This is the only place in Davis where it feels like you could get mugged. I'm not sure if the Dollar Tree originally changed the flavor of the neighborhood, or if Dollar Trees are only built in shady areas. Well it's a store that sells everything for $1. So it is what it is. The windmill almond cookies are really good. Only a $1. But they go stale in like one day if you don't ziplock them. Also they have cheap dog toys. Guard yo grill!!!!!! (BTW this is Davis so the shadiest of areas here are still pretty safe neighborhoods compared to the rest of the real world :-D) read more

For davis it's not half bad. It's cool Davis finally got a dollar store. There are no hidden surprises when you check out just about everything is just a dollar. You can't really go wrong here except with as many employees as they have working at one time you do spend most of your time in line. They only have one register open most of the time. read more

as a new college grad, trying to live off my own income, sometimes desperate times call for trips to the dollar tree. i wouldn't recommend making any food purchases (not that i have) but something about a $1 jar of martini olives just doesn't sound right. however, they dO have an entire aisle dedicated to pantyhose and underwear if you wanted to go cheap on the unseen pieces of apparel. but above all their choice selections of pseudo-bath and body works fragrances and plastic cake toppers are the cleaning supplies. located on the back wall, you have your choice of carpet cleaning foam, huge bottles of super-action ammonia, and the good 'ol disinfectant spray. what's more is that they even have Swiffer wipes for just $1! coming in 20 wipes a pack, not even costco can beat them with their summer passport coupon! as for the other items in the store.. i'll leave that up to your own discretion. read more

This place opened my junior year and I can't even tell you how many random trips my friends and I took here. The candy aisle is awesome and there is so much random crap here! We would buy cleaning supplies, balloons....dressup items for theme parties. I'd never heard of the Dollar Tree before this one and I can imagine ones in other locations are kinda sketch, but it's Davis....there's nothing sketchy in Davis. read more

Went to the Dollar Tree today to grab some water blasters for a rafting trip next week. I went with 2 of my friends around 2pm or so. I am taking time to write a review because the african american cash register lady was so nice. She provided exceptional customer service and was extremely friendly which I appreciated because most Dollar Tree Stores that I have been to have employees that do their job and rarely go above and beyond to make conversation with their customers. I felt bad for her because the line to pay was long and she was the only person working the register. There was a white man perhaps in his 50s who was very rude to her and yelled at her in front of a line of people. She still made sure she did her job with a smile on her face and was very polite to the man who was rude. Next time I go to the Dollar Tree I will look out to see if she is working so I can checkout with her because I definitely appreciate the friendliness she provided. read more

I was really rather disgusted at the dirty appearance of the Dollar Tree in Davis CA last week. I was looking for some glassware and the shelves were just filthy. They had obviously not been cleaned in a long time. The floors were dirty as well. Though I like the poster board and plastic plates etc that I can get there, the store needs a big general cleaning. I have been in the Woodland one and it is very clean. read more

i came into dollar tree last week and watched as the manager carol tried to apprehend a family that she assumed was stealing. i confronted her and asked if she had visibly witnessed them stealing which she would not answer. she recovered no merchandise, and simply harrassed a hispanic family that she was suspicious of. i called her boss mr chavez who has yet to return my call. carol should be fired for her actions as suspicion does not constitute a crime. highly unprofessional and disgusting. read more

Gotta love Dollar Tree. You never know what you're going to find, but you can fairly consistently find something cool/unintentionally hilarious/tasty. In fact, you can usually find something tasty AND non-smashed/expired/carcinogenic, which is a pretty big deal for a Dollar Tree. This location opened up right across the street from my high school the first year I was there, and it faithfully supplied snacks, caffeine, and off-label project supplies to our entire school. Plus, points for not being like The 99 Cent Store and advertising $.99 products, only to round up the last cent. Penny-pinching bastards. At least these guys are honest. read more

If I could rate this 0 stars I would. They have the most rude staff I have ever seen. This personally did not happen to me but I saw it happen to a young girl. First of all I can vouch that there is no sign that says no dogs allowed. The girl was holding probably a 2 month old puppy in her hands. As they were about to check out, a worker told the girl in a rude way that no dogs were allowed. She stated that they didn't want to leave their puppy in the car because he's too young and it was hot outside, and they were about to leave anyway, and the girl said in an ever ruder way that it doesn't matter you have to leave. As the girl was leaving she said next time it would be helpful if you can put a sign out that says no dogs so this doesn't happen to anyone else, and she gave a smirk and walked away, the rudest staff possible and it shows they hire practically anyone. It's also messy and not very well organized. read more
