I went into the Dollar Tree on E 8th last night. I had two items. The line went from the only line open, down the isle, all the way to the back wall. This happens often. The "manager " closed down that one check out lane,as he said he had to switch out the money till. He took the checker and her cash drawer, and disappeared into the office. The person they had replace her had to count his money prior to checking anyone out. The "manager " had told everyone in line that there will be 3 lanes open soon. He never came out to help the customers. He loves to talk endlessly. Several of us left our items on the closest shelf, and walked out. I discovered there is another Dollar Tree on Lake st. I went today to find a clean, well stocked store. No annoying poles strapped to the top of the cart. No squeezing through the aisles around their pallets of of food/ supplies. Beware! My husband went to E 8th for a bag of pretzels. He was in lane over 15 minutes. Can anything be done? read more

The manager with the beard is just awful. While the line kept getting longer and longer, he was sitting in the office with another employee laughing loudly. When I went to get a key for the rest room he yelled loudly at me telling me not to come to the office door. This man is out of control and extremely unprofessional. Come on Dollar Tree, you can do better than this. Why would a manager allow the people shopping to have to stand in a super long line rather than cut his break short and actually do a little work helping out the poor cashier. It just doesn't make any sense. This guy needs to go. read more

All I would say about this store is there is a better one (newer, more organized and friendly) on Lake Blvd in West Davis. There are still some items I specifically go here for - some cleaning products, greeting cards, coloring books, paper towels. Beware some items are now priced at $3 and $5 so it is not just a $1 store anymore. The chip/candy aisle is also a bargain. It must be hard to work here because there is so much stock to get out on the floor and they always seem to be barely staffed. read more

It's really a shame this Dollar Tree isn't better kept up. Every time I'm in it seems I'm on a constant lookout for tripping hazards and roadblocks. If it weren't for this I would certainly be more excited to stop by for all the surprisingly decent quality of items they carry. They're really perfect for things like batteries, candy, birthday cards - and their customer service ranges from satisfactory to great! But the disarray I so commonly see throughout the store stops me from wanting to come back very often. read more

More than once when I have shopped at the Davis dollar store there is only one checker. A few days ago there was 15 people in line and 1 checker. People were getting mad so I went to find the manager. I was informed that dollar store will only allow one checker. They base it on how many people shop there. I asked isn't there anything u can do to help? She finally said I can check people out but I can't do cash transactions. I said great. She was able to help several of us. Now that is a great manger. So thank u. But shame on dollar store for making that poor single cashier have to deal with the backlash of some very angry customers. Maybe if enough of us complain they will change there policy and give the cashiers some help. Like it's ok to Open a second register if more than 5 people in line. I use to love this store but the last couple of times I've shopped here the checkers have not worn their masks properly. One wore it loosely below her nose, the other just wore it around her neck. Besides a stated store policy to wear masks, Yolo County also has a mask mandate. I expect the employees to abide by stated rules and common courtesy to customers, as well as health and safety for all. I will be going to the West Davis store from now on. read more

The place is gross, the cashiers have ring stuff up slower than a sloth in the dmv. One star because sometimes you have no choice but to go there. But the customer service is absolutely atrocious especially with seniors. I have seen it over and over at this location. Save yourself the headache and go to the nice dollar tree and west Davis, their store is clean, they have better stuff and their customer service is always awesome. I come here for very specific items, which they have in stock most of the time. Can't beat the prices. The selection could be more extensive. There is no fresh produce at this location, but it's conveniently located next door to Grocery Outlet. Check-out lines can be long since there's usually only one or two registers open. That said, checkers are efficient and accurate. I'll be back again and again to get those dollar deals. read more

In the past I've enjoyed shopping at this Dollar Tree and spending time browsing. They have the usual stock of Dollar stores and it can be a bit untidy but it's expected. Unfortunately -they don't enforce the state mask mandate that was re instated on July 30. Many customers without masks and staff saying nothing. I love shopping here but can't go back until they ensure safety for their shoppers. read more

Just had a super weird experience at this store with the male cashier. As he was ringing up my stuff, he started talking about cancer, and how all of Dollar Tree's products will give people cancer, and he was reading the ingredients in the stuff that I was buying and saying things like, "Red 40, that stuff is going to give you cancer." And, "All of our candy canes contain Titanium Dioxide, which is a poison. But, candy canes are a billion dollar industry, so we have to sell them." As he was ringing up my stuff and putting it in my cart. I'm not sure if this guy is the manager or not, he's kind of this heavy set white guy with a beard. But, it was a weird and upsetting experience. If I could afford to shop anywhere else, I definitely would, but it's very weird to be admonished for your food choices at a Dollar Tree. Especially by an employee, who is supposed to at least pretend that they enjoy working there. I don't know if they just hate their job, or if they are trying to get fired, but it was super odd. And, I was with my mom, and now she's trying to get me to throw out all of the food that I just bought, because this guy freaked her out. read more

Some times I come here and my wallet gets regretful flashbacks because I find stuff here for a dollar that I way overpaid for! (Office Depot wanted $8 for trifold I bought here for only $1) They have stuff for all occasions and even name brands (stuff like Colgate toothpaste)! I personally don't like/am wary of generic brands, I'm glad they stock big brands too. Today I even came across Mod Podge sealer/glue! The one negative thing I have to say is some of their items are randomly seasonal. You might find here once, and when you want to buy more.. They're not stocking it anymore! For a dollar tree, this place does the job for certain items like a glass cup, glass vase or a cute card. It's pretty organized but there are items on the shelves that are caked with dust. I always like getting my candies from here, espcially lemon heads. They also have bunchacrunch (litte bite size crunch bars). Also for holiday decorations and stocking stuffers, this will be my go to place since they do have decent items around the holiday times. For pet items, they have little cat toys (little mouse on a stick and others) that my kittes loves a lot. I love it when I can find the big cans of Friskies since 1 can is about 2 meals for 2 of my little kitties. So much more worth it compared to 1 small can for .68. I really like the small pink rose scented trash bags since they're perfect for my desk side trash can. I would get a lot at once so that I wouldn't have to go back for a bit. Recently, I ran out and went back to look for more. I couldn't find them anymore :[. I asked an employee about it but she just said that she doesn't know. Not very helpful. All in all, it's the best for a college student's budget, things aren't bad but can be a bit better. read more

This store is located right by the L bus line, so I'll stop by here after coming back from campus or on my way to the bus stop. There is also a grocery outlet in this shopping center as well. It's a standard Dollar Tree, although the cleanest one I have ever been to. I came here for push pins and cheap pens for class. I like that I can easily walk to this location, too. Especially because it has all the basic necessities a college student will need. (Cleaning supplies, school supplies, food, drink, etc.) Also, for some reason they had my FAVORITE shampoo here. I think this Dollar Tree location is much larger than the one near me in San Diego, both in floor space and in merchandise. I had fun looking around and even bought a few things. When I inquired if they gave cash back, as I was running low, I was told they give $10-$50 and there is a dollar charge. That sounded fair enough so I did it. Now I have a little more cash in my pocket for those places that don't take cards. The clerk was very nice, which I always appreciate. read more

Zero Stars if I could. The employees of this store have tendency to open the store late. Again, a couple weeks ago, I waited for a whole hour before I gave up and just left. This is typical on Sundays and who knows what the rest of the week is like. The Store is always messy and VERY dirty not to mention disorganized!!!! Overall, the employees at this store are rude but I had the worst experience with one of their Assistant Managers by the name of Cameron. This guy is the rudest in the store. How he became a manager is unbeliveable to me! He is usually frustrated and displays a short temper while assisting customers in line, including me! This is why I'm on yelp right now reporting this. I have never been so infuriated by a cashier in my entire life. HOW DARE YOU TREAT US ANY DIFFERENT BECAUSE WE ARE COLLEGE STUDENTS! Do you think because we are college students you can treat us worse? Our cashier was really nice to a family in front of my friends and I. My friend was next in line but the cashier thought her things belonged to the family, so she was about to scan an item. However, my friend stopped her and said, "wait, that's mine." The cashier made a face as if she didn't trust her and turned to the family, "is this yours?" They assured her it wasn't. THEN THE DAMN CASHIER SHOVED MY FRIEND'S ITEMS AWAY, OVER THE DIVIDER THAT SEPARATED OUR THINGS, AND INTO MY STUFF, WHICH THEN FELL INTO THE PERSON'S ITEMS BEHIND ME. I expected an apology but instead, she TURNED TO THE FAMILY IN FRONT OF US AND APOLOGIZED. Then the cashier angrily shouted at us, "Divide your things NOW!" as if it was our fault. What horrible service! After we paid for our things, the cashier didn't even speak to us or anything even when my friend thanked her. When we were about to leave, we saw another family making their way to her and she was her cheery self again. She obviously must have something against college students. Anywho, I didn't leave Dollar Tree completely empty handed :) I picked up some dog toys and treats for my little four legged friend. You know what I like about this place? Everything is $1!! There is a parking lot, which makes it very convenient! No need to hassle parking on the street and so forth. And this location is pretty neat with alot of stuff for a tiny Dollar Tree (i've been to bigger stores..which is why i refer this one to TINY). P.s. I cannot believe Davis allowed a dollar tree to come to town. They won't let Trader Joes, but the dollar tree sneaks their way in. Putting it in an already run down shopping complex was not the best of ideas. Parents openly spank their children, people yell at the long lines, and grandmas decide trinkets at dollar tree are a better deal than their neighbor's garage sale. Even though I like a good deal...I enjoy variation in my prices. I only use the dollar tree to buy poop bags for my dog. read more

Well, as usual, the store was a mess. You can't fault the employees because you know they are short staffed and these places notoriously don't give managers the hours they need to keep their stores picked up. But, that aside, I think Dollar Tree corporate should secret shop this store. Just encountered a checker with a really bad attitude. He was so rude a fellow shopper who had seen how he talked to me approached me after I left the store and asked if I was ok. Clearly this young checker has no training in customer service or if he does he did not care. I get it that pay is low and hours are probably part time without benefits, but while you are at work you could show customers a tiny amount of courtesy. The fellow customer who approached me later said they too had experienced a similar rudeness by this same employee the times they had shopped there - so this was not an isolated incident. If the Dollar Tree store manager reads their Yelp reviews - you might want to do some house cleaning at the checkstands - or at the least - do some inservice training about how to talk to customers. That includes no eye-rolling, head shaking, laughing at or otherwise disrespecting customers. read more

I love the dollar store! I always get balloons, gift bags, and plastic cups here! I went here the other day to buy acetone and easter stuff for a tea party I am having. It is such a a steal! OK. It's a dollar store, how can you not like? The best things to get here are plates, bowls, cups, papernapkins, and any cookware/bakeware,cleaning supplies and sometimes candy. Perfect for a college student. I'm a little iffy about the candy here b/c I once bought a box of sweets and took a bite, I realized it was expired. Well obviously, b/c it tasted stale and the date on the box was a big indication. LOL I still buy candy here sometimes but I check the expiration date now. I don't know, eating candy from the dollar tree makes me feel like "I'm living on the edge". The area is a little shady. Plus side is, it's right next to the R&R. read more

This is one of the best Dollar Stores I have ever been to. The one in Livermore, for example, is very dirty and I always have to use lots of hand sanitizer whenever I leave. (This reminds me: note to self: Yelp Livermore Dollar Tree.) This Dollar Store is very good. It's clean, and has a great selection of everything, from books to household cleaning supplies. I got a back of scouring pads here for pretty cheap although they disintegrated very quickly. read more

Great place to have in a college town. Everything is $1 (tax not included). I always come here for cleaning supplies, cooking utensils, and other random things (I found a pretty awesome coupon organizer here). They also have a decent selection of school supplies. I took off a couple of stars because the lines can get really long, and it takes a while to get out of the store. Also, they charge a $1 fee to get cash back. read more
