As a vendor, I was there 4-5 days a week and have always seen the employees cleaning or stocking…read moreproducts. Very few of them actually greeted you, while the others looked very stressed.. the reason I'm giving them 3 stars is because some employees and especially the managers (Mike & the heavyset gentleman) lack very simple customer service skills, if you are working with the public the least you can do when someone is going into YOUR store is greet them. Instead, they will look at you and walk right past you. Sometimes they are the happiest people in the world and will even go in detail about their life and other days it's like you're invisible. I don't care to be friends or have in depth conversations BUT use common courtesy, we all have bad days.. we are all stressed about something.. but again you choose to work with people, learn how to greet or give a smile, even if it's fake. It's a problem, especially when their employees apologize on their behalf.

As usual for the company, the store was super clean and aisles were very wide making it easy to navigate. It's not very large but you can find great deals on grocery items. They have everything from fresh food to frozen food. There are even special finds sometimes that rotate in. The checkout process was simple. You have a choice of self checkout or checking out with an employee. If you're new to the brand, just keep in mind that it's stripped away a lot of things others grocers use in order to keep cost down. There are less employees, a lot of items are not name brand, shopping carts, you provide your bags, you rent shopping carts.

Today I went to food lion and I purposely got the store brands to make my total cheaper because I…read morehave been low on money. Once I got up to the cash register my total was $3.15... I had a 5 dollar bill and gave it to the cashier, and told her I would give her 15 cents. I look in my wallet and see I only have pennies and quarters, so I gave her a quarter and said to keep the change, meaning the loose change, like the coins. she then proceeds to give me back a recipe with none of my leftover dollars. I felt very uncomfortable explaining myself, so I said nothing and just accepted the recipe. this is common sense, if I wanted her to keep all of the change, why would I have given her a quarter. I thought this was very unprofessional and I was very angry afterwards. I would have felt better about this if the cashier interacted and thanked me at least, but said nothing at all.

Smallish store although there is an extension off one side for indoor/outdoor furniture, miscellaneous. I find the book section as best place to grab cheap pick for a flight, also lot of kid books. There are some name brands on cereals, detergent but a lot of knockoff brands for cheapish. This store has flooring, area rugs, sofas, clothing, towels, some decent candy. The store is clean, items do not litter aisles, employees helpful. My only complaint would be you have to drive to find it. It's kind of in a dead business area, if it were closer to more lively businesses would be better.

They sell guitars, vinyl records, graphic tee shirts, stuffed animals, assorted Legos, and my favorite, the mystery boxes! What I particularly enjoyed about 2nd & Charles was that they had all of the new titles and bestsellers, as well as a large collection of eclectic and vintage books that you could check out and peruse. They also offered you the opportunity to sell and trade books that you've finished, and had a section of books that were "lightly used" and highly recommended from previous readers. In addition, although I don't play video games myself, they had a nice collection of video games that were brought in from previous users, as well as a humorous assortment of t-shirts and office supplies that are sure to break the monotony of a regular office space. To conclude, 2nd & Charles was such a fun and unique store, which offered a dynamic combination of new and used books, music supplies, video games, and a range of other interesting miscellaneous items. I'm so glad that I stopped in, and while I don't really see myself becoming a "regular", I'll definitely be back in the future, and would recommend that anybody stop in if they're looking for a change of pace and exciting shopping opportunity!

A pickleball racket for $6 seems like a great deal, the Chuckie plush was $7, and we found very fluffy lounge pants $7 per. Other than these items the store doesn't offer much quality merchandise unless it is much more like $35 for a medium size Nutcracker. Most of the items on isles are $7, the stores name needs to literally be changed to 7 and Below. You have to look hard to find anything priced at $5. The location of this business is a nightmare to leave parking lot during high traffic days. There are only two exits in lot in form of C shape back onto Harbison so the car lines get long and slow to exit lot. Better quality than Dollar Tree but not than Dollar General.
