I have been shopping at the Dollar Tree on 28th and Kennedy Blvd. for a month or so and among other employees I have met Julia, who is non-stop running around the store tending to everything that needs to get done. I had asked her questions on several occasions and she is ever so helpful to assist. She stops what she is doing to help and is always smiling. She definately is the ultimate person for customer service and relations. A very unique employee with a great attitude. A great experience. Please keep an eye out. The placement of this store is truly convenient. It's walking distance from most neighborhoods. With that said, once I went in, I realize that there's no clear management of the merchandise, the staff nor the clientele. There are no COVID protocols in place. Also, I overheard a staff member talking about how he closed the store last night and was scheduled to open today. This employee looked exhausted, which explains most of their short temperament with customers. They're TIRED! 2 of their employees had masks that were only covering their mouths, not their noses. Another employee was screaming at someone from staff because they needed to leave and no one had checked their bag, only to get a "I don't have time for that. Just go." answer. I understand how frustrating working through this pandemic is, but if the employees are not supported, everything will fall to pieces. Just because this is the Dollar Tree, doesn't mean the store itself has to provide the bare minimum. read more

This place is just ratchet. From the customers to the employees. The place is packet yet understaffed during the busiest time of the day. Why is it there are only ever TWO registers open during peak hours? They seriously need an express lane. They're otherwise losing business. Many a time I've seen people dump their items in frustration and just leave out of frustration of waiting (why wait behind someone with a cartful of food when you're there to just buy 3 items?) I'm very disappointed at what has happened to this store. This store use to be a great to go spot to get anything from home decor to groceries. Now the store is just one big disorganized mess with nothing ever in stock. And be prepared to wait on one line for a very long time because there's always just one cashier. P.S. be careful if you choose to pick up bread from here because I ended up getting moldy bread. read more

Today was a reminder as to why I usually avoid this Dollar Tree location. It is extremely disorganized and they only have one cashier ringing customers up. They should have more registers open so that customers can be in and out of the store quicker and not have a long line reaching almost the back of the store at 11:15am, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. I rather travel to the Dollar Tree in Fairview or in East Rutherford where items are neatly stocked and more registers are available when checking out. read more

This store shouldn't be expected to be like a Walmart or shop rite. It has mostly goodies and some essentials. First of all, don't know why many of these reviews are saying bad stuff about produce. Ofc it's not good products it's there for days. Second of all, they have silly rules against the kids from the local high school ( as if those kids aren't their main consumers). And lastly, abide by your damn hours I was just there at 8:37 to get some simple floss and guess what? They're closed. I usually shop at Dollar Tree...but this store location is the worst. I have a disability and and a service dog. I also have a broken ankle and cannot bend much because if back issues as well...either way I should not have to explain to a dollar tree employee my whole entire medical record because you want me to pick up the dog and carry him through the whole store. This resulted in and employee discriminating against my rightz via ADA. He stated that the story policy stated that service dogs need to be carried. Service dogs are not supposed to be carried first of all...second of all the employee did not handle the situation well...and third of all the female cashier started threatening me. I reached out to corporate tonight and I am awaiting a call back from them. read more

I went in a few weeks ago looking for items I could use for a bridal shower. I didn't find what I was looking for but i found a few things I could use. What struck me most is the dirt and filth and utter disarray in the store. I have been to my fair share of discount stores but really this one was the pits. Service was ok, the cashiers were helpful and even had a sense of humor but you need to have one in order to function in such a depressing environment. Basically, whoever manages this store has no pride in what they do nor do they care about their customers having a good experience. Staff always closes before the supposed time. Be aware! Also, there is usually a long line since the pandemic cause they will only allow a few people inside and let you stay only for 15minutes and bother you if you wish to stay longer. read more

I've been shopping at this location since it opened practically as I've lived down the block my whole life. Today I went and the line to get in was down the block understandable because of COVID. I called and asked if I as a first responder would be allowed in and they told me no, everyone has to wait on line. I'm sure if a police officer or government official were to show up they would be let in. I'm disgusted as someone who serves this community for little to nothing that I wouldn't have the same privilege I recurved just across the street at shoprite. I just needed some paper plates ! Now I see why this place is always upside down and only has two stars, they lack customer service. I WILL NEVER SPEND ANOTHER DOLLAR HERE EVER IN MY LIFE. read more

If I could give less than a one star rating I would. I called ahead to get balloons and told them I would be there in an hour. I said I wanted 28 balloons for my brothers birthday and whoever picked up the phone said to come anytime to get them. I said I would be coming from manhattan and it would take me one hour. It took me one hour and 2 minutes. I get there and a bleach blonde guy tells me No EVER one called about balloons and they don't have any helium. I showed him my phone - what time and for how long I spoke on the phone and he said I never called and "you're lying" in front of 3 other employees and some customers. Pretty horrific treatment of your customers and to a stranger in general. Hated every minute of that interaction. Went one block down to the flowers place and bought 60 balloons and flowers. I love dollar they always have good stuff for only a buck. Every location is very different from how they resent their layout and how the employees treat the customers. This dollar tree is not my favorite because it always seems to be unorganized and messy also they definitely have a mouse problem some of Thier food is ripped up from mice and you can also see the dropping. From Kitchen cleaning stuff, snacks(cookies, bars, chocolates, frozen fruits, vegetables), stationary items, a lot of decoration materials to kitchen bowls and cutlery were there. I need to just say that I had the best customer service here and all provided by a young man who was the cashier on Wednesday October 4th. His name is Tai (pronounced Thai ) Yes it's true this place can be un organized but do you even realize where it's located ? Come on guys let's not act like we aren't aware how inconsiderate people from Union City are. I grew up in Hudson county and people are shameless ( sin vergüenza) . Anyway I had a terrible shopping experience the whole time I felt I was being watched or followed and at first I though it was an undercover security guard but no this was different everywhere I went this man followed me . I finally decided to test something; I pretended to check out and started placing my items on the belt, I then made believe I forgot to get deodorant and the man that I believed was following me around the store was behind me in line , I told the cashier , Tai... I'll be back please take care of the next customer and as I go to back up my cart the man following me removes him self from the line and goes back to shopping. And I stood my ground and went to Tai and told him I think he's following me , I don't really need deodorant I just said that to see if he would also try to leave and Tai truly made me feel better and safer . He told me to check out and he would walk me safely to my car and I can't explain to you how amazingly safe this young man made me feel. I will call tomorrow and speak to his manager because he did just what he said . As he started to ring me up that man came back again and stood behind me in line. Very close to me and staring. Tai realized and told the man to wait right there that he would be back because he just needs to help carry my bags to my car and the man froze and just said oh okay... he must have felt awkward like he wasn't expecting that but I'm glad that Tai ( I really hope I'm spelling his name right) was there and helped me . Truly this is the greatest customer service I've ever received. Thank you to the management here . And mostly thank you Tai I really can't explain how safe you made me feel and I'm grateful to be able to get home to my son especially for his birthday. Thank you to the staff! Thank you again Tai. This store is infested with rodents, I bent down to get something out of a box on the bottom shelf and a rodent ran out of the box and over my arm. The employee I told found it amusing. I just had to get out of there, I called the store and asked for the manager, she informed me that they are aware of the problem and blamed it on the construction across the street. You may want to consider not having food in the store for the time being. Absolutely horrible. read more
