The beautiful landscaping with eucalyptus and pear trees that surrounds my home is both a blessing and a curse. When those trees fill up, my neighbors start asking when I'm going to do everything I can to avoid having leaves fall onto their yard. It's a two-day job, always, and never a pleasant bill to pay. I met with several tree trimming companies and collected bids. Then I found a business card for Domingo's Tree Service on my front door, and had I stopped at the 3 star review, I would have missed out on the best tree cutting experience I have had so far. Jennifer answered my call and as scheduled, she stopped by my home to do an onsite review and assessment of what needed to be done. Jennifer (Jenny) was professional, well-versed in her occupation, and she said she would stop by each day the project took. It took two days and she was here to inspect each time. The crew consisted of a professional named Francisco. I bonded with him right away. He knows his stuff, and not just about trees, but about sprinklers, and gardening and ALL of the things I wish my current gardening professional would help out with. The crew was very nice, and as each tree was prepared to my specification, Francisco would invite me outside to check on the work and make suggestions. It felt like a partnership, without me having to endure the heat for too long. The job was completed. The price was the most competitive. We are very happy, and not only am I going to refer Domingo's out, I am actually going to request quotes on some yard work I need done. Who knows, I may have a new gardening team when this is all over. The crew made sure to put tarp over our vinyl fences to prevent scratches. PLEASE NOTE: This review belongs to a job from a few years ago (and purposely I am not posting the year). I had held back on posting this review for the possibility of Domingo retaliating. The family members that are currently running the business have posted their answer to my original posting, and they are stating that Domingo has passed away. So this review applies to the time when Domingo himself was alive. First "God Bless his Soul" and second, just hope that the family members currently running the business have improved their business practices and have corrected all of the below mentioned issues that I have raised !!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Updated Posting: Domingo did a bad job, and broke several flagstones and pavers on our property (see pictures attached) and when I asked Domingo to please send someone to fix and replace them, Domingo started cursing and threatening me, so I told him I'm going to call the police before he backed off! ADDITIONALLY, be aware that at times Domingo Tree Care / Service also goes by DT Tree Care Inc. Make sure you check their license (if you need him to be licensed) PLUS both of his insurance certificates, by googling the insurance agent's name and calling the agent DIRECTLY yourself (insurance agent's name will be on top of the certificate that he or his daughter will show you) to see if both insurances are still valid. If it's valid then ask Domingo Tree Care to instruct their agent to name you (the homeowner) as " Additional Insured" and email or fax you DIRECTLY the certificates. This is the norm if you want to be assured that you will be covered. Make sure the email or fax is coming directly from the agent and not Domingo Tree to make sure it is unaltered. NOTICE: Some people buy insurance on a payment plan, pay for the first couple of months to get the certificate (which shows it is valid for 1 year) and stop paying! Therefore the insurance gets cancelled. So if anything happens you will not be covered and will be responsible and will be sued as a homeowner. It happened to a friend of mine (his tree trimmer's insurance was not valid as the guy had not paid as explained above). Then when one of the workers fell off a tree, my friend got sued and he was lucky as his homeowners insurance FINALLY covered it after a long and painful lawsuit which he had to even go after his own insurance to pay up. They had to pay in excess of $300,000. This is a high risk job, and workers do sometimes fall out of trees. Domingo back then gave us insurance certificates, but after his unprofessional conduct I got suspicious and when we called the insurance agent on the certificate to verify, they informed us that Domingo hadn't paid and the insurance was canceled & the certificates no longer good. FYI, any contractor doing any kind of work at your house or business needs to have 2 insurances: Liability Insurance (to cover any damage to property or persons if caused by them), AND Workman Compensation insurance (to cover the contractor's workers/employees) if they get injured while working at your property. So basically he sent a no good contractor license (back then could not find his contractor license on California's contractors license database), and expired insurance certificates to get the job! I called and confronted Domingo himself on the fact that he gave us an expired Liability insurance certificate from DT Care Inc., plus NO WORKMAN COMPENSATION insurance, and Domingo started cursing and threatening me, so as explained earlier I had to tell him that I'm going to call the police before he backed off! read more

This place is highly unprofessional. I scheduled an appointment, and was told I would be contacted the day before to confirm timing. There was no confirmation call and I had to call several times and leave multiple messages before I was able to speak with Sonia. I informed Sonia that I would be unavailable the next day after 3 pm and was told I could expect a call about 1 pm, an hour before they planned to come to cut the trees. Lo and behold, no call came and Sonia called after 3 pm, when I was in an online meeting. When I told her I couldn't talk, she said she didn't want my business if I was too busy to talk with her! I guess Domingo's Tree Care has more customers than they need and don't need to feel accountable to customers. This was a good warning: If a company can't be decent before they do any work, you can pretty well bet they won't be decent should something go wrong. read more

Sloppy, dishonest and their idea of trimming a tree is just to cut off every branch. SLOPPY: I had just had my house painted and they destroyed the paint when they were dragging the branches out to the street. I had to have the side of my house repainted. DISHONEST: I had a Buddha statue in my yard and they broke the head off. I would have forgiven that but they didn't tell me about it instead they used a twig to wedge the head back on. They took no care in how the trees would look. They just got up there and started hacking. I am just hoping that the tree comes back to its previous glory. Since purchasing our home in the 1990's we have had several tree care companies service our property. Usually the companies are one off's and you never want to work with them again or to hear from them again. Jennifer and Sonia who run Domingo's Tree Care are the first and only company I would trust. This is their second visit in 18 months and can't recommend them highly enough. I called them earlier this year when we put on a new roof and they said tell the roofer that the time to trim is after summer ends since we trimmed them in January 2021. The workers did a good job cutting the hedge, however when we try to pay we wanted to use credit card, the worker put us in touch with the owner a woman who told me shut the fuck up and list to me, when I told her that we were not aware of them not taking credit card. Wow!.... These guys are top-notch. I'm writing this at 10am...they showed up at 7am to trim 2 very large CA pines. They are now cleaning up. Not only did they trim the trees very well, they took off a few tall spires that were concerning to us. They moved a paly structure out of the way, moved walkway lights that may have gotten damaged, roped off all of the heavy limbs before cutting to be able to lower them down versus just letting them drop. I've already called the owner to let them know how fantastic their team is. I will definitely be using them again and referring them out to anyone that I know looking for tree service. read more

I am not one to write reviews but when my wife has to call the cops on an employee for trying to look into our house and open the door without our consent I had to write a review... They dropped trees limbs on our house like bombs without even checking to see if anybody was inside. My wife could of been severely injured. And instead of knocking they peaked through our window and tried to open the door cause they thought the house was "under construction." The man then told the cops, "I wanted to make sure nobody was injured inside." If you wanted to make sure nobody was injured why not KNOCK first before working and give the people living there warning before starting? Their unprofessional work did destructive damage to the inside of our house. We had to get painter's to repaint the house. And have to get new roofing from all the damages. I should've started by checking Yelp in the first place: This is the most unprofessional service I have ever had the displeasure of interfacing with. I called and left a message requesting service to be done at my home. I received a return call within 4 hours and scheduled an appointment at 7:30 AM to which they requested an hour to review all of the items that I needed to have done (7:30am - 8:30am). The woman who called me was insistent that I be there on time because they don't like wasting time. At 8:05 the morning if the appointment I called them to find out where they were as they had not shown and I had not received any notification that they would be late. At 8:29 AM the owner, Domingo, showed up at my doorstep. I had explain to him that I am a consultant and had a conference call I needed to conduct at 8:30 AM which was my primary reason for setting the appointment at the request of time. He seemed disturbed and abruptly left my promises. I had half expected a call back from them requesting to reschedule but had not heard from them. A week later I contacted Domingo's Tree Care once again to schedule an appointment and left a message. Domingo, the owner, called me and appeared annoyed at my calling him. He stated, "I am the owner and have a lot of work and don't need every call for business. If you are going to be so strict on time, I don't need that or that job." I promptly let him know I would go elsewhere to have the work done because if this was indicative of his attitude toward job offers, then he disrespect of other's time will be his downfall. I hung up as he was starting to raise his voice (he was going on about how he was 1 minute early before 8:30-not sure what he extracted to accomplish in 30 seconds). Stay away from these unprofessionals. They called me at 1:15 to cancel an appointment between 1-2pm for which I had to take time off work and rearrange my schedule for. The lady on the phone was insincere, unapologetic, and sarcastic about the late cancellation saying it's only 13 minutes past the appointment time saying "sorry you had to change your whole life around." The estimator "Domingo" promised that our pool would be covered during tree removal, it wasn't, and that he would be there during the job, he wasn't. The crew was supposed to show up Saturday so I could be there, but called and stated that they had an opening Friday afternoon and would prefer to remove the tree then. My wife stated that no one would be there when they would start, but if they covered the pool when they start, I would be home about two thirty or three to check on them. When I arrived home, the pool was filled with sawdust and chain saw 2 stroke oil; it was a complete disaster. I rushed over and shut down the pump and asked where "Domingo" was, to which one of the workers replied "No esta, aqui". I spent over two hours trying to fish out the debris and ended having to call out the pool guy to check on the pool and see if it was safe to restart the filter. The filter is so full of sawdust that I am going to have to have it taken apart and cleaned, another expense. Thanks "Domingo" for not doing what you said that you were going to do. As information, I withheld a small portion of the payment and wrote a note to "Domingo" instructing him to call me about the pool. I have never heard from them regarding this issue. Worst. Ever. I called after they left their card in the door, promising "work guaranteed. insurance. Since 1990" etc. When I called, the assistant made the appointment, and repeated how important it was that I be there between 1 & 2pm and not to cancel. At 120pm Domingo called, asking for the address again. I gave it to him, asking where he was and trying to help with directions. He said he would put it into his GPS and would be here in a half hour. At 240pm I called back, leaving a message on his cell voicemail. At 310pm I called the assistant back, and she said she would find out what was happening and call me back. Nothing. At 530pm I called back to the company line, and Domingo answered, saying he was the owner and didn't want to do business with me, cursing me out, and making threats, saying he knew where I lived and that he would bring his workers with him and cause me trouble. After refusing to say what had changed, he said he got a better job. NEVER EVER do business with this man or company. Wish I had checked here first before making the call. read more

I have been using Domingo's Tree Care for the past 6 years and they are always professional, prompt and affordable. Every single person you deal with in this company from Sonia on the phone, Jennifer who gave me the quote to the excellent crew who do the work are polite, respectful and wonderful to work with. They had me check their work multiple times throughout the job to make sure we were all on the same page with how much they were trimming off and made adjustments as needed. My trees look healthy now! They don't top the trees, instead they lace and feather them from within to the outside branches - exactly how a tree should be trimmed! And the clean up! I have never seen any company clean up as completely as they did - left my property cleaner than how they found it! So happy! I will continue to give them all of my tree care business. read more

I can't recommend Domingo's Tree Service enough. I got several quotes for tree trimming and theirs was the best. The job was not the easiest (some of it involved cutting down a row of tall begonias overlooking a pool). The crew came out and did an amazing job with the begonias and the other trees (fruit trees to trim and at least 6 other trees, some with very thick branches). They were extremely helpful and professional. I also found them to be very courteous. They cleaned up extremely well and a few crew members even helped me collect some of the fruit off the trees so that it would not be thrown away. I have 11 Palm Trees in my backyard and normally trim them once a year. This year I gave it to Dmingos. After couple of months one of the palm trees started blooming (which should be bloom after a year), looked it was missing in trimming, and started to make the backyard and pool dirty by tiny flowers downfalls, means I paid, but not get the right services! Called his office, and then owner Mr. Domingos called me, and when I explained the problem, he started arguing and explaining; its not his fault and added, he has lot of money and don't need new business (talking in a very rude way). I tried to talk politely and convince him just to come over and look at it (in fact I was ready to pay to fix it), but he was talking like a jerk and used S word, I hang up and called office. Almost Same Same conversation! looks all of them are rugged, hang up again! My understanding is this guy, don't know the job, he is kind of live spam, looking for any tree trimming business by fooling people with lies about himself and how big is his experience! Once he get the job, gives it to second hand tree contractors and don't care if they do it right or wrong!
