Moving from their location in an old mall on the other side of town, Big Lots is now in a much…read morenewer building just off the highway, where Dunham's Sports used to be. Big airy entrance, lots of windows in front. Lots of room inside, and while everything is set up, they clearly have plenty of room to put in more displays later. Furniture is the first thing you see, and I bypassed it, since I've found it to be generally overpriced. I wandered the rest of the aisles. Big Lots has turned into a pretty standard discount store. Seems like when Odd Lots first started, they had lots of weird, leftover stuff, and you never knew what you would find. Now, they have a pretty predictable variety, with the occasional oddball item thrown in. Prices are higher, too. Still at or below average, but you have to watch. Don't assume you're getting a great deal. Worth coming to before you go anywhere else, to check prices and snag some deals. I got some socks, some candy, etc. And something oddball: dried mulberries. Limited selection of clothes, huge selection of candy and other dry goods. Some cold stuff like milk and lunchmeat, so you could come in for a quick resupply. Toys, tools, household goods, holiday stuff, etc. Service was great, as you might expect on the first day. I lucked into the soft open; I asked if they had opened recently, and they said "yeah, three or four hours ago." Grand opening is August 31, so they might have specials then. Clean, big, bright, with relatively good deals, convenient- I'll be back, a lot, I'm sure.

And they have amazing prices compared to other thrift stores. I ended up purchasing 4 things - a dresser, two chairs, and a coat 'tree'. An employee walks with you, marks what you want to buy, then checks you out. They will then help you load big pieces. Shout out to Seth & Wayne for being an amazing help to us on a busy weekend.

The cashier made their banana splits and used her BARE HANDS to pull out cherries to put on top and then proceeded to LICK her hands. NOPE- not going back there again if this is how they do business. That is a health code violation. The cashier also was telling her friends that she let cut the lines how she didn't want to be there.... Go find a job somewhere else if you don't want to be there. Oh, yes, we saw the gal's tag- Elizabeth was the worker that night. 3 groups of us (2-3 people each) ended up leaving because we were there for over 15 minutes without being talked to or orders taken. The woman behind me talked to the cashier too about licking her hands and not helping the customers who were there first because she was just as mad as I was. I am going to be calling the franchise owner on this one.

I used to think Sheetz was overhyped. Before they came to town, I had only tried them once on vacation. And I didn't think it was anything special. Now they are all over Central Ohio. Gas prices are usually good. Inside, you have a regular convenience store plus made to order fast casual food. Burgers and brats and whatever. A little better than typical fast food, plus the convenience of one stop for everything. I'm not saying Sheetz is amazing, but it is very nice to have around.

I was at our local store on Mother's Day and outside was a table with workers and some young kids…read morehelping other kids and adults fill cute pink buckets with choices of flowers and soil for Mother's Day. I was helped making 6 of them, when finished I was ready to pay and surprise, it was free! I was told the store likes to give back to the community by doing this, hot dog food cart, etc! What a wonderful way to show appreciation to the community! Thank you to all workers and others who helped this event!
