As part of their fund-raising efforts, they run numerous ARC Resale locations where they resell donated goods and it's the Avon Park resale location that I'm reviewing today. My mother recently passed away and I had a need to donate a great deal of stuff she had accumulated over 94 years of life. I chose these folks Arriving- It's right on Main Street about a minute from US Route 27 and it's a snap to find. Parking is simple. Donating- Easy peasy! The customer service folks explained clearly what they could take and why they didn't except certain items. It was painless and quick. Shopping- Let's assume you've been to other places that sell donations. This place is clean and organized like the competitors. The staff is just fine. Pricing- Unfortunately I'm deducting One star as they seem to price higher than all the competitors. They make up for that a bit by having selected days with discounts like Seniors Day etc. However, the standard pricing, in my opinion, needs to be adjusted. Conclusion- Even with the pricing blip this is a fine organization doing good work and the store is worth a look, especially on discounted days!

I actually visited twice because it was so bad the first time I thought the shock might have affected my ability to comprehend what I was experiencing. Nope, the second visit was just as bad. If you've been around awhile, it's easy to see what this place used to be. It was the corner store where you could get anything and meet all your neighbors. It has groceries, a meat market, a notary, Western Union, a bait shop, fishing licenses, gas pumps out front and on and on and on. Old timers say that it indeed was the place to go. Time has passed it by and now it's just a sad, dirty, and broken down eyesore. It's a miracle it's still open. Abysmal selection. Out of code products. Dirty. Broken displays. You get the idea. If the apocalypse occurred and the world as we knew it was ending; I might stop in but I'd need to think about it!

I last reviewed them 8 years ago. Let's see what's changed. Arriving- Directly on US Route 27 Southbound so it's simple to find. This is a freestanding location with its own smallish parking lot. There are two handicapped spots flanking the main entrance. Ambiance- This location is relatively new so it's big as you can see from my pictures. All the aisles were clear & clean, unlike some of the negative publicity out there. The shelves weren't as nicely organized as my grocery stores, but they weren't bad either. The App- If you have the app it will connect to the store via Bluetooth and let you scan items and add them to your cart which is very cool! See my picture. Products- You know the deal. This is not a full-fledged grocery store but a place for selected discounted items. After a couple of visits, you'll quickly learn when to stop by. If you plan correctly, you can save some bucks! Customer Service- My cashier had a very quiet personality, but he was efficient and gave me a nice smile and a thank you so no problems. Conclusion- My experience is decidedly better than all the negative media. I give this location and this visit four stars!

It is true that you will see plenty of stuff that doesn't interest you but isn't that true of any store? These forks buy a lot of overstocks and quite often you'll find a mainstream product that you use at a huge discount! The TRICK for me is to visit once a month for about ten minutes. I blow up and down the aisles one time and almost always walk away with a mainstream product that I use every day for a song.
