During their work, we pointed out visible microbial and bacterial growth in the master closet and adjoining walls. Instead of testing, containing, or removing the contaminated drywall, their team dismissed our concerns and enclosed the visible growth behind new drywall and paint -- despite being directly shown the contamination. Independent inspections later confirmed that Dri-Rite sealed toxic mold (Stachybotrys chartarum) and bacteria inside the wall, contaminating our home and forcing our family to evacuate for safety. Their supervisor even admitted they had no testing equipment on site and told us to hire our own environmental company. We later discovered one of Dri-Rite's contractor licenses was suspended at the time they worked in our home, which is now part of a formal complaint with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors and the Department of Insurance (Case #73008). Our experience with Dri-Rite has caused serious health issues, significant financial loss, and months of displacement. Homeowners should exercise extreme caution before allowing this company to perform any work involving water damage or potential microbial contamination.

For what should have been a multi-day dry out only, WF tore out carpeting throughout the entire house unnecessarily. They also brought in their "sister company," a certain packing out company that started to move the tenant family's belongings to some remote location. Fortunately, the family stopped in and made the movers move their belongings into the garage instead of off-site. I walked directly into their trap. The leak was on a Friday. Plumber repair happened Saturday. I had them stop in on Sunday, ahead of insurance. The real secret to their "success" is in their fine print in their work order. If you do what I did, and hastily sign with them, they will likely outrun what insurance will pay for, and you'll be on the hook for a big bill. I tried to fight, but they have mastered the process of placing a mechanic's lien on a property (11 since November 2022) and securing profits that way if the opportunity arises. Water Fighters is not the only company that uses mechanic's liens. I'm sure liens are necessary at times, but it appears to be a tool that can be utilized as part of a corrupt scheme when possible. Check the Maricopa County Recorders Office website and search for legal efforts by any company by Document Title. Water mitigation has the potential to be particularly pernicious because one wants to move quickly to minimize damage and prevent mold or mildew growth. That's part of the trap I jumped into. Don't let Cesar Lauro Ontiveros Perez, or anyone associated with Water Fighters, near your property. Don't call them and definitely don't sign with them. I imagine most of the reviews on their website, like other elements of their website, are not authentic and are designed to deceive. No water mitigation license is needed to "perform" water mitigation. All one needs is any contractors license. This is in AZ and many other states. Fancy thermal imaging cameras to detect moisture does not mean someone knows how to work within professional standards governing water damage mitigation and restoration, or work with an insurance adjuster. Finally, call a PUBLIC ADJUSTER. Public Adjusters work for you to manage the efforts between your insurance company and any contractors. Yes, they get a percentage of your claim for their efforts but it is worth it to avoid what I went through. I called one for the rebuild and it made for an amazing turnaround from the awful experience with WF. NAPIA is the national association for public adjusters. They know the insurance industry and will probably know your policy better than you do. Your first call can and should be to a public adjuster. You will do much better overall with your claims if you work with a Public Adjuster.

This review is for the first one, a bedroom ceiling/roof leak that needed mold mitigation, asbestos testing and renovation. March 2025: Leak originally started as a moisture spot on the ceiling in October 2024 but my HOA ignored it. By March 2025, the ceiling had become so compromised that water streamed in like a waterfall during a massive storm. My original contact was Noah - he gave me an estimate (along with two other companies). I really appreciated how Noah was communicative, informative and thorough. And! he didn't badger me w/ phone calls & emails, like the other two companies did. He understood that I said I would take care of the situation when I could b/c I was in the middle of Massage Therapy school. I understood the "risks" of having mold & just shut the bedroom off. Fast forward to August 2025 & now we're ready to take care of the situation. Noah followed protocol of getting an asbestos test first. Luckily, it was negative. Then Spencer, their Mitigation Specialist? built a special containment room, inside the guest bedroom that sealed off the contaminated area. Heavy duty fans stayed on for about 72 hours? so the area could be thoroughly dried after being treated w/ some kind of mold treatment. Noah was available via text when I had questions - that was surprising & super helpful! Once Mitigation was completed, Noah connected me w/ Jacob at their Restoration Department. He sent over a stellar crew led by David & they proceeded to rebuild about a quarter of the bedroom - meant to mention that they had to rip out dry wall, scaffolding, etc. This crew rebuilt and then refinished the area, including re-installing wainscotting and painting the ceiling + walls. The results? This bedroom looks gorgeous! We were thrilled with how thorough/smooth ATH was w/ this process & how the renovation turned out. It was a nightmare when I walked in (water running for 7 Hours, completely ruined an entire office and the showroom below it). I called the first company I saw online and luckily it was Go To Services. They showed up within 30 minutes and reassured me that they would handle everything. Within an hour there, more than a dozen people showed up to save the day. I have a vivid memory of them all walking in with smiles on their faces and letting me know that it would be handled before I knew it. My blood pressure dropped immediately. It wasn't long before they had cleaned all the water up, had fans blowing, dehumidifiers running, had plastic everywhere, and we were discussing how they could put it all back together. Which they did....in record time! Not only was I happy but my tenants all raves about them over the coming weeks as they put things back together. The finished product was on point. Lack of respect for the home with issues like damage done to preexisting items and significant paint over spray. Constant miscommunications with who was showing up when. Went through three project managers and still needed to have an outside contractor come in and check all the work daily. Things broken and then hidden. They do the bare minimum and then see how much you are willing to complain. Cracked materials used, damage to stainless steel appliances by resting other metal items on them. Weeks and weeks of waiting to go things ordered. They wasted my own left over materials I gave them to use. Easily the worst situation I have had with a company . The mold mitigation team and Alex in the front office were awesome and lured me into a false sense that they could do the rebuild. They did win in that I finally just had to tell them to get out and have the rest done and a cleaning crew come in. I will be sharing this to all platforms, review sites and the better business bureau. The only advantage I had was they were part of my home insurance so I had to sign off on there work. I did extremely reluctantly. I have extensive documentation of everything. They will not be working with my home insurance company again and I warn anyone else from using them.
