We've been buying picana exclusively at Don Peter's Carneceria in Rialto for the last year or so and it NEVER disappoints. Smoked on the big green egg for an hour and a half. HEAVEN. Cook: because it was so big, I smoked it at 250 until it hit 115, then opened the vents and let the vents go to 425 to get the fat crispy. Then cooked it until it was 122 internal. Came in to this spot based on a friend's recommendation. The selection is a bit low, but you can tell they just opened not too long ago. But it's clean, workers are nice and prices are ok. We got some ranchera meet and salmon and all was good. read more

We have tried many different butchers over the years, and even some high end mail order companies, but this place is definitely the BEST. We tried them for the first time this weekend, by getting USDA Prime Filet Mignon. The butcher took the time to cut the meat exactly to the thickness we were looking for. The steaks were trimmed up perfectly and presented nicely in a tray. We cooked them on the barbecue and they turned out amazing. They were the best filets we have ever cooked at home. They were so tender, you could almost cut them with a fork. The flavor was rich, and didn't have any gamey taste at all. Everyone at the table said these steaks were absolutely delicious. If you are serious about steak, you need to give them a try. Their prices are much better than any mail order steaks, are very reasonable and super fresh. If I could rate them higher I would. I bought chicken, diesmillo, both were prepared and both were tender, flavorful, and the price was very reasonable. I also picked up an habanero salsa, and tasted homemade. I saw this place as I was driving by on the 210 and decided to give it a try. I stepped in and purchased 2 pounds of Asada prepared for dinner and unfortunately was not paying attention as the clerk weighed and wrapped it. When I got home and unwrapped the package to begin dinner, I could not believe the amount of fat on the meat. It was an excessive amount of fat. Check out the photos and make your own decision. The clerk was friendly and the interior was clean which is to be expected from a new place. Overall I would definitely not return. First time trying them out.. and I must say the service was great The place is very clean everything was well organized presentable and smelled great inside. Everything was fresh and clean we got fresh guacamole and Mexican cokes with few pounds of ranchera preparada. If there's a specific cut you need and they don't have, they'll go out of their way to get it for you. They carry a ton of Prime and Wagyu grade cuts if you are looking for something nicer and tastier. Top of the line stuff! Al Pastor and Chicken for tacos is my personal favorites. Pros: the quality of meat is very good! Salsa verde is super tasty . Service is great ! Cons: there is a mix smell of strong perfume ( or body lotion) and meat that does not go well for the product they sell. I have been here twice and both times I bought a bag of chicharrón, and both times the chicharrón bag had a strong smell of this lotion/perfume to the point that chicharrones taste like that too, so I had to throw them in the trash can because the nasty flavor. read more
