I would have given 5 stars but I dinged one star for two reasons: the prices at all Salvation Army's has jumped AND they have removed the option to buy jewelry! I really should take away two stars for the removal of jewelry! They used to sell sunglasses, watches, jewelry and other unique pieces behind the glass area (not sure, I forget what it is called when someone has to help you when something is behind glass). A few months ago or last year we noticed Salvation Army would bag a bunch of jewelry up in one bag and say it was $70 or $100 - um, really? You couldn't see the pieces and WTH, why do you think we are at a thrift store...like I have $100 for a guess what's in here bag? There is plenty of parking, the employees are professional and kind. I grew up in Lake Orion and came back for a visit this weekend. It was the first time in a very…read morelong time that I had gone downtown to go shopping. I was so excited to see new shops and boutiques had opened up and was very impressed with Simply Marcella. Simply Marcella is the ultimate girly girl boutique, right down to the fact that they have a liquor license so you can drink wine while you shop. There are also a few things for the men as well, but most (as my husband did) would probably prefer to sit in the comfy chairs in the center of the store while us ladies do our thang. There was a lot to look at from wines to purses to clothes and jewelry. What immediately caught my eye was their selection of black pearls. The owner's sister was quick to help me and very knowledgeable about the pieces. She was super friendly and great to talk to. In the end, it was love at first sight with a simple black pearl necklace. My husband then became very helpful and got off the couch! I really hope to see downtown LO grow some more and will tell everyone that it's great to shop local, especially in stores as unique as Simply Marcella.

We came to this event last year and enjoyed it but this year, there were less businesses participating likely because they don't find value in it. We have a lot of fun strolling through, collecting our cupcakes (we bring a tin because we found we can't eat them all at once), shopping, and visiting with the shop owners. They also have a Cookie Crawl near the holidays but I didn't enjoy that as much as this one.

We got a bad taste in our mouth and looked around for a minute in the back and proceeded to leave via front door and again we were not acknowledged. Every other store we went in that day the workers said Hi, how are you girls today, anything you need help with, etc. Not looking for anything major if your in the middle of something but a quick Hi is not much to ask when someone enters your shop. On another note - I took a bunch of Loft items in excellent condition a few years back and they basically only took a couple of items stating some of them were out of date (they were not even 2 years old and am I supposed to only wear something a year then give away in order for a consignment shop to take them) yet they take brands like Old Navy and all the Target brands. Would not waste my time going here again.
