Mom and I enjoy thrift store shopping and Salvation Army is our go to thrift store. We like to try…read morethe different thrift stores near us so today we traveled from Sterling Heights to this Salvation Army in Oxford. I would have given 5 stars but I dinged one star for two reasons: the prices at all Salvation Army's has jumped AND they have removed the option to buy jewelry! I really should take away two stars for the removal of jewelry! They used to sell sunglasses, watches, jewelry and other unique pieces behind the glass area (not sure, I forget what it is called when someone has to help you when something is behind glass). A few months ago or last year we noticed Salvation Army would bag a bunch of jewelry up in one bag and say it was $70 or $100 - um, really? You couldn't see the pieces and WTH, why do you think we are at a thrift store...like I have $100 for a guess what's in here bag? There is plenty of parking, the employees are professional and kind. The store is well laid out lots of options for buying...ahem, minus jewelry!

I don't know how, but this specific Salvation Army location always has the best pieces. Every time…read moreI'm here I go to the cash register with a full cart. Of course, like any thrift/donation store, there are a lot of questionable garments and items that sit on the racks for months as well as items from shady brands like Shein. This is in no way their fault, of course, but it is something to mention because, yeah, there's a LOT of Shein. However, there has not been a single time where I haven't found several QUALITY pieces of clothing for me and my family. I always find genuinely nice items here from brands that I wouldn't be able to afford retail as well as more common brands, and my favorite, vintage! I love being able to enjoy shopping sustainably here and helping add less clothing to the landfill a few miles away!

I am so excited to have this beautiful grocery store open! I love the bright and open design with…read moreplenty of windows, high ceilings and wide aisles. The selection of grocery food items is tremendous! I love the fresh baked cinnamon rolls from the bakery - so many options here. Fruit and veggie selection is wonderful. There's a pharmacy and extensive pet supply area. There are regular checkout counters and an extensive number of self checkout stations. I keep going back multiple times a week because shopping here is fast and easy.

I'm so excited that this Meijer opened! I heard about it and was excited that not only a location…read morein this area was coming along, but that it was a smaller, more market place type instead of a gigantic location. Walking in, the place is clean, well lit and tons of staff were around. the deli and bakery area had tons of food to choose from. Not only fresh produce, but lots of prepared foods as well. Great selection and prices of items, well organized and easy to see. The wine section here is tremendous. It seems bigger than most, and I really liked that. I cruised through but didn't buy any. The freezer section had tons of stock and the aisles were wide and easy to navigate. They also have household items like detergent, toys and other items as well. The checkout area had a large selection of self service stations and registers with employees. Since I only had a few items, I did self checkout. The parking lots a bit tight, but doable. You just might have to circle a minute before finding a space. There's lot of good things about this place being here. I don't come to Lake Orion a lot, but I do occasionally cruise through here from time to time, and never really saw a grocery store (outside of stupid Kroger) in the area. Thanks for being here Meijer, I love it!

We came for their annual Cupcake Crawl, an event you pay a few dollars for and you are given a card…read morewith participating businesses' names on them and you collect mini cupcakes from each one. You don't have to participate in the event to shop but it's a lot of fun. We came to this event last year and enjoyed it but this year, there were less businesses participating likely because they don't find value in it. We shop at most of the places we visit and typically buy something but I'm sure most have to weigh the cost versus the return. We have a lot of fun strolling through, collecting our cupcakes (we bring a tin because we found we can't eat them all at once), shopping, and visiting with the shop owners. They also have a Cookie Crawl near the holidays but I didn't enjoy that as much as this one.

The lights are everywhere and flows nicely throughout the Christmas village. Plenty of shops and eateries to stop in and warm up or grab a warm hot cocoa or specialty drink. I loved that they setup and goat and sheet feeding pen. The kids and adult's thoroughly enjoyed this experience. The photo opportunities are endless and brings back the traditional family Christmas vibe. The bar and warming area at the end was great, plus the grinch was there for photo ops. Lots of seating in the bar area or outside around the open barrel fires. You'll love this experience for the whole family.
