Today I thought, "I am gonna try this place." I am very happy I did. Jay's has been in business since 1943. It's not flashy, no catchy jingles or signs. There are no order kiosks. In reality, it should be called a Drive-up. So, I drive-up, park and on the side of the building is the menu. There were burgers (which I obviously ordered). There were ham sandwiches, catfish sandwiches, pretty much an eclectic collection of foods. I ordered the Homestyle burger. It was fabulous. Instead of the normal pre made, or flash frozen burger, this was real beef, a whole half-pound patty made the way Mom makes them. It was juicy, salted perfectly, and actually tasted the way a beef patty should taste. "Homestyle" comes with actual fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles. It was perfect. I also ordered the cheese fries. They were soooo good. After eating burgers all over Pampa, I finally found the real deal at a little gray building on the corner of Hobart and the Borger highway. The burger itself was $5.75, and well worth the price, however I did not pay for it. Some very kind lady pid for my food. I don't know why. She just did.
