The pub is made up of a few nooks and crannies and other nautical themed areas all comfortably furnished. They sell two real ales plus a really decent selection of whisky. Prices for booze are reasonable too and it's open late on Fridays and Saturdays, something we made the most of! Dogs are welcome too. Food is also served but had finished when we arrived. Rooms are £65 for two including a hearty Scottish Breakfast. They are really spacious rooms and have excellent soundproofing which is important when the A1 is less than ten metres away. They're modern and clean inside and there's no additional charge for your four-legged friend to stay too, which is welcome. If I'm in the area again I'm sure to pop back round for the friendly welcome.

Mains of a large, well cooked Gammon steak, with home made coleslaw as part of the salad too much for my wife to manage, and a well packed and very tender Steak and ale pie for me with a nice selection of delicious vegetables and a healthy (or perhaps unhealthy) bowl of home made chips. A couple of drinks brought the bill to a very reasonable £30, which I regard as money well spent.

Lindisfarne Hotel
Loads of fun; "Don't touch that plate, I told you yesterday it's hot."…read moreWe had a smashingly good welcome here and were well cared for by Sean and family. On arrival we were given tea or coffee while we filled in our registration and a bucket and brush to clean our hiking boots (which remain strictly in the foyer, not the hotel.) Acerbic wit with a smile was the standard and it suited us to the ground. Sean's well practiced spiels are a comedy routine in themselves so pay attention and don't miss a word. He was very helpful on tide and bus and taxi information. Our room was nicely proportioned and the bathroom spacious. I visited in another room upstairs which was equally nice. Furniture is simple, stout, workable and unpretentious. All rooms have only showers. Our towels were rough but this is probably local hard water, They were new and thick and clean. Breakfast was excellent and if you are not awake on reaching the breakfast room, I assure you that you soon will be. There is lovely art around and some of it is for sale by Sean's son. Tea service in the rooms was generously stocked with a wee biscuit or two. Check the website to see other options like renting the entire place or having a wheelchair accessible room. Fabulous choice for staying on Lindisfarne. I would most certainly return here.

Going there was the icing on cake, we will be going back next year, can't wait. Recommended Jack B. And yes we returned in September 2015, and were back again in September 2016.

Collingwood Arms Hotel

I tried on Friday morning but they weren't very hopeful that they would be able to manage our group. However, as I was the first to arrive I had a word with the lovely manageress who was on duty, and she very quickly arranged a slot for us at 7pm. As it turned out, only 6 of the group decided to come to the hotel for food, so we weren't as cramped as we'd thought. The standard of food was excellent, I was particularly impressed with my starter of scallops, which were beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. For mains, I decided on a whim to try the veggie curry, which was tasty although I found it a teensy bit on the dry side. But full marks to the Collingwood for accommodating us all on a busy Friday evening.
This is the type of place I would want to own if I went into the hotel business! Bought a deal for…read moremy boyfriend for Christmas which was an overnight stay, two course dinner, breakfast and Molton Brown gift bag for what seemed like a great deal at £89. They showed that they care right from the booking of the stay where I called and got a lovely chap who couldn't be more welcoming! I then had to call back and ask if it could be rescheduled about three weeks later and this was no problem for them - great! Sometimes if you have a voucher places act like they couldn't care less. So it is just over the border into England and in a tiny wee village and looks lovely as you approach. We were greeted by a lovely receptionist and shown to a very nice room after she made us a dinner reservation in the restaurant. The Molton brown gift was amazing - a proper box of normal sized goodies. The bar was nice and cosy and the wine prices were really great for a hotel with the price of bottles ranging from £13 to £20 so we settled down with a bottle of Chenin blanc and let the afternoon pass! We got ready for dinner and went downstairs to the bar - which was heaving surprisingly! So the lovely waitress took us through to the library and took our order while we sat in front of a toasty real fire. The pink mojito was I am afraid to say really disappointing - there was no crushed ice in it as is usual but a few sad melted cubes who were not doing their job. However dinner time was here and the menu looked really great. We were told by the waiter that it was only lamb which carried a supplement and all other dishes were included in our deal - fantastic value so we couldn't resist the starter of scallops, black pudding and pea purée. It was awesome! Three huge juicy perfectly cooked scallops with spicy soft black pudding and fresh crushed peas. What's not to like?! For mains we went for steak, I had the ribeye cooked to medium perfection with crisp onion rings, chips and peppercorn sauce. Boyfriend had the amazing fillet beef which was delish although slightly over done for his liking with truffle mash. They were both great. We were stuffed but couldn't resist pudding and put away a fabulous creamy baileys and Malteser cheesecake that was exactly what was needed to finish off a pretty perfect dinner. We had a comfortable nights stay and a great brekkie the next morning - full English cooked to your order. Only thing was the bacon was too crispy for my liking - but that's just my preference so that's ok. I would highly recommend a stay here or a visit for dinner if you for any reason happened to be nearby! The staff were super lovely, the hotel comfortable and welcoming and the food delish.
