Just make sure you check your bags carefully before selecting because sometimes you'll find a bruised tomato or something that's starting to spoil. The market is very quaint, and reminds me of a fish market that you might find at the shore. Today I came in looking for a nice piece of fish to throw on the grill. I settled on some wild caught salmon, and the nice young man behind the counter recommended the red fish, which I'd never had before. I won't lie they are pricey, but you get what you pay for. Both pieces of fish were amazing. Not only was the quality excellent, but possibly the best fresh fish I've had in many years. I won't gate keep, so I'll be suggesting this market to my friends. I definitely know people who are looking for a place to purchase quality, line caught fish and I'm happy to share. Great customer service. The staff was very friendly, and the fish monger offered to remove the bones without me asking. Excellent experience. I'll definitely be back.

Once in a while I would get something that was not as fresh, but it was very rare. Philly Foodworks is unique among csa-type distributors because they have a full online grocery store you can shop from, whether you're getting a produce box or not. I was able to get almost all of my groceries each week from Philly Foodworks with their numerous options. If you shop around, you can find really affordable items as well. Subscriptions for eggs, dairy, and meat offer further discounts. In general, I ended up spending as much, or a tad less, than I would for the same items from an actual grocery store. I only ever shopped online, but I believe they also have a store front you can go to if that option is better for you. They deliver right to your doorstep for a small fee and the actual process of getting groceries/subscriptions was always a breeze. The quality of the food cannot be overstated. Once you go direct from the farm, it's hard to go back to the tasteless big-box grocery store produce. The eggs and milk were also amazing, as was the beef. Last but not least, they're a great organization with increasing access, sustainability, and regenerative farming practices at the root of everything they do.
