Right next-door to the Royal Pho Vietnamese restaurant is a Dollar Tree store. I was like alright, why not, moment. I had time to kill to see what they have in store that I may need on my vacation. With that said, I came here after having dinner at Royal Pho Vietnamese restaurant next-door. It was after 8 PM on a Thursday evening. November 2024. It was two days after the presidential election that rocked America. A dollar tree store was fully stocked with random stuff for sale and the food items were basically in the back of the store, nearly frozen food items and refrigerated items that I thought were pretty good and discounted for most people's budget. And so I went there, in the back of the store were the frozen foods and the refreshing drinks. 75% of the store was household items that don't require consuming. I spent about 15 minutes here walking around the store and looking around what I could use on my vacation. After getting bored, I directly went to the back of the store and picked out a couple of items that proved to be a good thing during my stay here in Crystal Lake. My friend was waiting for me anyway, so I had to make this trip to the dollar store pretty quick. I ended up making the purchase and I spent a good amount of money here and it was a good time had by all. I am thankful that dollar tree is here because I could get discounted stuff here versus going to a local supermarket and getting the same stuff there. I think that's how it is with supermarkets, local grocery stores, Costco, and Whole Foods, among other shopping brands. Yes they seem like a thrift store with a candy shop in the back, with a grocery store attachment. I guess whatever you can get for cheap is usually here at the dollar tree store. The overall experience here at this particular Dollar Tree store in Crystal Lake, Illinois was definitely an interesting experience, but typical and casual at the same time. They have random household items and things you would find around the house on a typical day. Most of the stuff you'd find probably are second hand but you could also find in some Walmarts too. Still, it was interesting that I was having a pretty good time here looking around before getting what I needed for the evening. The store was clean and organized for sure. I felt like going into someone's house and they organized it, the stuff that they wanted to sell, along with other stuff to eat in the freezer along with drinks that were cold. That's the vibe that I got. Just being real after dinner in Crystal Lake, IL in early November 2024. The store cashier was friendly enough and got thru my purchase transaction without any dramas. It does feel like a thrift store but the items feel more new than gently used. Still, it was nice to get fresh food, albeit either frozen or refrigerated, but it was good. I enjoyed the fact that they had discounted drinks and ice cream here when available. That's basically what I looked for when I came here that evening in this Crystal Lake location. The location was perfect, inside, you can judge for yourself if this place is good for you. This particular Dollar Tree store is located in a small shopping alcove in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Next door is the Royal Pho Vietnamese restaurant. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. I used credit card this time around. As far as parking goes, they have plenty of parking for anyone and everyone to come and park here. Quite the amount of parking to where you can secure your spot before the lunch or dinner rush comes thru the door. If you are like me, try to have local friends come and pick you up, since I got here and left here via a local friend who picked me up for dinner at my hotel and we ended up shopping here at the Dollar Tree afterwards to kill time. Not sure if Crystal Lake has its own public transportation system here, besides the Metra train from Crystal Lake to Chicago, but best bet would be to double check on that to make sure they do before coming over. There's always Uber and Lyft to get you to here, wherever your original destination would be. With that said, you may like dollar tree, or you may hate it. But it serves his purpose in the community in which it serves. Best bet is to come here when the prices are good, and the ice cream is still frozen. At least that's what I get when I can visit the dollar tree 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 3.5 stars for the service and ambiance. 5.0 stars for the location and some deals I found shopping. I come here a lot, never had a coworker just hate her job. Her name is Christine, blonde straight hair. She was on her phone as i proceeded to put things on the to pay. I was ready and she seemed to be very bothered and upset to put her phone down to cash me out. Not even a hello? I was ready to pay, she told me my total and gave me my receipt and not even a thank you ? I said thank you as I was walking out. Send her home so she's happy. read more

I'm not sure what you're expecting from a Dollar Tree. In my experience here, the staff has been friendly and kind. I'm sure they've had their bad days, but I haven't seen them. If you don't shop here, you should for these items: - LED lightbulbs - Toothpaste - Art supplies - Balloons You just need to make this a regular stop for certain things on your list and then get out. There's a lot of good stuff in here, and if you're not prepared, you tend to overspend unnecessarily. read more

I love the especially now that they sell items for more the $1.25, u can decorate your home with there cute stuff

I went in for a couple things with my daughter. I couldn't find certain party items so I asked the cashier and she gave me such attitude and said everything they had was out and waved me away. I found a girl stocking shelves and she walked me over and personally helped me. I asked her name and she said Savannah. When I went to purchase my items I got the crabby cashier's name which was Nancy. (Who was still rude.) Friendlier people should be put up front!! read more

Recently visited, doors were open, lots of people wearing green shirts walking around. Turns out they were closed, for a "Renovation". Well one of the older guys came out like a Pitt bull yelling "were closed!, I'm a veteran wearing my veterans hat, so some guy yelling doesn't phase me. I just said well thanks was about to ask. This guy might want to remember? That it's the customers like me that helped pay for this renovation. Hope I don't run into this jack ass. Dollar tree ? You might want to put up some closed signs ? read more

I bought a few things from the store, and even though it was for a short time, I actually liked the experience. I do not really go in here much, and the recent visit I made to the store was probably the first time I had been in this location. The store is clean and it is so organized that it is like everything is placed properly and neatly and the layout is super easy too. Everything is accessible and they have a really nice selection of beauty products, which I did not plan on buying but ended up doing so because I really liked particular items that I found in their selection of beauty products. Plus, the prices were very reasonable too. Prices here are really cheaper; in fact, this is probably the cheapest store I visited. It is also a great store to stop by for a few daily necessities. I mostly bought the daily necessities I needed and, of course, the beauty products I found inside. I like everything I bought, not only because of its quality but also because of its price. I also think that I saved more compared to if I went to some other grocery store in the area. I like this store. The service is also great. The staff were nice and friendly, and checkout was so easy too, with no long lines. read more

I was just in this store today but when I walked in. I needed to use the bathroom pretty quick so I went straight to the register and asked for the key. The clerk said the plumber was called and it was out of order. I said, well that must be pretty rough on you guys since you have to be here all day. I walked to the bathroom anyway to see if there was an out of order sign on it and there was not. This is the second time since this past summer this happened to me. What is it with these people? I don't understand it. If a person needs the bathroom, they need it and obviously the employees go to the bathroom. Maybe they thought I wasn't a customer since I went straight for the key instead of buying something first. Btw, I was there to get a bucket and I got one as I left but now I was a little uncomfortable because I was wondering if the customers at her counter thought the bucket was for the bathroom? All of this could have been avoided with better customer service. I hope someone contacts me from the Dollar Tree in Crystal Lake to explain there policy on bathroom denials? Its very strange and NOT what you would expect from a public business with public bathrooms? read more

Some good prices on some items, but the store is filthy... Some really rude staff work there, with absolutely no customer service skills, or manners. Store seems old and filthy... read more

One person can ruin a Yelp review for any business. A cashier I will not give a name, had horrible customer service. She kept on saying loud in front of customers "I'm never leaving here, I should've been gone 15 minutes ago, look at this line". That's uncalled for. That should be talked about behind closed doors with management. What a shame how this place is ran. Management isn't the best read more

Stopped in today to grab a few essentials, put my products down on the only register lit up, got yelled at and told to come down to register 1. No hi, no how are you. No customer service skills what do ever. Very rude lady named Kathy. I was trying to get all my change out and she was huffing like I was wasting her time. Gave me my receipt and no have a nice day, which i always receive awesome customer service from the southern lady. And worst part is on my way out i heard her say bye in a rude matter, and saying i was the rude customer. No you were in the wrong for showing no customer service in this matter. And shes supposed a manager. Think I'll be shopping someplace else. Just utterly disgusted with her. read more
