This is where you go when you need event or party supplies that is not only a dollar but it's basically a Pinterest board of ideas. The Mid-City location is the best one in my opinion and I always find some amazing stuff. Parking is a bit of a pain but rest assured it's well worth it! read more

Stopped in for a few necessities and this store is horrible! Empty shelves, not much variety of certain items, and is dirty and run down. One cashier on duty and luckily there was not many shoppers in the store so I was able to find what I was looking for and get in and out quickly. Also in a sketchy area and seemed unsafe. read more

Omg this location is so ghettoo.. I walked in here and they was yelling over the intercom"If you stealing, we will get you and we called NOPD too. We are walking at the door" They said it over the intercom 3x. Then when me ans my sister was in line they had one employee at the door yelling harassing a man in line and telling the cashier "Make sure you scan everything" across the room. It was 3 sales associates just yelling and being ignorant. So embarrassing. Then one of the SA was yelling across the the room to this random lady saying "Ma'am, Ma'am, "you can't hear me" Ma'am, Rainbow purse" the lady couldn't hear her because she had headphones in her ear but the SA was trying to accuse her of steal. While all this is going on, everyone in line is embarrassed of how this location is acting so ghetto. They had security at the door that did absolutely nothing. I'm curious to know if the manager of the location is aware if how the staff acts but I also won't be surprised if one of the loud staff members that was there is actually the manager. Also mind you, they had so many staff members standing in the front of the store being loud and rude but yet have crazy long lines and empty shelves because no one is stocking. I prefer to rank businesses based upon what they are and the expectations I have for each place, but even by those standards, this branch of Dollar Tree falls short. Product: Lots o' cheap stuff, mostly non-perishables like toys, household goods, and the like, but also a decent selection of dried, canned, and frozen foods. Everything is dirt cheap, but be warned---low quality goes along with the low price. As long as you understand that, you should be fine. (3 stars) Service: Usually one or two cashiers, and *maybe* a stock/floor person. They're a decent enough bunch, and lines move rather quickly, but they don't maintain the store well. (2 stars) Facilities: This place sits in a strip mall on the corner of Tulane and South Carrollton, in the same building with Shamrock and the Nike Outlet. The exterior is pretty grungy and could use a thorough pressure washing. There is a private parking lot in front of the building, but the slots are narrow, so it is a tight fit, especially if you have a larger vehicle. The interior is usually in a state of disarray, with items not replaced over most of the store. I don't think they keep up with their store stock well, either, as some items which move quickly aren't replaced in a timely manner. (2 stars) Overall: A halfway decent place to stop for cheap, especially seasonal, items. The hours are decent, but, as noted, the place is a mess. (2 stars) read more

Wow is all I can say!! It looked like a scene from The Walking Dead! Shelves totally bare in several areas, items scattered all over where they don't belong and employees who don't want to work. I was shopping at this dollar tree with my two children when my 3 year old daughter had a sudden potty emergency. I went to the bathroom to find the door locked. I asked an associate stocking shelves and he said I needed to get the key from up front. I asked a cashier about the key and she replied it was out of order. I explained how I've been to this store before and I know that isn't true (This happened a year ago and I just had to find the right honest person to open the door). She called the manager, Angela. Angela proceeded to tell me the same lie while standing there staring at my daughter who was visibly uncomfortable and about to pee on herself. I had to grab both kids, throw them in the car and drive to another business down the street that accommodated her potty need with no problem (that's what customer service is supposed to look like). After solving the potty crisis I went back to get the managers name and try to get a phone number for someone in corporate that I could vent my frustrations to. I was told by another manager that the restroom was out of order and I asked her to show me to prove it (again I did this a year ago and know their games). She opened the door and low and behold the restroom was in perfect working order! I can't believe the utter human decency the manager Angela lacks. She would rather watch a child pee on herself then open a door. Ridiculous! Disgusting! In retrospect, I should have just let my daughter pee herself right there in front of the managers office so Angela could deal with the mess. I don't have faith she'll ever learn what customer service is but I hope one day she'll learn what empathy is for fellow human beings. read more

The cashier was not wearing a mask. When a customer asked her to please pull the mask up she replied it's hot, and I don't need to serve you. He asked her again and she responded I need to go wash my hands and walked away from the register. There was a problem with his transaction and another cashier walked over to help, he also did not wear a mask. When a customer asked him to please put his mask on both cashiers responded He's just trying to help you! Rude unacceptable behavior and not compliant with COVID-19 protocols. Y'all know I like to hit up the Dollar Tree a variety of event planner essentials and things to put an extra umph in our marketing booths. This location is extremely convenient for me since it's close to where our storage unit is located. Parking is easy enough though sometimes there are some shady characters loitering around the lot so move with a purpose. This location is larger than the Mid City one, I think, (though less balloon options) but not as clean as the Harahan location. This Dollar Tree is really quite excellent for holiday gift wrapping material and extra holiday decor on a dollar as well as containers for creating fun favors for parties. The staff has been pleasant enough though it's been a little messy a few time since I've been there, but they just opened not long ago. This'll probably be my new go-to Dollar Store. read more

The only reason I go to this one is because it is close to my house. Not much else positive to say about it. Shelves are frequently empty and customer service, meaning cashiers, (ok, it's Dollar Tree, I don't expect excellent customer service but a decent level would be nice) is extremely spotty. My last experience with a cashier there has kept me away. I made a verbal request, a very simple one, to bag my items in the reuseable bag I brought in, and the cashier completely ignored it. Not to mention the parking lot is a pain in the butt. read more
