You have to love (or you really should) businesses that find themselves at the end of a long, strange, winding road; a road where the state ends it's maintenance and a road when you come back, you're informed you've entered the jurisdiction of another country (Alexandria). Dominion Towing, Inc., a source of true joy and happiness for many hapless parkers, lies at the end of such a road. It's nestled between the Beltway, train tracks, metro tracks, and Four Mile Run. Barbed-wire fences mark the boundaries between you and your offending vehicles. Nice, surly, and mildly-sympathetic folks work behind the wheels and windows of this operation. I've been to worse places in search of my (or my friends) lost vehicles. I've never been to a tow-yard at then end of such a wild street, one that seems to find itself drawn on a map without too much blank space so the mapmakers said, "What random crap can we put on that road?" In NoVA, the answer is supply, shutter, fence, and towing companies. Happy hunting! read more

Dominion Towing - Everyone's happy place... - Towing Near Me - Alexandria, Virginia

My car was towed from directly in front of my house on Thanksgiving night after being parked for only a short time while unloading luggage. When I went to pick it up, the front desk actually said "thank you for your business, come again," which felt extremely unprofessional and sarcastic given the situation. The spot they towed from is a wide "fire lane" that's easily big enough for two cars to pass, and in all the time I've lived here I've never seen a fire truck use it. It feels less like a real safety issue and more like aggressive, predatory towing in our neighborhood, especially on a holiday. read more

I wish I could give 0 star. I pay for reserved parking at my apt complex and they are bound to have my license plates registered, still towing my car for $200 with a reason that I need a sticker. I parked in the parking for nearly a year without any sticker and no issue, just suddenly happened when they are bored. I dont think they deserve even $50, let alone $200 to celebrate the achievement of stalking people while they are sleeping at night. A rat!! read more

This business is not BBB no wonder as you look at the reviews. They are shady and quite frankly their practices should be illegal. The so called manager Alex is very unprofessional, sarcastic and rude. They should be investigated immediately. The way they tow cars is sketchy. I would not recommend this business and I suspect they will not continue to get away with these practices because Karma should come like a wave which they deserve. read more

Thieves. They towed my car during the snowstorm, claiming I wasn't close enough to the curb. The snow prevented it! I was safely parked in a slot with a barrier between my car and the road. Very rude people who act like vultures. $240. So many other similar stories. They should be investigated and shut down. read more

Thieves! They tow cars from areas where there are no clear warning signs. A Target employee told me that this company continuously circles the Target parking lot, waiting for people to leave so they can immediately tow their vehicles. read more

THIEVES. PREDATORY TOWING!!!! I'm sorry if they tow you too, but if you need a tow DO NOT USE THEM. They are money hungry and illegally towing. I had a car WITH A PERMIT parked in PERMIT ONLY PARKING. The permit has NO date on it, but they said oh we know that place has updated permits. Renters have been given no such thing. The police won't help you, once they have your car you have no choice but to pay. read more

Always towing people even if you have the parking pass. You can tell they are unprofessional by the way the owner or who ever comments certain reviews. Super unprofessional. This company obviously has issues and nobody likes them. So they should just stop answering comments and saying you guys are polite, your ignorant owner or who ever is answering you can tell she is doing it just to be petty. Update: Here you can see again their unprofessional behavior by answering customers like that instead of requesting customers to reach out to their customer service representatives and have the conversation over the phone. Looks like nobody needs education to open a business. Good luck! There is always ways to improve and accept feedback without being defensive. Thanks read more

if i could give zero stars i would. the tower is an idiot and rude. I found him outside in the parking lot just kicking my tires and knocking on my windows with his flashlight. Once he saw me approaching my car he walked away with no words said. This is shitty treatment. read more

This company is definitely not out to help motorists in distress, their bread and butter is towing vehicles in tow away zones. I was in a 2 hour parking spot and couldn't have gone past that by more than 30 minutes before I was towed and I had to have been the first vehicle towed...why? Because I was the biggest payday for them because I was an oversize vehicle. The tow truck actually came back for another car while I was waiting on an Uber. What kind of A**holes want to make a living ripping people off for not doing any harm. The parking lot I was towed from was empty and this was after all the businesses were closed. read more

BE CAREFUL ABOUT THE MISOGYNISTIC, UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGER IF YOU EVER NEED TO CALL/VISIT THEIR OFFICE I was towed and my car was damaged by them, so I asked the person working at the parking lot how I would get access to photos before they towed my car. He said I could call the office and someone at the office would send me an email of photos they were supposed to take. Hence, I called them and simply asked I wonder if I could receive an email of the phots and the manager impatiently answered "WHAT?" I said "I want to upload a claim so I need pictures you guys took before towing my car" and he started to get very aggressive and rude "your attitude is nasty. BITCH, you are an ASSHOLE". Throughout the entire call, I explained I was told to call and I would receive an email if I made the call and he kept calling me out BITCH AND ASSHOLE, and even said "I'm the manager. If you want photos, come to my office." As a woman, there is no way I feel comfortable being in the same room with such a potential criminal figure with hate speech. read more

Discussing company. I was parked at my home with the correct parking tag and parked in the correct area but they towed my vehicle for an expired registration sticker. I got back from deployment less than a week ago and had very little time to change my plates. They had to walk behind my vehicle to even see the plate sticker, which was not the intended purpose of towing from the association. read more

"Making Shoppers Into Criminals to Make Profits" What do you get when a pirate and a fecal pile hump each other and produce spawn? Answer: Dominion Towing. I didn't request their services. They towed me for the "charge" of "Park and Walk." More on that in a minute. What was the value of their services? Answer: Enduring being fined and injured by them. What was the quality of their services? Scratches to my car, and items missing from the interior of the car. At Potomac Yard Shopping Center is an adjoining government building with a parking lot that abuts the Target parking lot. I knew not to park there, because I've seem the tow-turds grabbing cars from that location. What I did not know was that you can park in Potomac Yard Shopping Center's parking lot, and, if you walk to any of the nearby and visible businesses that are not connected to the shopping center, you can be towed, even if you've just patronized the shopping center's stores. That is what is referred to as a charge of "Park and Walk." This is a jazzed up charge, made to be the equivalent of commuter drivers using the lot -- and it isn't remotely something worthy of the harassment of shoppers. I had frequented other businesses in the shopping center that morning, and had receipts to prove it. I had a car full of groceries, ruined when the car was towed away to an impound lot far away on the other side of the city. What were the details of my sin? The south end of the shopping center's parking lot has a wide swath of parking spaces, with no visible signs listing any warnings. You can pull in, look to the left and the right, and see nothing warning you that you risk towing if you walk to adjoining businesses. Upon searching later for a sign in this large expanse, I did find one -- very far from the space I occupied, hidden in a tree's branches. It read "Walk-Off Parkers will be Towed." But how would anyone know what the term "Walk-Off Parkers" means? And how, if you've been shopping in stores in the shopping center, does entering an adjoining business for five minutes suddenly become trespassing when almost no signage is posted? I walked thirty steps to the Giant Food Store on the south perimeter of the shopping center, to buy a box of cake mix. Technically, I'd left the shopping center's property, and when I returned ten minutes later, the greasy shxts had swooped in and grabbed my car. Any knuckle-dragging primate should have had no problem seeing the bags of perishable groceries in the car, thus discerning that no one had "left the premises" for more than a few minutes. I took my shopping center store receipts to the impound lot, to show that I'd been shopping in the shopping center. They gouged me anyway. The car also had scratches and items missing from the interior, all dismissed summarily, when they pointed to a sign that reads: "Not responsible for damages or missing items." This is just a lot of "gotcha cause we can getcha" slime-covered evilness. They've set a lair, a trap, to grab some of the people who are shopping in Potomac Yard Shopping Center, and rip them off, not to mention wreck their schedules. There was no reason to rip me off, after I made it clear with receipts that I'd been visiting the stores in the shopping center. It is all a slick con job, perpetrated by turds. Beware of this scam, operating under cover of the law. read more

Seeing my brother off before his flight, they tow my car while it's parked in the visitor's space, which belongs to my brother. I've seen this so often in low income communities. It's time to get this company out of business. Dominion is a predatory towing company that only patrols and tow cars in lower income areas. They do not tow in Kingstowne or other high middle class areas because they know those residents have the resources to complain and fight back. I encourage residents to contact: Attorney General, Mark Herring 1(804)786-4718 Also check: https://www.oag.state.va.us/consumer-protection/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=184 Dominion takes hard earned money from families to support their illegal towing operations. Their business model is corrupt! The fact a private company can take your belongings without allowing you to justify why they shouldn't is an issue. Dominion needs to go. Towing of cars should be a reactive business. If a resident or HOA calls for a car to be removed I get it, but proactively taking money from people and inventing violations to make a buck is disgusting. We need better in our communities. Better service and respect. No INTEGRITY read more

Quite a racket. The state makes nonsensical rules that honest but busy people cannot follow. They delegate their nonexistent enforcement to private for-profit companies. Nobody's safety is ever at risk. Nobody else is demonstrably deprived of anything to which they had a right. But there is every incentive to maximize outrageous fees and none to do other than to sit on someone else's duly paid property. First of all, no one at an impound needs a history lecture about the laws of the vaunted Commonwealth (former seat of the Confederacy as is generally known). I just live here, and not forever, as I know acutely how much this godforsaken place costs. Second, if you want to talk about the law, restricting what personal possessions the owner can retrieve -- particularly when you have no keys and zero need to "operate" a vehicle -- is a statutory no-no. Ms. Ashley or whomever, you need not bother responding to tell me I'm entitled to my opinion. You're darn right I am, I paid handsomely for it. read more

This company is a SCAM, they will try to add up more charges than the towing fee like (gas) to get more money from you as if $135 from "storage fee" and another $25 from "towing fee" was not enough scam for them, they have the audacity to charge $20 on gas for less than 3 miles which wasn't even worth a gallon of gas. We just came home to find a man suspiciously looking at our neighbor's car. Our neighbor's small sedan was barely parked off the apron of his garage and the garage door was half open. This guy seemed startled as he was trying to get a picture of the inside of the car with his phone. When he saw us, he quickly hid his phone and hurriedly walked away. That's when we saw the back of his shirt which read Dominion Towing. We watched as he went to his hidden tow truck parked around the corner between buildings and then he drove up behind us. He asked us to move from our driveway as we were unloading items. We told him we would be only a minute. As soon as we pulled away he swooped in and towed our neighbor's car...what a great Father's Day surprise. Shame on you, Dominion Towing. read more

Was at a Potomac Yard shopping center to do grocery shopping with my brother. We parked in the parking lot between the Target and the Giant. After shopping in Target we put our bags away and walked to Giant. We were in Giant for less than 20 minutes and this company towed my brother's car. We have done this multiple times and always have seen other people doing the same. Like today, 2 other set of people did the same at the exact same time. We assumed his car was stolen because we never considered that we were parked in violation. We were told the company was watching us and as soon as we walked away they came to tow. Apparently if you are shopping at the Giant ( which is only steps away) you are no longer considered a customer for that parking lot. A ridiculously rule, but that's fine. I just feel like we ( 2 young African America adults) were targeted when others ( older Caucasian people) did the exact same thing. read more

Horrible, horrible, horrible. This is not the first time I've been towed but at least in the past I knew exactly why I got towed and I didn't feel like something illegal was being done to me. This company is more like a thief in the night and must give kickbacks to the apartment communities that hire them. They prey on people. My car was parked in visitor parking, there was a bright sign behind a set of parking spaces labeled "Visitor Parking" and it was also labeled/marked in the individual parking spaces. However, some genius (probably from Dominion) spray painted every letter in "Visitor" in black over the white writing and expects people to now think that because it's highlighted in black that it automatically means "Reserved" parking now?? It would make more sense to just re-paint the new label as "Reserved" or maybe even spray paint it, if your true intention is to let people know that this is now a reserved parking space. Especially since literally 10 feet away there are Reserved parking spaces that are individually labeled/marked..ding ding ding - "Reserved." But these people are swindlers and con artists getting away with what should be larceny. They are too shady and dishonest to have discretion and shouldn't be allowed to make any type of judgement call about whether or not a car should get towed. It's a total con game. I won't even get into the racial undertones and slurs thrown at me when I went to get my car back. I will be reporting this company to the apartment complex and to the Better Business Bureau. Whomever has the job of replying to these reviews, I don't need you to respond telling me that you couldn't find my vehicle or giving me a number to speak to a Dominion supervisor. That's not why I'm leaving the review. I'm leaving the review because I think you're a terribly run company that shouldn't be in business. read more
