I have been searching for a new salon to get my haircut since moving here and found this place via Yelp with decent reviews. I went to Fantastic Cuts today and received a haircut by presumably the owner since she was the only person at the shop. The haircut was okay, I don't nitpick, which is the reason why I am giving it another star. The thing that boggles my mind is that I was charged an extra $5 for a "complicated haircut" - what?! I have a mohawk and requested to clean it up, I don't understand how that would be defined as complicated. In addition, she knew it was my first time and charged me without explanation until I asked. This penny-pinching tactic have lost a potential regular customer. I don't think a 10 minute haircut should constitute an additional fee - I won't be coming back.

Not over the shoulders. I wear my hair up a lot. Admittedly, my hair was fried but the thing to do would be to get to where you can and have a conversation before continuing if it's going to not be what the customer wants. This didn't happen. She very easily could have cut 2 inches and said we should take more off - is that ok? Nope. Instead, she cut off a good 5-6 inches of my hair without saying a word. When I saw how much she cut off I freaked out a little and she just said "sorry". Half my head was already cut. She kept going. I went with it because at this point, what am I going to do? Leave with my left side 5 inches shorter than my right and still have to have it evened out somewhere else? Walk around like a crazy person until I can get an appt? I gave the benefit of the doubt, let her finish (like what choice did I have?) - even went so far as to pay cash and left a 20% tip bc she shared some personal things with me which made me feel bad for her, not because she did a good job. It's been a couple of days and I just washed & styled my hair as I normally do and it's just a mess. It's shorter than my shoulders and frizzy as heck. I contacted her to let her know I was unhappy and ask for a partial refund. She told me no refunds while repeatedly admitted she needs to work on her listening skills (as a hairdresser???). She also proceeded to insult me personally, tell me it would grow out, blah blah blah. So here's the lesson - treat your customers with a modicum of respect. I wasn't going to post a bad review until she started telling me my hair was the problem and not her lack of attention. I've had literally 30+ curly cuts from other stylists and never had this issue before, so this isn't just me being difficult to please. This is a hairdresser simply not listening to the customer and then being obstinate and insulting on top of it...despite admitting they weren't listening. Heck no. I look like a Q-tip.

She was running just a smidge behind schedule, but once I sat down, she asked me how I wanted my hair style to look. She diligently looked for the line separating my hair growth direction and used that as a starting point. I was pretty pleased with the haircut, but I was taken aback since I was told over the phone that a haircut is $25 and a haircut + Shampoo was $30. However, I was charged the full $30 amount for the haircut even though I never got the shampoo/wash. Other than that, I was find with the haircut and would recommend this place for asian haircuts. Drea from Zig Zag Salon popped up so I gave her a call and was sitting in her chair two days later. I went in with nice normal blonde hair with highlights and 5 hours later I walked out with AMAZING mother of pearl hair just like the Pinterest picture I had shown her. I couldn't believe how amazing it looked! She had to Bleach my hair twice and put in 7 different colors of hair dye to make it happen and shockingly my hair isn't completely fried! I wanted to wait awhile to do this review to see if the color would actually stay in or not. I just made my appointment for a touchup on some of the colors "pinks don't like to stick around long" but all the blues, purples and greens are still hanging in there pretty strong! My first appointment was 2/14/17 and today is 3/9/17 This is such a cute little family owned and run Salon. Price is on point too! I was amazed at what I was charged for 5 hours of work.
