Since their opening, I shopped at A & N 2-3 times a week. I spent a lot there for produce, flowers,…read moreand plants. They did not give receipts unless you asked for one. I rarely got a receipt. Last month after getting a large order, I asked for a receipt. When I got home, I realized I was overcharged for at least 4 items. I called and spoke to the owner who asked me to send her a photo of my receipt and photos of the items I purchased. I sent photos of the items I knew they overcharged me for plus my receipt, and she asked for photos of all of my items. I explained that you could tell nothing listed was $5 (melon) and $1 (fruit). I just wanted to be reimbursed for the overcharges. Had they done that I would not be writing this terrible review. There were way too many items for photos - it was absurd, so I returned everything and got "sorry" from the owner. I will not return and have shared this experience with my friends. Shame on them. Be careful and ask for a receipt if you go there. Deceitful practices and no customer service.

The staff is wonderful. the young people working the register are always polite, kind, and engaging, which makes the experience even better. They have fresh salads ready to purchase, along with a seafood counter and a meat counter, and everything always looks fresh and well prepared. The store itself is small and can get pretty busy, but that's part of the charm of a neighborhood market. You can also find flowers, mums depending on the season, fresh herbs, cheeses, bottled sauces, and other specialty items. They really have a little bit of everything. Prices are moderate. Of course, they may be a little higher than bigger places like Produce Junction, but that's expected for a small local market where you can walk in and get fresh items quickly. This was huge for me during the cucumber and tomato's recalls two summers ago as I was pregnant and would only eat produce from Phillyfoodworks. I also appreciate the variety of other options they provide. The fresh pasta is delicious and Im a huge fan of the chicken sausages. The customer service is also great and very responsive. Once in a while I would get something that was not as fresh, but it was very rare. Philly Foodworks is unique among csa-type distributors because they have a full online grocery store you can shop from, whether you're getting a produce box or not. I was able to get almost all of my groceries each week from Philly Foodworks with their numerous options. If you shop around, you can find really affordable items as well. Subscriptions for eggs, dairy, and meat offer further discounts. In general, I ended up spending as much, or a tad less, than I would for the same items from an actual grocery store. I only ever shopped online, but I believe they also have a store front you can go to if that option is better for you. They deliver right to your doorstep for a small fee and the actual process of getting groceries/subscriptions was always a breeze. The quality of the food cannot be overstated. Once you go direct from the farm, it's hard to go back to the tasteless big-box grocery store produce. The eggs and milk were also amazing, as was the beef. Last but not least, they're a great organization with increasing access, sustainability, and regenerative farming practices at the root of everything they do.
