    Carne Asada Tacos
    Ian A.

First thing served was chips and salsa, which were great and as expected. Salsa can be creamy and watery as a heads up. I went with my partner (he got the Carne Asada Tacos): They were great and had a good serving size of 4 tacos with beans! Definitely recommend if you're looking for classic tacos And I got the Quesabirrias: PHENOMENAL... I had a greattt time so I would HIGHLYYYY recommend this card!! There's a menu with pictures of all types of plates that I selected the Quesabirrias.. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant is really nice and clean, service was great and really fast bc the staff have ear , and the ambiance is nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a bar area for those interested.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We hosted my brothers graduation here in the private section and it was so perfect![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They were on point with the food and service. Very attentive. Orders of a big party taken perfectly. The cocktails were delicious, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]they even had live Marachi band and karaoke at the end of the night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The featured menu with zero pricing

My parents went to eat here as they have been going there for a while and pretty frequently. However, they will not be returning after charging my Mother $30 for an okay cocktail, using Don Julio blanco. Which an entire bottle of that cost $30.. I'm in the industry of the spirits world and I told her to talk to a manager as that has to be a mistake. Nope he gaslit her and said "well we pour two shots in there and we need to make our margins" that's literally the cost of the entire bottle! This was ordered off the featured menu where they did not put pricing knowing people will get stuck with paying. This shouldn't be no more than a $14 cocktail. You're just straight out stealing money from your customers with this little move.

Food was delish, didn't take long to arrive and it was fresh. Had to deduct two stars because took a good while for my waitress to come. When she finally did she was friendly and took my order quickly, but once my food came I never saw her again until she brought the bill. Place wasn't packed at 2 in a Wednesday afternoon. But in any case, because the food and horchata was so good I'd go back. I got the deluxe burrito and it was just what the doctor order. Filling and oh so good.

    Pollo Con Crema

Don Pedro used to have the best pollo con crema in the area, one if my favorite tex-mex dishes. Same as their sister ship Azteca Mexican Restaurants'. Any restaurant can have a bad day, but after 3 trips for my 'ol fav it's obvious they have changed the way they prepare this once flavorful dish, and it's not for the better. If you're not familiar with pollo con crema, generally it's grilled chicken served in a sour cream bechamel sauce with onions, bell pepper, and sometimes mushrooms. The key to a great PCC is griddle cooking the chicken first to infuse that great maillard effect flavor, then finishing off with the cream sauce and the vegetables. After ordering and it came back within a few minutes, I suspected the worst. And I was right. The chicken was either boiled, poached, or steamed. The bell peppers and onions were still raw and crunchy. The cream sauce had no flavor whatsoever and the flavorless chicken wasn't even completely covered in the sauce. Obviously cooked separately, then tossed in. Yuck! What a shame! I will say this though, the mango margarita was pretty tasty!

taco was soggy , server didn't check on me much and I paid $41 when I didn't even eat my whole meal . Place is the same as Aztec restaurant instead Aztec is way better in food quality, customer service , and speed . I will not be back !!

I experienced good customer service and food here. The staff is extremely welcoming and cares about their customers. One person I was with sent her food back twice because of not understanding the menu (her fault, not the restaurant's fault). The waitress was so patient with her and allowed her to reorder. Really nice dining room and there is also a outdoor dining area.

Went here for a friends birthday. They had great customer service and even did something special for her which I thought was really sweet. They even gave some dessert that I would say was better than the entree I got. I got the fajitas and it was not at all what I expected. The onions were not cooked the way I liked. Usually the meat looks seasoned more but this meal just looked more "white" in appearance and there were more veggies than meat. I was a bit disappointed since I never had a fajita that disappointed me. However, I must say their drinks were pretty good as well as their guac. I came on a day where they had a band going on so that made my experience a bit better.

    Receipt

it's illegal to charge gratitude without NOTICE, it need to be printed on the menu or on the establishment as AD .. or even verbally, your customers need to know that the gratuity it's included for a table family of 4, if that's the policy it's ok, but we need to know. If they don't want to have it printed clear and loud, your server need to let you know. And the 18 % it's before taxes. The 18% of $76.45 it's $13.76 NOT $17.08.

So delicious l... I was seriously craving Mexican food done the right way and this place did not disappoint. Everything was fresh all the way down to the guacamole that was made at the bar while I watched. The enchiladas were amazing with the rice and refried beans...oh yeah they will be seeing me again soon. This week!!

I originally was going to place the order online, but they're online option said it was unavailable so I went inside and sat down at the bar. The service was OK though it seemed most people did not speak English, which is fine. It just made it kind of harder to communicate. That said the food was decent but the reason why I gave two stars was because I feel very misled on pricing. The menu showed Que Siberia tacos three for $12. Steak/Asada tacos for three dollars which brings my total to 15+ the two drinks. I thought she said it was $20.80 so I paid it with my card and gave her five dollars cash for a tip. I get to the car just to double check the transaction and she charged me 3499 on my card and took the cash. I went back inside to confront her about this advising. She completely overcharged me, and she only offered to give my six dollars tip back to me. I am now going to dispute the transaction with my bank because I was unable to resolve this issue. That's sad.

Tacos El Nevado came highly recommended, so I headed over for lunch with high hopes. The restaurant was packed when I arrived around 1:30 p.m., which is usually a good sign. It appears to be a converted fast-food building with its own parking lot, outdoor patio, and a casual, family-friendly atmosphere. Despite the Charlotte heat pushing triple digits, the dining room was comfortable and bustling. Service was friendly from the start, and I was quickly seated with ice water, lemon, fresh chips, and three house-made salsas. The chips were excellent--fresh, crisp, and clearly made in-house. The standout salsa for me was the red salsa, which packed plenty of heat and flavor. There was also a tomatillo salsa and a creamy green avocado-style salsa. Both were good, although the tomatillo leaned a little too tart for my taste. The menu is extensive, with everything from seafood dishes and quesadillas to tacos and larger combination plates. As someone who loves sampling a little of everything, I was hoping for more traditional combo options, but this menu takes a different approach. I ordered the crispy taco plate with rice and beans. The presentation was attractive, with the tacos served upright in a metal rack alongside refried beans and Mexican rice. The rice and beans were both delicious and easily the highlight of the plate. Where things got mixed for me was the taco filling. I was expecting a straightforward seasoned ground beef taco, but the beef filling tasted more like a guisado-style preparation with a softer texture and a slightly tangy flavor profile. It may simply be a regional style or a misunderstanding when ordering, but it wasn't what I had anticipated. The chicken taco, however, was excellent. Tender, flavorful, and clearly made with higher-quality chicken than you typically find in a crispy taco. After trying it, I immediately wished I had ordered all chicken. While this visit didn't completely win me over, I don't think it's fair to judge a restaurant by one dish. The packed dining room, friendly service, fresh chips, excellent salsas, and strong chicken taco all suggest there's more to explore here. Next time, I'd skip the crispy beef tacos and dive into the street tacos or some of the house specialties that seem to be what many regulars were ordering. Tacos El Nevado didn't become my favorite Mexican restaurant in Charlotte on this visit, but it earned a second chance. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte. Keep exploring. Sometimes the next great meal is just one menu item away.

I fell in love with Superica when I first moved to Charlotte nearly three years ago, and it quickly…read morebecame one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavorful Tex-Mex. But I have to start with a small heartbreak: my beloved puffy taco is gone. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where the puffy taco was created, and it's deeply nostalgic for me. It's not a sope, not a tostada--it's a true puffy taco, light, airy, and unlike anything else. For a long time, Superica made one that came remarkably close to what I grew up with. Unfortunately, after changes in leadership and kitchen management, it quietly disappeared from the menu. That was a real disappointment. That said, I still come back--because the food here is consistently good. The crispy tacos with picadillo are my current favorite. Picadillo (P-I-C-A-D-I-L-L-O) is a traditional Latin dish with many regional variations, and this version reminds me of the one my grandmother used to make in San Antonio. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the menu offers something for everyone--from enchiladas and chile rellenos to steaks and fresh tableside guacamole. Speaking of guacamole, I'm a purist. I like it simple: avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, garlic--chunky and clean. Superica delivers on that. The chips and salsa are bottomless, the salsa has great depth of flavor, and for those who like heat, they offer a tiny dropper of hot sauce that is smoky, bold, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. The ginger margarita is another standout. It comes with a generous piece of crystallized ginger and has a bright, balanced flavor that makes it easy to order a second one. And if you have room for dessert, do not skip the tres leches cake--rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciate the little touches here: * Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff * A lively bar area that's great for happy hour * A beautiful outdoor patio that makes al fresco dining feel special * And a fun tradition of sending you home with a packaged Texas praline This South End location is my personal favorite. It feels more adult and relaxed, while the Strawberry Hill location tends to be more family-heavy. Both are good, but the vibe here suits me better. Yes, prices have crept up a bit--as they have everywhere--but the quality, consistency, and atmosphere keep me coming back. And as someone who travels frequently for work across multiple states, I appreciate that Superica maintains a dependable standard wherever I encounter it. Bottom line: Even without the puffy taco, Superica remains one of my favorite Tex-Mex spots in Charlotte. Come hungry, bring friends, share plates--and as always, travel safe and eat well.

I had the cheese enchiladas and it was really delicious. The enchilada sauce was tasty. The rice and beans are also family style and was a nice addition.
