I've visited a few times. The rustic log cabin ambience makes for a cozy setting. There are stuffed…read moreanimals on the walls that make one feel they are in the wilderness. Service and food is usually good but can be inconsistent. I've had a few things including Perogies, steak dinner and fish. I've had different soups, all very good. The daily promo is usually very good value and if you order, the soup is usually discounted. They have a seniors menu with smaller portions that is good value. Although it's good food, portioning is also inconsistent. I had a great steak that came with potato and vegetables that was all very filling. I've had perogies but there were only 2. I thought 4-6 would be more appropriate. That meal was not good value and I won't order it again. They have all day breakfast with lots of offerings. Overall it's a very good restaurant that is inside the Co-op Truck Stop on the west end of Winkler.

This is the first time I have ever written a review. My wife and I both ordered the Senior…read morehamburger steak platter. It was so awful! The hamburger was not freshly cooked and it tasted like it had been sitting cold then warmed up. Tough as nails! The gravy was for sure not home made but made from a powder mix. Dreadful! The mashed potatoes were a powdered mix as well. Un-edible! The vegetables were of the frozen type from a bag and cooked to rat s__t. Yuck! I will never step into this restaurant again!!!

I know Winnipeg has a lot of great places to get a hamburger so I asked for a recommendation from…read moremy aunt who I was visiting. She recommended the Dreamland Diner. So driving back from the Banjo Bowl, I decided to try it out. It was somewhat busy but I was immediately sat in a booth and left with the menu. My eyes are usually bigger than my stomach and I have a habit of ordering more than I can eat. So to play it safe I ordered their smallest burger, the Junior which is basically a double cheeseburger , onion rings, and a milkshake. They had quite an extensive milkshake menu with various flavours and toppings. This was the most difficult decision I had to make so I went with a bubblegum milkshake with marshmallow topping. May sound off putting to some but it was very good. I didn't have to wait long at all for everything to arrive and tucked right in. The onion rings, more Dairy Queen style opposed to A&W, were a bit over done and lukewarm as though they had been sitting for a while. I only ate a few. The burger itself was good. I'm a big fan of using Kraft single cheese slices for burgers as they melt much better than most "gourmet" or exotic cheeses some places use. The patty was a little dry and could have used some seasoning but they mixed diced onions into the meat which added some texture to it. To my surprise I actually finished the whole burger. Surprised not because it wasn't good, it was, but because, like I stated earlier, I'm not a big eater but I left the onion rings behind. Overall it was a good experience. Service was fine. I probably wouldn't go back by myself but if I was with people and they suggested it I wouldn't say no.

Apart from the Tim's up the road it is THE happening reastaurant! It is that typical Prairie Town restaurant one remembers from the 60's and 70's! Prices in Canada are expensive for food at restaurants, because food in Canada is expensive. At Mum's you don't get five star Michelin style dining, you get good solid Canadian Kitchen with the Formica shiny topped counter (grey marbleized with shines aluminum rim!) Mum's (Prairie Mum, my Mum's) kitchen. Your not ripped off for price you just get to pay what all Canadians pay when they go out for breakfast, and the Klatch that fills the seats day after day at Mum's attest to the fact that the food, the atmosphere and the dining are where it's at! It ain't cute food; it's just honest blue collar stick to your ribs food. And that is Mum's. Hope you find a place to sit when you go again!

I was served fairly quickly and the food arrived in a reasonable time frame. I ordered a breakfast special which was a good price and tasted good (probably the most important factor). Some final points, the restaurant accepts debt cards, it is not overly big and has a small parking lot. The staff was friendly and efficient. I will be coming back to the restaurant in the future.
