A very cool Dolphin Tour. That said, DO NOT make your decision to come on this cruise because of the "Glass Bottom Boat" aspect. You will likely be disappointed. It's difficult to see anything past a few inches under water. DO however decide because the boats are nice and roomy and the captain and crew are friendly and knowledgeable. I have no regret about picking this particular tour, and we did see several dolphins, I just don't want others deciding based on the idea that there is some awesome undersea world that you can look at if you pick the Dolphins Down Under. read more

Great tour! Captain Drew and his crew were hospitable and fun! Great little outing for the kiddos to see dolphins up close!

Great trip! Everyone was super nice. Drew (captain) and Tanner (deckhand) were great. Joked around with everyone and were very knowledgeable. Well worth it! read more

Great tour and staff. We saw lots of dolphins on the 2pm tour. The water in orange beach is beautiful!

We had such a wonderful time on this Dolphin Cruise!!. The captain Charlie was very knowledgeable, entertaining, and engaging with the crowd. Tanner the deckhand was personable and energetic on the cruise. I would like to also mention how incredibly helpful Tanner was on the phone when I called to secure the reservation. He went above and beyond and gave me EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! read more

This was the second time we have done this tour, the crew was great both times. Would highly recommend.

We had the worst time on this trip, we were treated very poorly by a few of the other group of passengers and the staff seem to encourage it. Those that were laughing and making comments to us were allowed to stay on the boat after the trip was ended laughing at my spouse, my son and myself as we excited, It started by us sitting in seats that was apparently theirs, once we realized, we moved. But they made comments and made the trip very uncomfortable. The bartender seem to be encouraging them, maybe because they were buying drinks and tipping. The group stayed on the boat after every one was off. I would recommend going with any other charter, these people are very unprofessional and seem to care more about selling drinks than caring for their family friendly passengers. read more

We took the "island" excursion tour.. the description on the website is completely false! This is how the description reads on the website... Welcome aboard! Enjoy a wonderful island excursion with music, fun, beach time and let our experienced guides lead you and your family on a 2-hour adventure. An excursion to one of our local islands, where you'll be set free to snorkel, swim and relax or just enjoy the water and secluded island beach. We'll have music, snorkel gear and floats provided for your enjoyment. Live like the locals do for a little while and enjoy the "Island Life". Rum Punch for adults provided! We boarded the boat and it literally drove about 10 minutes to a sandy area across from the Marina.. that is where we docked for about an 1 1/2 hours. NOT private.. they were struggling to find a parking spot for the boat since it was so crowded. So we basically sat in the water for 1/12 hours w/some noodles and a raft that they provided... snorkling was NOT included and was an extra $15 - that was not told to us until after i booked the reservation - AND rum punch is NOT included.. its available for $8.00 per cup. And to be honest, there were so many boats around, i doubt you would be able to see anything anyway! Not worth the money at all.. so disappointed. read more

Captain Drew and Hannon are amazing and very personable! Our tour experience was great with plenty of dolphin views, local island facts, and great jokes to keep the boat laughing!! I would recommend this dolphin cruise for any tourist with children and/or big families, you will be pleased. Always listen to Captain Drew & Hannon's restaurant recommendations 10/10 overall! read more

The crew was great. We went during March so it was a bit chilly and probably not the best time to see dolphins but the crew did an excellent job trying to get us some great views. read more

Really enjoyed this excursion and the crew was great! We definitely saw dolphins and had a great boat ride. Full disclosure..."glass bottom" is really four panes that didn't get used. read more

This was unanimously the favorite part of our trip. The Captains were engaging and informative. We were impressed with their professionalism and how the Captains all worked together to ensure we saw dolphins. The price at $20 per person with the coupon was the most reasonable and fairly priced purchase of our whole trip. Their specialty drink, the Pink Dolphin, is a must try. If we ever go back to Orange Beach, this excursion will be at the top of our list to do again. Booking was easy, the young man that checked us in was so nice and helpful, the boat was clean and well kept, the Captains were fantastic, Five Stars all around!!! read more

This was a great dolphin cruise! Captain Robert totally made the trip. We were having a difficult time finding some dolphins but he drove us around several places until we saw them. He had great stories and was fantastic with the kids as well. He was gave suggestions on places to eat and other things to do in town. We actually ran into him at a restaurant he suggested and he took pictures with the kids. Just a great staff here. As mentioned, the glass bottom is not a benefit for dolphin cruises but if you want to see dolphins and go out with people that love their jobs, this is the group. read more

It was a nice boat ride but that's about it. There was nothing to see down under and the Dolphins we did see were minimal. It was a disappointment. We brought our kids with us and it wasn't really family friendly as they seemed pretty concerned with selling drinks and not seeing Dolphins. They also only took us on the intercostal and not into the ocean. read more

Glass Bottom?? It was more of a boat ride than a dolphin cruise. The glass bottoms would have been cooler if maybe a different place that has clearer water but pretty much the whole time it was green and you couldn't see anything at all. Don't choose this ride just because of the "glass bottom" feature as it is pretty much pointless. We also spent an hour out of the hour and a half sitting in one spot in the middle of the inter coastal part of the gulf following a mother and a baby dolphin that barely even showed themselves that much. Would have liked to maybe go to another spot instead of sitting in a spot for an hour doing nothing. Honestly one of the most boring and annoying excursions I have ever been on. I have been on other dolphin cruises where they would follow us and jump out of the water and tried to play with us. That was a much more enjoyable ride. read more

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! I was in town from California with 3 other Alabama/Georgia girlfriends. I wanted to treat us to a early am boat ride. I yelped various places. And I have to say several companies got back to me. But Lena called me and said let me know what your looking for and let me see if we can do it. We called and texted and she said let me ask the boss. It wasn't 5 minutes and she said we can come in early and take you ladies out on the boat! Let me tell you these guys took the 6 of us out and we had the whole boat and just their attention. We saw more dolphins than you can imagine! It was peaceful and serene. Memorable moments! Please give them a call and go on one of their cruises. I read more

What a great cruise! The captain and deckhand were extremely nice and we saw lots of dolphins. It took us a little bit to find them, but we saw lots of the local sites and the captain was very informative and funny. They have a snack bar and an alcoholic bar with beer. I got their specialty drink called a "pink dolphin" drink made with rum and it was so yummy! We will definitely be back. read more

Marlin was an amazing captain!!! The dolphins are a must see!!! Fun for all!!! Thanks for the memories! read more

It's really hard to only give three stars given they delivered the promised experience. I saw dolphins briefly surface many times. That's all you get. They also took us out to the gulf in front of the condo we rented where we say parasailing and ospreys fishing. The service was fine. No complaints. However, as an experience, I would skip this in the future. read more

The roughly hour and a half tour did allow us to see some wild dolphins, mainly just as their fins protruded the water when they'd come to the surface from a distance. Anyone expecting a marine show style exhibit (or even thinking they can see the dolphins swimming underwater) will be disappointed. The glass bottom sections of the boat were caked with algae and too small to provide any worthwhile view of the water bed, particularly at the speeds the boat was traveling. The boat was rather crowded, but still left everyone enough room to walk around to the better viewing spots as they developed. These tended to be at the rear since the dolphins were attracted to the wake of the boat. Children 8-years-old and under are made to wear a vest. A small bathroom is available on the boat for those curious. The captain encouraged everything to bang the sides of the boat to attract the dolphins, so expect to hear lots of clanging for the duration of the trip. We chose this tour over others solely due to receiving a coupon upon arrival on our vacation. The woman checking us in completely disregarded the presented coupon and charged us full price anyway ($20 per adult). Given the lackluster experience, it's difficult to recommend this tour over others. Since they all tour in the same dolphin waters, bargain conscience people will probably find the same experience and sights at the lesser priced dolphin tours (one advertised $12 on its boat). Just go to the marina and get the best deal available to you at the time you want to go. read more

Horrible dolphin tour. went out for 2 hours only to see 2 dolphins off in the distance. Definitely not worth the money or time. Other dolphin tours have dolphins jumping behind the boats. read more

The people are great and get everyone involved. We saw so many dolphins. That was great. We paid $20 using coupon for glass bottom boat. Save your money. There is nothing to see in the glass bottom. It's a gimmick. Nothing was even mentioned on the cruise to look for in glass bottom. You can find cheaper rates for dolphin cruises. read more

Great adventure! The boat ran on time and the Captain took us to several places to find the dolphins. We were able to see several different families of dolphins during the trip. The only down side I found is they advertise their business as "glass bottom boat" but it appeared only a small panel was see through. But overall good experience! read more

Definitely not what I had expected but still a beautiful view for a sunset cruise! Got some great pics and saw a few dolphins! I can't remember the name of the men that was our crew but one of them made an awesome drink called "the pink dolphin" it was superb! I'd take the tour again just for the drink. Lol. read more

This was the only excursion that we had plan during our trip. 3 days before we get a text that our reservation has been canceled because there wasn't enough room. Why did I get to book then?! They said they had an employee quit. How about this. Add another trip and just delay the time rather than cancel completely leaving your customers with nothing to do!!! My husband told me to let him know how it was in case his company wanted to use them when they brought their reps on a reward trip. There goes that business for you guys!!!! I'm appalled that the girl was just "oh well". I guess because it's not her only chance to go that was just taken away because of poor scheduling and poor customer service. read more

We booked the 2 hour snorkel tour. When we arrived they explained to us that due to weather and wind the depth that we would be able to see would be limited to 5 ft. They let us decide if we wanted to still continue with the tour and when we chose not to; they refunded our money. Wow. These guys are honest and we appreciate their customer service. Unfortunately we didn't have time to try another day but we will definitely use them next time we are back in Florida! read more

Lots of dolphins, great personalities of the crew, beautiful sunset and a rainbow!! Thanks Captain Schmidt!!!

What a wonderful experience! It was very reasonably priced, and the crew was great. I read reviews saying they pushed alcohol relentlessly. We were told the bar was open as we sailed off, and it was never mentioned again. I would absolutely recommend this for both adult groups and families. You will see dolphins and have a really nice boat ride to boot. read more

Dolphins Down Under - A family of three, momma, a youngster and a baby. - Boat Charters Near Me - Orange Beach, Alabama

This is as good as it gets. You have to be realistic when looking to observe wild animals, but the staff was well-prepared and the trip was well worth it. I do advise bringing sunscreen and maybe a round hat, because being out on the water it does get hot. Again, the staff was phenomenal and I would recommend this to anyone looking to get a great boat ride with a friendly staff, with also a very high probability (I would say 95% chance- I've been several times) of seeing some great dolphin action. All of this coming from someone who has lived by the water for 25+ years, enjoy it. read more

We took this tour 5/29/2011. This was our second experience on a dolphin cruise, so we have something to compare it to. Had this been our first excursion, perhaps the stars would be more because we would not have known any better. For starters, it was more expensive than the other cruise companies we checked. It was $120 for 3 adults, 1 teenager & 2 kids. I feel the brochure we picked up @ our hotel is extremely misleading. It is an attractive brochure stating glass bottom boats. I have been on a glass bottom boat before, in Silver Springs, FL, so I thought it would be the same, since that's what it was called. Well, not in the least bit. You have 4 little areas about 5' by 3' that have a wall around them that you lean over to look down & see a strip of glass. We looked several times into those areas & saw nothing but green and a few bubbles once. We couldn't even see fish through them. We did see dolphins after a search of about 45 mins. You had to be really paying attention to catch a glimpse because they only came up a second. I didn't really get any good pictures, nor did the 2 other ladies around trying to get some. Yet, it was still exciting to see them. The captain was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the surroundings, giving us quite a bit of trivia about the boats, houses and dolphins. It was crowded, not enough room for everyone to have a seat when departing/arriving the marina, we had to put kids in laps. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!!!! My response to no response to email after 5 days: Do you seriously not have any response to this review, wasn't going to post online but here I go, buyer beware!! APPARENTLY A COMPANY THAT DIES NOT REALLY VALUE CUSTOMER FEEDBACK. My email send 6-23-18: Just a couple of things I would like to vocalize: At 4:14 pm on the day of our cruise; 530 arrival time, I was sent notice that location had changed. We were in transit at that time and of course went to wrong location. I had also receiveda text that day with no mention of change in location. Luckily we made the correct destination on time but to say the least felt this was extremely negligent on your part to not give notice of change of location earlier in the day. Next, feel you way overbook your tours, not everyone was able to be seated and 2 in my party have extreme back problems and the extended standing was very uncomfortable, I just feel you have misrepresented your tour. I of course still left a tip as the crew was nice and figured this was out of their control! The feature that drew me to your company was the glass bottom boat.....not Plexiglass! Needless to go on further but would have rather spent more time actually trying to see dolphins instead of a boat ride which I can do at home! The boxes, not glass bottom boat, were hard to view and were really in the way of attempting to get to the rail which really didn't get to do due to overcrowding. I feel people should get a partial refund, but mainly hope this can help experience for others taking your cruise in the future. I hate to be so negative but also know if this is never verbalized, no chance for you to make changes. read more

We didn't see any dolphins, until like the very end. And then we saw one. Right before that, of course, they said "This is the first time i've ever been out and didn't see a dolphin." Kinda what I'd expect to hear. And it may be true, maybe I just have bad luck. Not really their fault, they tried. Main complaint: It's HOT on the dock waiting to board the boat. There were a couple of misters going at one point, but they were weak. Why not get a fan or two out there? A couple of stand-fans would have done wonders. It's not rocket science. I was dripping with sweat. Also, as someone else said, the "glass bottom" aspect isn't really that impressive. There are like 4 spots (maybe 3' x 5' each?) in the boat where you can look over a small wall and see the water through the bottom. And of course, we didn't see anything (until the very end), so they served no purpose for us. The people were nice enough, but I wouldn't do it again or recommend it. read more

We ended up with Dolphins Down Under (Glass Bottom tour) after Caribe Cruisers cancelled our reservations due to cold weather. They say everything happens for a reason. Our tour with DDU was incredible! We are already looking forward to our next cruise with them. We saw tons of dolphins, the boat ride was smooth and the captains very friendly. If you want the best of the best, don't waste your time looking for other tours, Dolphins Down Under is the only way to go! Thanks to them my family had a great time! read more

Had a great time! We did get to see a lot of dolphins and the crew was excellent. They serve beer and a few mixed drinks on the boat at what I would consider reasonable prices. The boat was really nice and our kids had a great time. Highly recommended! read more

Pretty cool way to spend a few hours trying to find dolphins, only $20 if you use the coupon found in magazines. Crew did a good job of finding the dolphins and keeping us entertained. Beverage and snacks served on board at reasonable prices. Glass bottom views are not really used do to murkiness of the water and no real chance of them swimming underneath. read more

Captain could not find dolphins. People in the back of the boat could not hear anything he was saying. Boring for the children. Weather was not good but he brought us out anyway. Not a good experience read more

The crew was very friendly and informative. The pink dolphin drinks with a souvenir are a must! Sooo yummy and a keepsake for later. Just wish they had a bigger "glass bottom" to the boat. And as they say you're guaranteed to see Dolphins! Great time and a must do while in Orange beach. read more
