I'm a bit torn with the location, or maybe I'm a bit disappointed with the location. It serves it's purpose, but I think there was a misstep when the set this store up.
See, this location is set up in a dying mall. But that's not the bad part. I applaud them for taking up space in a dying mall, nothing wrong with a dollar store in a mall. Many of them have them. It's a bright, clean looking, new addition to the mall...
...that is if it was connected directly to the mall. If you are attempting to revitalize the mall you might want to connect new additions directly to the mall. But no, with this location, you made the space feel new and fresh, but you only have an entrance from outside. The whole concept of an enclosed mall was so that you didn't have to deal with the outdoor elements.
In my opinion, if this had a direct connection, which is completely possible, this would bring much needed foot traffic inside and possibly attract more businesses. I can understand if this was a new addition to the already existing building, but it's taking of a vacated spot. You can see that they purposefully closed off the entrance to the mall and placed shelves/products in front to make you think there was no entrance. But from the mall, and even inside, you can see the windows facing inward to the mall.
I'm not sure if this being a newer location had any relation to the lack of item on the shelves. Come to think of it, where is their backroom since they built from outside to the inside corridor. Because they were filling an already constructed space, it is set up a bit differently than most stores. But the shelves were still lacking with the amount of items on hand.
Much like all locations for this chain, checking out at the registers takes some time. They only had, at most, two registers open and was kind of a bottleneck in the store. read more
