Food was fantastic and good portion, but took over 30 min to get it. The staff has very minimal English so it's difficult to order with that in mind if you are not bilingual. It made it awkward as the people and the staff in there made you feel a little out of place when you walk in everyone stared at us. Lastly, I would also have rated this higher on the review but they automatically charge a 15% gratuity tip without you realizing until after the fact. Mofongo was good but customer service at this restaurant leaves much to be desired. Last time i visited this restaurant the customer service was so bad that I decided to order take out to avoid paying for horrible service since I've never had anything bad to say about the quality of the food. Unfortunately, today the rice tasted as if it had been reheated from yesterday's left over rice and I was shocked to find out I had been charged $10.00 (a 15% gratuity fee) even though it was take out and I picked out up the food myself to eat at home. Not sure I'll give this restaurant another try because a 15% gratuity fee on a pick up order is ridiculous and completely inconsiderate of the times. Restaurant owners/ managers need to do better. Please train your waitresses proper etiquette for dine in patrons. I've been to this place a couple of times and the food is mostly good sometimes to hit and miss. the only reason I get four out of five stars is because I've been to other places with similar food and the price for the amount of food I get tends to be a little bit higher here. Having ordered the items below and received them from Don Quixote restaurant on Union Street in Manchester, NH via DoorDash # 401691080 (as shown on the DoorDash receipt that accompanied the order) and having subsequently visited the following website... https://www.donquijoteunion.com/contact ...to seek avenues for providing feedback...I have found that the website does not provide an email address to which I can contact them to provide feedback. That is unfortunate since I will now supply my feedback not directly to the restaurant itself via phone (because I'm not willing to provide such detailed and specific feedback via phone since in the past I have found that type of phone feedback to never be effective) but rather via Yelp. As shown on the DoorDash receipt that accompanied the order, we ordered the following: Cubano Don Quijote Bandeja Catracha Tostones Maduros Fajitas (Chicken) The Fajitas did not include the sour cream and the pico de gallo that are shown on the restaurant's downloadable menu. Perhaps that is the difference between the regular restaurant menu and the DoorDash menu? I do not know and would like the restaurant to answer that question. Overall, the fajitas were otherwise fresh and tasty. The person in our party who ordered the Cubano Don Quijote reported that the sandwich was very tasty as were the french fries that accompanied it. The Bandeja Contracha we ordered included some kind of fatty pork thing that was VERY chewy on the outside and fatty on the inside (not sure what it's called because, for this item, it was described neither on the DoorDash menu nor on the restaurant's downloadable menu. The item arrived without the chimol that the restaurant's downloadable menu described as accompanying the carne asada. The carne asada itself and most of the other parts of that menu item were fresh and tasty.  We also ordered sides of Tostones and Maduros, but received a single styrafoam container containing only one of them and not the other. Since we've never before ordered from this restaurant and thus have never before ordered these two sides, we are not sure which one of the two items was missing. Sometimes the check comes, seems a bit high for what you ordered and has no math or items on it, just a total. Odd that the total is an even dollar number, never any change. Order a soda, takes ten minutes for the 10 feet the can needs to make it from the cooler to your table. Get appetizers, ask for a couple plates to eat said appetizers, one plate comes back. Guess "couple" is a term unknown to them. Service is not friendly. Food is good. Real good. Guess we hit it right both times we went. Chicharrones were crispy on the outside, smooth and buttery on the inside. Oxtail was delicious enough to make me go back again no matter how bad the service was. Fried plantains were good, but just a hair undercooked. Tons of rice and beans were served with the dish. Huge portions, but the price was a little steep to compensate. read more

One star because the service was horrible. We were 1 of 2 tables in the entire place and waited for a full hour after we ordered for our food. After an hour we (7 of us) got up to leave because we were hungry and felt we had been more than patient. As we reached the door about 5 staffers came out asking why we were leaving. We told them why and they tried apologizing. Sorry, but that just doesn't cut it. The least they could've done was come in during the wait and EXPLAIN why it takes over 60 minutes to cook some Arroz con Pollo, a quesadilla, and a burrito. SERIOUSLY. Not to kick 'em while they're down, but my friend's Coke had some yellow mass adhered to the side of the cup dissolving away little by little. I noticed it after he took a few good gulps. EW. And I had a wrapper of some sort in my arroz. I had high hopes for this place too since we heard decent things from a friend, but NO THANKS for me. Not going back. Shame... I went there with a friend of mine to eat, to my surprise this resturant is a dump. Very, but very small not a nice clean environment, the bar a big joke, so small with a few cheap bottles of liquor. Another words this place should be closed ASAP. We still look at the menu the prices are if you eat at a 5 Star resturant, we just left. Rigth outside this dump in both sides of the building trash barrels just sitting there just gross. We were staying in Manchester for the marathon and needed to have a family dinner Saturday night. We went here with two very small children, my husband and I. It was a cozy atmosphere and we were promptly attended by a polite and helpful waitress. There were 2 to 3 waitresses present at the time and about three tables of customers (it seems like a good place to have a date) - Plus people sitting at the bar. They had a rocking jukebox and they were kind enough to turn it down to a dull roar for our daughter's oversensitive ears. We were extremely thankful. The food all came out promptly and was delicious. The fried sweet plantains were fabulous; one of my favorite dishes and they did it right. At the end of a wonderful meal, they gave my girls some amazing chocolate! I don't know if it was because Halloween was yesterday but my girls were thrilled. Entrées average about $11; servings are generous and the food is very good. It would definitely be a plus if you spoke Spanish here however they were perfectly welcoming as we did not. Parking is quite limited right outside of the restaurant but the side street has plenty of two hour parking. I definitely recommend this place and hope that more people review it. As a island born and raised Puertorican I can attest to true Caribbean flavors and dishes so here goes: Valley Street: This location is a bar/club/restaurant with loads of unsavory characters hanging around. My husband and I went there to buy food around 3:00pm on a week day and I felt really uncomfortable with the atmosphere. The food took 25 minutes to prepare to go (better to call it in), it was over priced for what we got (rice, beans, pork) and the flavors weren't 100% what we were hoping for. I vowed not to return there no matter how much I was craving Spanish food. Union Street: I purchase lunch here on a Wednesday afternoon. The atmosphere here was a bit more homey and inviting. I ordered at the counter and sat down at a table. The food was one of the "special" off the day (rice, beans, salad, roast pork) and a can of Coke. The total was $12.49! Although the taste was way more authentic than the other location I still believed it was over priced because the portions were normal size (not good for sharing). At the end of the day it would be wise to remember that in Manchester the Caribbean/Spanish/PR/DR/Cuban food choice is extremely limited and these two have NO COMPETITION. This is it, so between the two I recommend Union Street for flavor and atmosphere, but price wise they are both too high. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in, Manchester. The service is not your typical because, Dominican Republic, is literally brought in that little establishment. From top to bottom it is a true escape from your everyday life, while you are there. The ambience, music, people, aromas, and atmosphere brings you to the Carribean for a moment in time. The flavors "sabor" is absolutely on point. If you want to relax they also offer different types of alcohol (watch out for Brugal) Their prices are absolutely amazing. I didn't get to taste the food. The service was awful, not t just slow but disrespectful. The server came took my drink order and then proceeded to hang out at the bar, and I mean hang out. Talking and joking with other customers, which some one say she was just being friendly to other customers but then she fills a glass with ice gives it to the customer at the bar and goes and leans on the other side of the bar to take a sip from her water bottle!
