I would give this place a 5 star review.. Simple! Size of sandwich a little disappointed! Take in mind it is a 9 dll pork sandwich but imagination lacks! The waiter took our order and came back when it was time to pay. No attention whatsoever. I think I'm still choking on the bread cause i ran out of drink. Will definitely not come back. Didn't feel welcome one bit. How do you tip a waiter with no attention to customers. I don't like to rate bad anyone. But things are tough enough to make money and to see people don't put the effort to at least make it right. I ALWAYS enjoy coming to Don Ramon. This location specifically. The food is so good. I usually get the vaca frita and it hits the spot each time. The portions are large and very filling as well. Also their Sangria is excellent! I just had lunch at Don Roman. Service was good, food was good. The menu did state that there would be a charge of 2.5 for using a credit card. My complaint is that when they gave suggestions for a tip, it was based on the total bill including the tax as well as the additional fee for using a credit card. read more
