I've been a customer for as long as the store has been open, i shop at DD's at least 2x a month…read more This afternoon I walked in w my parents and my sister found this beautiful wooden jewelry box that i loved it seemed to be a.2 piece set, as it had a second box wrapped and protected with foam pieces on the sides. The price was $14.99 which i considered amazing considering that not only was it a beautiful piece but it was a 2piece. When we got to the register the cashier/manager opens the jewelry box, takes out the box that was carefully nested on the inside, tears the wrapping on the box, I'm here thinking that he's probably removing a sensor but no, instead hesays these 2 items are priced individually. First of all they have at least 3-4 more of those exact jewelry boxes on the shelves with the same smaller wrapped box on the inside. Here he is being an Ahole saying want it or not? Of course i want it but as it was placed on the shelve as a 2 picece, not my fault they're not doing their job unpacking if the second box had not been fullt wrapped and protected with the foam pieces i would've been able to see that it was not a set but instead of this ahole asking for an apology for them fucking up he had a very arrogant, and rude attitude making seem as if it was my mistake that his staff didn't stock the items individually on the shelves.

Great closeout/clearance items everything from shampoo to houseware items food, candy, snacks,…read moremiscellaneous, houseware items, closeout items, sports team products thermos cups you name it. You always find something great in the store for a very reasonable price. Dog snacks and toys. Found some great planter containers for .25 cents and a summer flavor Gatorade that was great for half of what other stores charge. I found these cheese puffs one time they were so good. I went back and got more a few days later. They also had these little small snack size bags of a pretzel snack that had a barbecue mustard flavor to it and those were so good. They're only $.25 a bag. I went back and got more of those as well but they don't last long once the items are cleared out they're gone. It's a clearance store.

I haven't been here in a couple years, mainly because am no longer in the area, but from well…read morebefore the turn of the century we patronized Continental so I know quite well how the store operates. We try to come once or twice a year now but when we lived in the area (a mile away), we'd go at least twice a week. Some things have changed over time but the essence of the store is still there - gobs of food and drink at often great prices, non-food items (all different kinds) at reasonable to excellent prices. We could buy cases of pop for literally a fraction of what you might pay elsewhere. You just kind of have to go in there and experience it for yourself. I have known a few of the workers, particularly Mark, for many years. He's long been a dedicated employee (if he's still there). You will find lots of food items past the expiration date but with very few exceptions I have found the quality inside to be just as though the expiration date was a long way off. Chips are one of those items. The savings are stark here compared to those in regular grocery stores if you don't mind taking a chance of consuming the item after the listed date. I never batted an eyelash. I don't know if they still have tax free Tuesdays or 77 cent Fridays but unless they have dramatically changed, this is truly a worthwhile store to go to for all bargains. The neighborhood has regretfully declined a bit in recent years and its crime elements are on the rise so if you can, try to patronize Continental during daylight hours (perhaps this is why it's a bit more challenging to find a parking spot in their lot during daytime). Hope to go back sometime in the near future. If you live out that way or are within a half hour drive, it's well worth the trip - last I checked.

It is so sad to see what the restaurant has become…read more As this neighborhood has slowly gentrified, so has the quality of their Mexican food. Before, we had great places like Gorditas Gaby, and La Chiquita rose to become a popular replacement to Gaby (since they moved out of state). The quality of La Chiquita's gorditas were adequate, with a good amount of ingredients, at a comparable price to other places, and they were not stingy with any sauces. Since the newly arriving inhabitants of the gentry class do not know what's a good gordita, this restaurant has overpriced their gorditas, and the ingredients they put in them are a total joke. Yesterday afternoon, we purchased 6 gorditas at $5 bucks a piece. Never again will we overpay for these "gorditas". They were essentially double decked tacos (see the photo). We had to return again, because they had not given us any hot sauce for the food. They had only given us a tiny bag with their picked celery, carrot, and jicama mix. It seems like this restaurant is really broke, or it is owned by a hardcore penny pusher. Next time, I'll just go over to Gordillas or Los Barrilitos for some real food.

With 3 floors, you're going to find pretty much everything you can imagine. Be prepared to really dig though. Truthfully, I prefer thrifting in more curated shops. I'd rather pay more for stuff that has already been carefully picked by shop owners than sift through rows and rows of very basic brands looking for that one gem. Look at the tag colors and check if it's a color that's 1/2 off. You can find some really great deals that way. **July 2025: Thursday Evening Visit**…read more This store is a massive treasure hunt! It's arranged loosely by style (ie. skirts, dresses, jackets etc) and by size, but there were definitely some hidden gems on my visit. I bought several very 90s pieces for a few upcoming throwback looks that I plan to put together and the prices were inexpensive/moderate for thrifting. Everything is individually priced and below are some examples for pricing. Black Pettycoat Skirt $3.99 Vintage Red Dress $3.99 Red Sequin Skirt $10.59 Denim Vest $5.99 Pink Scarf $1.99 Plastic Bag $.10 (Yes they do charge for bags) There weren't any dressing rooms that I could see so be sure to wear clothing that's easy to put clothes on/off, a can do attitude, and roll up your sleeves to plow through every rack. The next time I'm in Chicago I'd be open to coming back here to pop some tags.
