I had a very disappointing experience at this Family Dollar location (6438 Sackett Street,…read morePhiladelphia, PA). My minor son made a small purchase using a $10 bill and was given back eight dollars and 21 pennies -- shortchanging him by 75 cents. When I returned to the store minutes later to resolve the issue, the cashier (who claimed to be the manager) admitted he had no coins and said it was "my fault" for not sending my child with exact change. Rather than apologizing or offering a fair solution -- like rounding the change or returning the full $10 -- I was left to argue over 75 cents. I returned the item and only received $1.25 back, meaning the store still kept some of our money. This is completely unacceptable, especially from a large corporation that should be equipped to handle basic cash transactions. The service was slow (one cashier, long lines), the attitude was dismissive, and the resolution was unfair. Marginalized communities deserve better treatment and respect -- not to be nickel-and-dimed and blamed for the store's lack of proper resources. Very disappointing.

I was like ok let me check my account that's weird and right in front of her I open the app of my bank account and yet $3.24 was right there posting as a pending item meaning the transaction did went through I asked her for a receipt where it said decline or duplicated or whatever so I can show my bank in case the $3.24 charge doesn't drop from my account. She started yelling at me and told me to "get the fuck out of the store" that she refuse now to sell me anything and that I was probably just bored of being at home and I was seeing things on my account that's are not there (literally calling me crazy) while I was showing her my bank account. Are you kidding me? I told her that was wrong. I was only asking for a receipt of something since I did swipe my card and my bank account clearly shows that a transaction from today 5/11/20 for $3.24 was in fact debited. I did not deserve to be yelled at or refuse service I hope management do something about it

Things like cereal, water, nutrition drinks and snacks I could eat rather than what is available at my hotel, which we all know are ridiculous in price. Another item I needed was toothpaste which is an item I purchase on a regular basis from Dollar Tree. Needless to say, I was grateful that this location was a little over 1/2 of a mile away from my hotel in South Philadelphia. With it being near closing time, the atmosphere felt lifeless at this location. And I must point out that I was very disgusted at the appearance of the aisles and shelves because items appeared ransacked, and some items were on the floor. I have never seen a Dollar Tree look like this and I have been to many. I had an issue of my ankle being in slight pain, so an item that ended up on my radar to purchase was an ankle compression supporter to ease the pain on my ankle while running Independence Broad Street Run. I find myself amazed at what I can find at Dollar Tree and an ankle compression supporter is one of those things. And its quality is just as good as one sold at a much higher shopping chain. To go along with compressing my ankle pain, I found and purchased a Cold & Hot - Extra Strength Medicated Patch which I looked more as for easing post run pain. Purchasing the Extra Strength Medicated Patch was beneficial because not only was I able to place a patch on my ankle, but one on my sprained neck as well which I felt oddly into Independence Broad Street Run. Mixed in with the ransacked items on-shelf, I was fortunate enough to find a small travel sized tube of Crest gum detoxify deep clean toothpaste, which was not my ideal choice, but it was acceptable. Now I have been buying large bottles of water from Dollar Tree for some time now. Because it has my preferred brands in stock like Alkaline, Aquafina, Dasani, Eternal, LifeWTR, and even Alka 65 which keep me purchasing consistently. I felt as though this location did not have many choices available, but I did find a satisfying purified water brand shelved. There were plentiful cereal options stocked, but to go along with the many options of cereal, there was no shelf stable milk available. Its lifespan, price, and carton size works for me in comparison to buying milk out of supermarket stores. With there being no shelf stable milk available, I ended up settling for Modern Pantry Almond plant-based beverage which I felt at the time was the next best thing to shelf stable milk. And it came in a similar container as shelf stable milk and its taste. Wow! Fruit & Grain Bars are an item that I continuously purchase from Dollar Tree because they work perfectly as a snack, with 140 calories per serving in each bar. Since I could not find the things I needed for cereal, I purchased a box as something I could eat to satisfy those hunger moments during my weekend. And there were plentiful options to choose from that were shelved at this location. In spite of being a regular Dollar Tree customer, I have never once encountered Bubly burst sparkling water beverages, so I admired the flavors prior to hopping in line. And in the process, I ended up grabbing flavors triple berry, and watermelon lime. Whether it be for the purchase of cereal, water, toothpaste, nutrition drinks or even snack foods, Dollar Tree continues to be a place where I spend on a regular basis.
