This Dollar Tree was decent overall--there was a good selection of items, though the store was a bit cluttered. The checkout experience was great; the light-skinned girl who rang me up was extremely nice and had great customer service. However, my experience was overshadowed by an older woman employee who kept staring at me. Every aisle I went down, I noticed her looking at me, and it felt like I was being followed. I don't know if I was being racially profiled because of how I looked, but it made me extremely uncomfortable. I was wearing pajama pants, a t-shirt, a North Face jacket, and Crocs--nothing out of the ordinary. I've been experiencing homelessness and living in my car, and unfortunately, this isn't the first time I've been met with these kinds of stares. I've had a similar experience with an older white male security guard at the Mecklenburg County Library, so to have it happen here by someone who is also Black was disappointing. I don't really shop at the Dollar Tree much unless I need a Greeting Card or some quick sweets. Today I was in need of a sympathy card and this was the closest location near me. The store was mostly clean and organized. I do think they could use a good sweep & mop of the floors, otherwise the store looked good. I was able to easily find what I was looking for. The lines were short and I was very surprised to see they have two self check-out stations. I used one of them and was out of there within seconds. The Dollar Tree where I live doesn't have this feature yet, so I was very impressed. I'll probably never be in this area of Charlotte again, but if I ever find myself here, I'd definitely revisit this Dollar Tree if I need something. Recommended! read more

I really don't know what to say about this place. I frequent this dollar tree the most because it's most convenient to where I live but this place gives me anxiety. It's overcrowded with stuff which makes it extremely messy. You can barely move inside of this store. Customer service is subpar and sometimes very unprofessional. The cashier was very nice, the manager that was on duty today not so much. (I'm still on hold to register a complaint with corporate 10 minutes and counting) This place of business doesn't have restrooms for their paying customers? I'm a disabled senior citizen that shops once a month for household items that I can afford , not only did I not finish getting my products because of this but also used the restroom on myself because of refusal of being able to access the bathroom and the manager working at this time was rude. It should never take 25 minutes to check out from a store. When I got in the queue with my four items, I was eighth in line. When five of the people in front of me had already been processed, a second register was opened. And when I was leaving, a third register. Too late. Yes, everything in the store is a dollar. I really like the reading glasses as I have a tendency to lose mine. read more

I did not enjoy my Dollar Tree experience today and it's all thanks to a particular cashier who I will not name in this Yelp review because I'm hoping that with time he becomes better. I went to Dollar Tree today specifically to find some special tissue paper to wrap my granddaughter's gifts in because her mother is Japanese and I wanted to both honor the culture and also my granddaughter. I was in the store for a while to select the perfect tissue paper to delicately wrap the items that I had purchased only to get to the register to have a young male cashier ball up my tissue paper and cram it into my bag. As I am paying he proceeds to start dancing like he is in a TikTok video and humming some tune.He then throws the bag on the counter and hands me my receipt very Nonchalantly. He didn't even say thank you for shopping or anything. That has to be the worst experience I have had in a Dollar Tree in all the years I've been shopping in them. If I need anything in the future, I will gladly pay the extra money at another store in the area just so I don't have to post a review like this in the future. In general I enjoy Dollar Tree BUT this University location is always a sad, sad disappointment. The store is always a mess, the employees appear unhappy and depressed. The management is disrespectful and rude to customers and employees. The store always appears under staffed but there are people in the back and front booth doing NOTHING!! I take that back they are watching the lines extend down the aisles of the messy store. Items are out of place not due to the customers but due to lack of concern by those who work there. I revisit the store hoping for change but it doesn't happen. Once upon a time this location was very nice, organized and well managed. This store deserves ZERO stars. This store is an embarrassment to the Dollar Tree brand. I LOVE the Dollar Tree because I love that everything is a dollar and they have some super cute items. I came in looking for a couple of cute file folders because I feel like I'm a little too jazzy to keep loose papers in a Manila folder. I needed a little pizzazz, honey! I go in and, as always, it looks like a tornado hit the entire store. Unpacked boxes in the aisles as if everyday is shipment day and they never seem to be able to unpack...anything...ever. Items are on the floor in EVERY aisle as if the employees don't care enough to at least put them in a go-back bin to be placed on the shelves later. The employees are fairly friendly, nothing special. I would just expect to see employees running around like it's a madhouse, to explain the junk of a store that this always is. I wouldn't recommend going to this store unless you absolutely have to. Otherwise, try any other Dollar Tree in the US, aside from this one. Trust me on this. I just remembered my previous visit here, when the cashier mentioned to her coworker that she had irregular bags that only had one hole where you put your hand to actually hold the dern bag. I laughed in my head until I noticed that she bagged my ENTIRE order in the reject bags!! Like really ma'am? I come to dollar tree at 8:45pm to grab some balloons because they always give me good service on the balloons and they're the only store that still carries helium. Two employees in the store cleaning up one moping the floor the other walking around. I pretty sure out of all my customer service experience you aren't suppose to lock the doors to do any of that during business hours. I really perturbed by the lack of time I'm having to stand outside until 9:20PM to receive service. All I wanted to do is grab a few balloons for my new born child at the hospital. This store is surprisingly large yet vey unorganized and always seems short staffed and under stocked.

I would give it no stars but it would not let me write a review. This is by far yhe worst dollar tree I have every seen. The management has totally given up, the store is a nice size store but poorly organized. I walked in and walked right out, because it was messy, unorganized, stuff was everywhere. It was a total mess, I don't know what the issues are there but dollar tree you got to do better. This store has no aisle space because you have displays in the aisle. The shelves are always empty... You get what you pay for. Plus the employees aren't very kind here. Was checking out and barely finished checking out at the cashier had already pulled out her phone. Plus I needed help finding magnets for my fridge and had to ask the women 3 times for an answer because I couldn't understand her because she was eating food at the register. I always dread coming here, especially due to the long depressed faces, first thing in the morning. I've tried on several occasions to encourage an upbeat response (by engaging in friendly convo to which I'm lucky if l get more than a slight grunt) from one employee in particular.. but to no avail. This location is such a disappointment both in its distant, unfriendly and miserable looking staff (not to mention no one ever knows if anything is in stock or where and item can be found) and it's constant chaotic state. This store is always a mess.. sadly enough I find myself having to sort things out while I'm on my quest to find one or two books for my kids.. Stopped in 2 months ago and put the few items I picked up back down as I refuse to spend my money in a store that takes no pride in ownership & obviously doesn't respect its consumers enough to offer a clean, well-stocked environment. Spoke to Pierre, the new store manager, who said he'd only been there 2 weeks and would be working hard to whip the store into shape. Gave it 2 months and stopped in yesterday to find Pierre no longer works there, no replacement hired (only assistant mangers) and the store in even worse shape. Floors are disgusting. Shelves are a mess. Boxes upon boxes in almost every aisle as well as when you walk in the door. You have to step over merchandise on the floor. And people were actually doing so to shop there. Come on people..have some pride! Other Dollar Trees (Pineville, Matthews, Mint Hill, etc) are well stocked and clean! I would give a zero if possible the employees are the worst, they never stock the shelves properly, they have the worst attitudes and the manager "James" is very disrespectful.
