This was on my list of black owned business I wanted to try for Black history month. Their parking lot is located underground for your convenience. You can go in from the left side of the building. It is well lit with plenty of signs to direct you. Upon entering you are welcomed into a well stocked store. Some things like some of their produce and meats are kept behind glass. The glass portions are not locked (Thank God!). If you take your time, you will spot a lot of items that are very cheap, really good buys. They also carry brands that are unique and may spark your interest to try. A lot of the items are overstocked, closeouts and past season items. Grocery Outlet accepts Snap/ Ebt cards also credit cards. You will need to bring your own bags or you can buy them at the outlet. They are open 7 days a week, Mon-Sun, 8am-9pm. When I went to check out, I questioned the high prices especially being charged $17 to have four keys made. Nothing had tags on it and she seemed to be making up the prices as she went along. I noted that it did not look like the keys were a good match to the existing keys but she insisted they were fine and that I take them and I bring them back if they didn't work. I told her that would be a waste of my time and she insisted she would not remake the keys and to bring them back if they didn't work. She charged me $37.16 for the transaction. When of course I got to my building and they were not even a tiny bit accurate I tried to return them and she was highly disrespectful. She gave me back $34 when I complained that that's not what I paid her. She started yelling at me and I tried to speak to her husband about the matter and she was trying to jump in my face and scream and throw her hands up. It was freaking insane. The last time I was there she was screaming at people on the phone and I thought well somebody's having a bad day but clearly this is how she does business. Avoid at all costs.

The store stays somewhat clean and is fairly organized. Overtime, I've noticed different employees in which some weren't friendly. However the recent ones that I've become familiar with is friendly and demonstrate customer service. The outside however can definitely use refacing. The parking area is run down, dirty looking and needs new parking lines. Oftentimes directly out front the trash is spilling over. These aren't major changes but are necessary ones. The neighborhood is fairly safe and the dollar tree is normally quiet and isn't too crowded. Not a bad store, just could use some improvements.

The staff is usually helpful and knowledgeable about the products. They did update the store. I heard back in October so it is organized a little better. I do use them just for a couple things to grab and when I come and get those little things they are there. The service was wonderful, and I found a book I couldn't resist taking home with me. Since their books are a third of the original retail price of the book, you can find some great deals while also supporting the Chestnut Hill Library when you shop at Hilltop! Definitely stop by if you're in the area and love a bookstore!
