Although I looked over the dresser, opened the drawers, etc., I did not move all the lamps and many assorted knick knacks. I then paid for the dresser and made arrangements to pick it up the following day. When I returned to pick it up, there was a VERY LARGE split in the wood, ALL the way across the entire top of the dresser and way too wide to repair by any method. This major damage had been covered by the runner, the lamps and the knick knacks. So . . . Usually, normally, sellers will be transparent about damage, flaws, chips, cracks etc., and then it's up to the buyer to move forward with the purchase or not. Because the damage was so extensive, I did not think the dresser could be transported without breaking completely in two. Because the damage was hidden/concealed, I felt deceived. I pointed this out to the staff, who launched into their "no refunds" spiel before I could even finish my sentence. I was rather abruptly offered to the "opportunity" to leave the dresser (and my $400) behind if I no longer wanted it. Still, I extend Kudos to Twice Is Nice for serving seniors in need!! Thank you to the volunteers who offer their time. Thank you to the folks who donate. If an item is damaged, you don't have to attach flashing lights or a neon sign, but it's not "nice" to cover it up, then pile it high with multiple heavy items making the damage almost impossible to detect until too late to make an informed purchase decision.

Wonderful finds in excellent condition! I always spend too much, but come home with great things!…read more If you make it to Charlottesville, I highly recommend this place look out because Twice is Nice has two stores in the same general vicinity.

I only noticed one or two storefronts "in transition" and that's unusual these days. Charlottesville Fashion Square is the town shopping mall. Shaped like a large plus sign with the anchors at the main four points. JC Penney, Belk (times two) and Sears. The mall is on one level and is surrounded by parking. Most of the entrances will be through one of those anchor stores and there are three others that are not. There is also a spot in the back for local bus service. Other than being very well populated, the mall is in good condition with good lighting, smooth floors and lots of spots in the middle to sit and wait for your wife to buy her stuff.

As far as malls go, Fashion Square is pretty fair. It seems better already (as far as available…read moreshops) than when I originally moved to Cville three years ago. There are still a few vacant storefronts which always feels a bit sad, but at least one or two of them have signs that something is coming soon. There is a decent selection of restaurants, though I've never eaten at any of them. I do usually prefer an actual food court, to keep the food and eating folks separate from the clothing shops, maybe just because that's what I'm used to, but it feels weird to have all the tables with people eating right outside other kinds of shops. I think Fashion Square just isn't big enough to have a full designated food court area. Otherwise the main mall areas, bathrooms and stores all seem clean and well-kept. I have only visited the mall maybe 3 or 4 times, and usually for one or two specific shops, but it's always a kinda fun blast from the past to wander around a mall for a bit of time.

The process was seamless and initially we were thrilled with our Palliser furniture. After a few weeks we began to have issues with the springs on both pieces. Attempts were made by Essentials to fix the issue, all to no avail. We met with Arthur "Art" Cox at Essentials and without delay he agreed to return the furniture. That same day we picked out another sofa and chair and it was literally delivered by 5:00 p.m. that evening. It was the easiest exchange and Essentials (as well as Palliser) stood behind their products AND their customer service! I would add that as a result of the exchange we had a credit with the store. We initially thought we would purchase something else but ultimately did not need additional furniture. We contacted the store and Heather Dunham again provided excellent customer service, as she had a check for us that same day. When I assured her we didn't need it right away, her response was, "it's no problem!" It was truly a pleasure to work with the folks at Essentials! They are a local (Charlottesville) family run business. They maintain the values that are most important to me as a consumer. I highly recommend conducting business with this great company!

The store was laid out very well and upon walking in you wouldn't have any idea it was a second hand store. They do stock some shirts and clothing etc that's not used, but all the major gear is. They also have lots of nifty stickers for sale to jazz up your car or water bottles. I was really impressed with the selection and quality of the gear they had and it was all at a price point I can get behind! I didn't make any purchases that day because we're about to move and the last thing I want is more stuff to pack, but as we have a baby boy there's a few gear additions we need to get for successful family outings, and so I'll definitely be back to high tor soon for those! Can't wait!
