This is a Dollar Tree where you have to bag your own items. On more than one occasion I've had to bag my own items. The staff here is rude and unprofessional as I've seen. They have a few staff that are friendly and accommodating on bagging your items. But on more than one occasion I had to bag my own items while they only scanned your purchases and give a zoned out look. Rude! The store itself is your typical Dollar Tree. Not the biggest, nor the smallest. The store is a little dingy and is in a mediocre part of town. There's a small parking lot to park your car. Sometimes there's a homeless woman that sits outside of the Dollar Tree that doesn't ask for money but looks destitute. read more

I stopped in to grab a few things since I was in the area. The store was well stocked with lots more merchandise in the aisles ready to be put out. This store struggles to get good stock, much less on the shelves than the Dollar Store that went before. Biggest complaint for me is the guy out front selling incense, standing right at the front door, whistling repetitively and LOUDLY. NOBODY wants that coming into or leaving a store. There are two Dollar Tree Stores in San Pedro. Occasionally, when I'm driving around, I stop at the newer location on S. Gaffey, where the 99 Cents Only Store used to be. The first time I was in this store, a few months ago, I didn't care very much for the layout of the store, but what I most disliked was that fact the the floor to ceiling windows on the Gaffey Street side allowed the sun to blast through the store in the late afternoon. Well, it looks like the management noticed that feature and has since covered those windows. Much nicer now. Also, the shelves seem to be stocked much more effectively than last time, so I believe I'll come back when I'm driving around over there. read more

This is by far one of the worst Dollar Tree stores I have ever been to, and only because of the staff. I am really curious to know who is hiring the employees. They all are very rude and disrespectful except one staff member. It does not appear that anyone is in charge, and they do as they please. One cashier A heavy set woman is by far the worse of them all not sure if she is on drugs during work hours, but she is always zoned out and always talking on the phone, she does not speak at all. I am a regular customer that shops there probably spend around $500 a month. I'm reconsidering that because of an employee Ronnie that as of late has been less than polite. If you want to look in the cameras I was at the gentleman in the green shirt. I was looking in the refrigerator section for a pepperoni pizza due to the fact that they were mixed I took them out to try and find one. And she says no you need to stop that and stop messing up my section. I told her that the area it was mixed and I couldn't find one she says well get your pizza and then leave. I said to her not Ronnie I don't think you'd like it if I went to the management and told him how rude you're being and she's replied how do you get it I'm being rude you're the one who's mixing things up and I said I'm not mixing them they're already mixed. I told her that's the reason why people don't want to come back to stores it's just love feel free not to. And I said I was going to contact the management and she says go ahead I don't care. They're not going to do anything anyways. Now I understand that you're having a hard time keeping employees but this is not really an acceptable attitude. I don't want any gift certificates I don't want no reward for putting up with her. I just want the general respect that a customer deserves. Especially for one that is a regular customer. This store popped up in San Pedro with little fanfare. They didn't even have a Yelp page, yet! I decided to stop one day, because I was in a rush and I didn't feel like standing in a long line at another store for one item. I never really cared for Dollar Tree stores, because the ones that I had been in before were filthy, grungy, had mediocre customer service, and were minimally stocked with things you needed and overflowing with things you didn't. Fast forward to this store...I walked in not expecting much and intent on buying the one item that I came in for; hand soap equals $1. Nevertheless, I left with a $48 charge to my card. Does that tell you how great, clean, and well-stocked this store was?? Just walking in, I was impressed. They had so much stuff, the shelves weren't nasty and dusty. The floors were clean, the store was bright, customer service was on point, and there were 2 registers open, even though there weren't that many customers in there. I love to cook and am always in the kitchen. I found stuff that I needed like foil and foil sheets, plastic wrap, plastic bowl covers, sandwich and storage bags for the freezer, baking pans, soaps, and cleaning supplies. They also sell Betty Crocker Tupperware, in addition to the no-name brands, but I love the Betty Crocker ones, because they are strong and last. The parking lot is small, but it's clean and new. It can be a little tight in there, especially during peak times and seasons like Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it's worth it coming here. This is the best Dollar Tree that I've been in! read more

I have went to 4 different dollar tree stores. I was purchasing Christmas theme things and making little goodie bags for 25 students for my daughter's 8th bday to be celebrated in her classroom. Unfortunately the very last store I stopped at the store associate named "Mariana" was rude. After grabbing the things I needed, I noticed her standing at a register and I asked her loud enough for her to hear me, "are you open?" I was standing at the end of her lane and she didn't respond to me. I even said excuse me and took a step closer but no response. So I walked over to the other lane. Then I she turned her light on. So I walked back to her lane and I didn't think anything of it, I just figured she didn't hear me. The whole time I had a smile on my face. I explained to her I had 5 items to trade since I wanted the kids to have all the same things. She seemed uninterested and I walked out to grab the things. She called who I think was her manager over to help with the register. She rang me up and I still had a smile. She said she had to keep my original receipt from the other store. And I told her, "oh okay the other guy didn't ask for my receipt". Again I went to 4 different dollar trees because I was searching for the right amount of books, candy, and slime. The slime and books were the hardest thing to find so this was my last stop and I fortunately found everything I needed at this stop. Overall my point of this is I have driven to 4 different locations from Carson to Torrance to San Pedro. And it's close to the holidays and then I have to see Mariana act this way to customers. No one wants to look at someone that doesn't at least act like they like their job. You work in customer service and your service was not warming. From the lack of eye contact to the lack of communication. Worst experience at a dollar tree. I will never come to this dollar tree. My advice is if you don't like your job find a new one and do your job because as the face of the store you should have better presentation. Her attitude was just ugly. I am writing this letter in pure disgust. I was informed by my daughter about what I believe to be a very racially motivated incident that occurs daily in your store located at 1505 S Pacific Ave, San Pedro, and CA. 90731. My 15 year old grandson attends high school in the general area of this store. While he waits for his ride home after school he sometimes patronizes this store. He has been told several times by various employees he has to leave his backpack by the entrance to the store when he goes in to make purchases. On November 1, 2021 he went into the store after school to make a purchase. After completing his purchase he returned to the entrance only to discover his backpack was missing. He checked around the area and was unable to locate it. He determined that it had been stolen while he was in the store. My daughter went to the store today (November 2, 2021) and spoke to the manager (Nenis) regarding the stolen backpack. She asked if she could review the video footage in hopes of seeing who stole the backpack. Nenis was very rude to her and refused to let her see the video footage. She further stated that the employees make the school children leave their backpacks by the entrance only when they believe they are going to use the backpack to steal items from the store. My daughter asked Nenis had she ever observed my grandson steal anything from the store. Her reply was "no but he probably looks like one of the children who has stolen items in the past." I am a former Los Angeles Police Sergeant and have NEVER known of anyone to have a "look" like someone who steals. In my opinion this was a very racist statement against Blacks. My daughter was very upset about the interaction with Nenis, and phoned me to inform me about what had occurred. I went to the store shortly thereafter and spoke to Nenis. She asked me why I was there. I explained to her who my daughter was, and I was there as a follow up. I let her know I was there not only to see if I could view the videotape footage from the day prior, but to also get clarity on what she meant when she said my grandson probably looks like someone who steals. Nenis refused to show the videotape. I asked her was it a store written policy for school kids to leave there backpacks by the entrance. She told me it was not. If that were the case then there should be an employee assigned to monitor the backpacks while the children are in the store, to prevent incidents like this from occurring. The employees cannot be selective in who they designate to leave their backpacks by the entrance. A little background on my grandson. He has money every day he goes to school, therefore he has no reason to steal. He is 15 years old in the 10th grade of a Police Officer Preparatory High School very close to the store. I know him very well and I seriously doubt that he has ever stolen anything from that store. He lost a valuable backpack containing clothes and school supplies, all because patrons are not allowed to bring backpacks into the store. I guess the employees don't realize that if a person was going to steal that could just as easily place items in their pockets or waistbands. By continuing on in the manner of treatment to patrons, these store employees are opening up the Dollar Tree Corporation to a serious lawsuit. read more

I go often for party and craft supplies. Usually not a good area, not a good store, however they have had two cashiers and different occasions that were very friendly, accommodating, and sweet. As I'm bagging my items as fast as I could the cashier tells me "you need to hurry up" so I told her that I'm bagging as fast I can. I'm a very fast bagger! Then people in line start yelling comments to me like " why don't you go back to RPV. Go back to Trader Joe's. Go back to Whole Foods. I start crying moving fast as I can to move my cart, pay ect. This manager comes up front 2 inches from my face yelling at me that I need to leave. I had finished bagging and paying so I told her to get out of my face so I can get my bags of items I'd paid for. Then some huge man comes running up front yelling for me to get out and I don't belong there. So arrived home crying and my husband went there ASAP and told them off. I haven't written a review in a long time but I felt like my experience at this dollar tree was bad enough to warrant one. Fist off the parking lot was smelly ( foul urine and cabbage smell). Second everything was disorganized couldn't find anything. Third on top of the cashier being rude we were not even greeted. When me and my wife walked up to pay they started counting money From the register. Did not even bother to tell us that they would be with us in a moment. Fourth my son had to use the bathroom and they told me that there restrooms were out of order! ( yes both of there gender neutral bathrooms were allegedly out of commission!) horrible... No one has control over the neighborhood. I am happy for the people that live in this area that they have this store. It would be nice if they took better care of the outside so the surrounding area would reflect it. I went on my lunch break, to the Dollar Tree on Pacific, in San Pedro.There was only one cash register opened. When I was done getting my items, another cashier opened up. Right before I was going to be next the cashier put her " close " sign up. I told her I was waiting in line and she said she was already late for her lunch break. I asked her I like to speak to the manager. She said " I am the one in charge " she refused to check me out and refused to give me her name. She just walked away, I had to put my things back into my basket and went to the next opened cashier and waited in line again. The person that was in front of me, where the young lady refused to help me, heard me asking the cashier for her name a few times, when she saw and heard that the cashier ignored me and walked away.The person that had just paid, walked over and told me her name that was on her receipt. Her name was Milagros, she was in charge and her customer service was awful. She was very rude and refused to help me, knowing that the person in front of me had told her I had been waiting in line as well. If I would have known that her line was closed I would have not gotten in line and wasted my time. A person like Milagros should not work with people, if she does not know how to give decent customer service to the consumers. Maybe a class on customer service would be helpful to her. read more

Have been going to this store for years but never again. I was over charged on a clearance item. I pointed it out to the cashier who said she would call the manager. After 12 customers checked out, I was still waiting for this manager. I asked the cashier where the manager was and was told she's in the store and would be coming. I found her in the store talking to an employee and asked for her help. She asked me to wait and after a while turned to me and asked what I needed. I showed her my receipt for the over charged item. She asked me to show her the item and where I got it. It was an after Christmas 50% off item. It clearly said Cmas on my receipt but the manager insisted the charge was correct. I asked for a refund. She said they do not refund and suggested I get something else. I had finished shopping so I didn't want anything else. I was getting frustrated and the manager said she didn't like how I was speaking. I told her I waited 30 minutes to check out because there was only one cashier and the line went to the back of the store. Then waited another 20 minutes to get her to help me. The Latin manager is rude and without customer service skills. Never going to this store again. Not worth saving a few cents. read more
