The same time I had downsized/moved to a smaller home, both my parents passed away and i developed medical condition that had rendered me disabled. Eight years ago, the movers (not Second City) had unloaded and stacked boxes floor to ceiling in garage, lower level and crawlspace. i was so stressed every day over the 3 homes worth of boxes stacked and cluttered all throughout my home - i could not get into crawlspace, lower level was litterly reduced to small walkway from stairs to laundry room. I called and spoke with owners of Second City Hauling, explained my situation: my disability, the unbelievable amount - 3 family loads - of boxes (& not knowing what was in them), but needed to get them removed from our home asap. They were more than courteous and understanding on the phone, secured the best date for both of us for walk through (since I couldn't get into crawlspace to take pictures) & "clear out/clean up" date scheduled. Their courteous and professional demeanor was just as caring while not at all judgmental nor condescending during the entire clean-out job. They assured they would be able to get everything staged so I could go through boxes to see what needed to be kept, donated and lastly trashed. They came this morning with a plan for the best/most organized/most productive way to get everything staged for sorting and implementation so that we could all work as a team. They set a chair up for me (reminder, i am disabled) and we worked like an assembly group that had been doing this process for years WOW IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!!! They were able to answer questions (i wasn't sure if some things should be donated or trashed - i love how they donate as much as possible). They worked so efficiently, great pace (but not rushing nor rude in anyway), and incredibly strong. I was stressed every day, worried and unable to get help in our place to get things repaired/fixed because of the boxes of stuff were blocking everything. Tonight that stress and worry is gone thanks to Chris & Melissa (& my daughter). The 3 of them worked non-stop until all was completely done and to my amazement, was completed in one (1) day!!! I thought it would take days to weeks to get this done. The level of proficiency and hustle of these two (plus my daughter) was nothing short of amazing. Our home is a home now and not a stress inducing, unable to move around, unable to get things fixed, living in fear storage unit. My daughter and I are forever grateful to Chris & Melissa for their care, dedication, hard and incredible work. I cried happy tears at least 6 times over this process (that they could do it and then assuring me they would come in with their equipment, a plan to make this process easiest and quick as possible and we would finally have our home be a home and not a storage unit that we could not enjoy, stop living in fear, unable to get to our possessions that we wanted (treasured pictures, christmas decorations, etc.). Walked thru instructions on how to get to loading dock of highrise and check in. Guy says great, you are set. All good so far. Early morning Tuesday they call when I'm in shower and leave message saying will be there in 90 minutes (which would be 30 minutes after the scheduled appointment time). Also said unless I call back, they aren't coming at all. So I call back. Guy starts off by yelling. Says he called me but I didn't answer. I remind him appt was already set and confirmed. Then he goes off and says how does he know if I'll really be there and that now he will start sending guys to come in about 90 minutes. I say I'd like you to please honor the appointment time. He says ok will send guys. He then says will call me from outside. I remind him we had already walked through need to check in at dock. He then blows up more and says I don't need this, go hire someone else and hangs up. Wow, what great service. Do yourself a favor and avoid losing 24 hours thinking they will honor a confirmed appointment. Just start off by going with someone else.
