People - 8/10 Food - 7/10 Drinks - 5/10 Decor - 4/10 Restrooms - 5/10 Super cute place in Manchester. I've been to this place a couple of times and the food is mostly good sometimes to hit and miss. the only reason I get four out of five stars is because I've been to other places with similar food and the price for the amount of food I get tends to be a little bit higher here. Now this could be because of the area and it's harder to get this kind of food anywhere that's close. Overall the food is good, staff is friendly, bathrooms are a little small, but definitely a place I would return. Oh by the way if you have room for dessert definitely get the tres leches cake. I got coconut and I love it. I would come here just for that every day of the week if I could. It's fantastic.

Res Guisada and Maduros

Just ordered from Uber Eats. Order included Res Guisada (beef in a red sauce with carrots and potatoes, and rice and beans) and Maduros (fried sweet plantains). The food is delicious and very large portions. I was able to make myself a plate and have plenty for leftovers

Chicharrones are gone, sorry. Can't leave pork-fat sitting there.

2 stars for 3 reasons only: Oxtail, Chicharrones and fried sweet plantains. Service is horrible. Completely horrible. Sometimes the check comes, seems a bit high for what you ordered and has no math or items on it, just a total. Odd that the total is an even dollar number, never any change. Order a soda, takes ten minutes for the 10 feet the can needs to make it from the cooler to your table. Get appetizers, ask for a couple plates to eat said appetizers, one plate comes back. Guess "couple" is a term unknown to them. Service is not friendly. Food is good. Real good. Guess we hit it right both times we went. Chicharrones were crispy on the outside, smooth and buttery on the inside. Oxtail was delicious enough to make me go back again no matter how bad the service was. Fried plantains were good, but just a hair undercooked. Tons of rice and beans were served with the dish. Huge portions, but the price was a little steep to compensate.

Awesome lunch. Wash it down with a Presidente.

Love it. Karen? Behind the counter was great. Made a recommendation, was spot on. Ran the bar, the floor and the phone. Looks like one lady cooking, knocked it out 5-stars because it's a small mom and pop, serving it up good. Hard to find good spots like this. If you need some good Dominican grub, pop in. The only drawback, the jukebox can dominate, and be perhaps, offensive. Roll with it.

Great authentic Latin & Caribbean food at a reasonable price. I had the Pernil Lunch plate and was blown away by the flavor. I will be back!

They also operate the Tropical Food Truck which I've seen parked at various locations around Manchester. They offer Puerto Rican and Dominican foods along with sandwiches, fried foods, and pizza. This neighborhood convenience market and kitchen was remodeled in the former 912 Pizza & Market. There are a few tables inside to eat your food. I've ordered takeout from Tropical food to go via ToastTab. On a visit back in September, I ordered the Pernil Sandwich ($10 plus tax), 2 Papa Rellenos ($5 plus tax), a Crab Meat Empanada ($3 plus tax) and a Pepperoni Empanada ($2.25 plus tax). My order was all set in about 20 minutes after placing my takeout order. The 12" Pernil Sandwich (Sub) had plenty of tender & soft pork pieces, lettuce, tomato and Swiss cheese on a soft & chewy sub roll. The papa rellenos (soft fried potato balls) were filled with seasoned ground beef. They threw in an extra papa relleno, 3 total. The empanadas had crispy and flaky pastry shells with the meat fillings. The crab meat empanada could've had more filling inside. On my most recent visit this week, I placed another online order for Tostones (6 for $3 plus tax) and a 3 Topping Pizza ($16 plus tax). However, after I placed my order and took a seat inside to wait for my food, I was informed that they ran out of pizza dough and I could either get refunded for the pizza or order something else. I decided to instead order the Tripleta Sandwich ($12 plus tax), a Beef Empanada ($2.25 plus tax) and a Chicken Empanada ($2.25 plus tax) along with the already ordered Tostones. The transaction was updated on their end and I waited another 15 minutes for my food order. They gave me extra tostones (6 more) for the extra wait. The Tripleta Sandwich was similar to the Pernil Sandwich, but with additional meats, which had tender soft roasted pork (Pernil), ham, pastrami, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayo on a soft chewy 12" sub roll. The fried tostones were thin and a bit chewy to eat, but otherwise a great value. The empanadas looked different than the previous visit which were bigger pastry shells (larger disc used) and had more filling with plenty of ground beef and shredded chicken inside each empanada. I say stick with the bigger empanadas. I will continue to order from Tropical Food To Go for takeout since it's along my commuting route from work to the retail area of Manchester. Hopefully, I will be able to order a pizza and mofongo on my next visits.

When we got there we were a little confused because it was also a store. towards the back they have a little restaurant and a menu where you can choose how many pieces of chicken you want with fries or plantains. However, while we were waiting in line we talked to someone that frequents the establishment and they said to not order off of that menu and just go further down the line and order off what's on the table. So I took her advice and ordered some Spanish rice with chicken stew and one piece of fried Chicken. The food smelled amazing the entire drive home and when we got home we started to eat. There was a lot of rice which is great but not needed and the chicken was very good. I actually preferred the fried over the stew but that's just me. I'm sure if I had more of the stew sauce on the rice it would have made a bigger difference but I didn't have a lot on my plate. Over all the places good and I would love to go back again and try something new.

It's a market with a counter where the staff are continuously cooking. To my surprise they had fried pork. I had to have it. And it was delicious. Great place. Will make it one of my regular stops.
