I followed their shop for the past few years but was convinced by a family member to try a cheaper artist... and I'll just say when it comes to any beauty related procedure, quality over quantity (cost of service) is everything. Besides microblading, their services also include lipliner and lip tattoos! I submitted an inquiry for a brow correction and received a response within a day. I sent over photos of my current brows (some microblading artists are selective when it comes to corrections/fixing other artists' work) and thankfully, Emily Joy agreed to fix them for me! I put down a 50% deposit and booked an appointment (bookings are only guaranteed with a deposit!). The remaining balance is also charged on the day of the appointment. Medical history is requested along and pre and post-care instructions are provided during booking. They are also sent during the appointment confirmation (about 2-3 days before your appointment) and are also available on their website. Emily Joy had wonderful bedside manner and had a warm, genuine personality and I felt comfortable with her right away! The process of measuring and drawing out my brows took longer in addition to waiting for the topical anesthetic took longer than the actual microblading itself. It's pretty painless for the most part, but once the anesthesia starts to wear off, it feels more like a scratch, if anything at all. She provided a cute post-care tote with Aquaphor, a card with directions on how to take care of your brows, as well as swabs to apply the Aquaphor. I was able to book my touch-up right after we finished our initial session. The studio itself is clean and has the cutest, posh decor. It's shared in an office building with several other businesses and has ample parking. I've constantly received compliments on my brows and every morning, I look at myself in the mirror and think to myself, "I WOKE UP LIKE DIS!" I had been wanting to get my eyebrows microbladed for several years but was too afraid to make the leap. My best friend went to Dollistic and had hers done by Holly (they look great) and that was the tipping point for me. The 90s were not kind to my brows and they were a victim to the overplucking that was common back then. So as a result I had relatively thin brows that had to be filled in regularly with makeup. I was always self conscious about them and wouldn't leave the house without my brows being drawn in. Natasha was my angel who saved me from my sad, thin brows. From the start she was excellent at communicating timing and expectations to me for the before care and the appointment. The studio is beautiful and very clean and inviting. It's been exactly one week since I had my first Microblading procedure ever in life completed. My service was provided by Christina and she was the absolute best! I actually felt blessed and as if the stars had aligned perfectly to match me with her level of care and professionalism. It didn't hurt that she's an absolute sweetheart and has the kindest demeanor. ;-) To begin, the booking process was seamless! I went online and secured an appointment within two weeks by paying a 50% deposit. My appointment was confirmed and I received pre-care instructions via email well in advance. I also received an appointment reminder via email and a telephone call approximately 48 hours prior to my appointment. The email included parking options which were very helpful upon arrival since I'm unfamiliar with the area. When I arrived, Christina was prompt and timely with greeting me and beginning my appointment. I truly appreciated this and recognized it because service providers are often oblivious to appointment times and seem to disregard the etiquette of timeliness. Prior to even touching my brows, Christina took her time explaining the entire process from start to finish as well as what to expect during the healing process. Christina patiently drafted up personalized brows based upon my facial structure and welcomed my desired outcome and input. It was a pleasant collaboration because she continuously inquired about my likes, dislikes, and possible areas of modification prior to finalizing her design. She also discussed the need for the perfect ink color combo based upon cultural heritage, background, and undertones; which was another indication of her attention to detail. Once the process began, Christina was very intuitive, observant, conscientious of my nervousness, and patient with my pain sensitivity. She voluntarily gave me intermittent breaks and was very kind about it. Although Christina was open to my thoughts, she ultimately used her obvious expertise to create the perfect eyebrows for my face! Christina is an amazing find! One week later, the healing process has proceeded exactly as she explained and for that I appreciate her transparency and thoroughness. So I've struggled to write this review because in the beginning I had a really great experience with Dollistic. Fast forward four years and I have had a horrible one. When I first started my journey in 2016 my eyebrows looked amazing. You could see the hair strokes, the color looked great, and they looked super natural. Fast forward four years and now they look like big dark brown blobs on my face. A year after I started my eyebrows they started to turn pink. So I got them redone in in September of 2017. Shortly after I got pregnant and they turned pink again. I had to wait until after I was finished with everything in regards to my pregnancy and birth to get them touched up which ended up being two years. When I went back in the fall of 2019 for a touch up, my brows were super pink but fading. So they decided to redo them and did some super heavy shading with a super dark color to cover them. They looked horrible. I went back a few moth later and they redid the heavy shading but with a lighter color. They looked good for a little bit but the darker color is starting to show back up. When I talked to EmilyJoy she tried to blame it on my facials... ummm my facials had nothing to do with the fact that you all used super heavy shading and a super dark color to cover the pink. Then she tried to work with me to come up with a remedy which ended up being laser removal. She recommended it like it's not an expensive and painful removal option. So now due to COVID, I'm stuck with these ugly dark blob brows. I'm really angry because not only did Dollistic messed up my brows, the ruined my face and they way I look. And even if I do choose to get laser to remove them (it's literally my only option) there is no guarantee that laser will remove all of the ink and from my research, laser can also permanently remove the little bit of eyebrow hair that I have. Overall, it's just a horrible situation to be in and there is nothing I can do about it.....nothing! I can't even cover them up with makeup. read more

I am updating this review after booking again this time with the master herself, Emily. After the original and follow-up (around 7/8 weeks), my brows finally started to look like they should have been from the beginning. Emily explained everything to be expected in terms of healing and aftercare. It is now week 7 since my follow up, and she is happy with the way they have turned out. She is awesome of course. I am keeping the review at 4 stars only because I had to pay over $1200 to get where I am. Other than that, you will not be dissatisfied if you book with one of the masters. Due to budgetary limitations I risked it and went ahead with a trainee. I am keeping an open mind. Emily said that after the touchups things will start looking exactly like I want them to. I had my brows done 1.5 years ago. They were nice the first few months. But now, my kids would often say "mom, why are your eyebrows red?!" The ink that was used turned red after 10 months (even more noticeable in the sun) and I need to draw over them just to cover the red tattoo underneath. HATE IT!!! I was nervous because the treatment is semi-permanent and it's your FACE, so if they mess up, your face is screwed. I was immediately put at ease because the place is very nice, clean and chic. I went to Dollistic because the Washingtonian magazine wrote them up. I was willing to pay more because I'm very fair skinned with white hair and it was crucial that my eyebrows not be too big or too dark. I picked out exactly what I wanted. The first appointment went well and after a couple of weeks my eyebrows looked good. As they directed me, I scheduled a second appointment just to "fill in". I left there with pitch-black enormous eyebrows that were very obviously uneven. I was really dismayed. I waited two, very long months with no significant change. They refunded my money and they paid for three super-painful tattoo removal appointments. It's hard to convey how painful the laser treatments were but I had no choice. My eyebrows looked terrible. It took me a long time to get the courage to get my brows permanently "done", and I'm so happy that I took the plunge with Dollistic-DC Dollhouse! These ladies are true artists. Although I had brows when I walked in, they were very thin and I think aged my face. Emily being a senior and one of the Partners helped in the beginning and came by to give a second look and fresh eyes which was great and Lizzeth (another senior and partner) popped by during my first consultation as well with input. It was nice that they worked as a team to insure that the client was getting the best service! Christina was my main artist and did most of my initial appointment and all of my touch up 6 weeks later. She was very both professional and meticulous with the details. She measured my face and re-measured my face which I appreciated. We spoke about what I wanted and what would look good with the symmetry of my face and went from there. The Eyebrow God is here ladies! When I first started looking into this and doing my research I never thought we would have someone here in D.C. doing this. However, bam, then I found Emily on Instagram. I was worried at first because this is a serious procedure but, when I finally met Emily, she was super nice and really knew what she was talking about and what she is doing.
